00:00What's up everyone?
00:07Today I'm going to show you how to get to Boston Logan International Airport from the
00:13South Station via public transportation.
00:17Of course, this is not the only method to get to the airport.
00:21Of course, you can open up your trusty Uber app and pay $18.66 for a cab ride there or
00:32over here there's also taxi services available.
00:36But this method only costs $2.40 and we're going to be going underground right here.
00:48There's also other ways to get to the airport.
00:52If you're near to the Faneuil Hall area, it's actually recommended to get to the State Station
01:01and taking the Blue Line train.
01:05But we will be taking the Silver Line today.
01:10Right here, South Station, Red Line, Silver Line, and it has the airport logo.
01:15So this is where we'll be going.
01:17The airport, Silver Line.
01:31So just follow the signs for Silver Line.
01:40Silver Line Dudley, I don't think is it.
01:50Now before you can go into these turnstiles, you need to buy a ticket or payment and you
01:56do it with those machines there.
01:58But once you have it, you'll get something like this, a Charlie card or a Charlie ticket
02:04if you're buying a single-use fare.
02:07So you tap to the radio like this, it'll let you in.
02:11And now we look for the Silver Line.
02:16Right here, Airport and Design Center.
02:21There's also a staircase on the other side.
02:26Now I have to warn you, this is one of the strangest methods of public transportation
02:32I've ever taken.
02:34And here's the platform.
02:45Airport bus is at the end of the platform.
02:48There's no rails, right?
02:50You may be thinking, what kind of public transit are we going to be taking?
02:55And it's an electrified underground bus.
03:01As strange as that sounds.
03:04And we have to wait for it now.
03:07And this was done because it was supposed to be a rail line, but they ran out of money
03:13to properly lay out tracks and get train cars.
03:17So instead, now it's a bus that's powered by electricity overhead and that switches
03:23over to diesel when the electrified lines end.
03:30It's a pretty popular bus.
03:31As you can see here, people have their luggage.
03:34But as you see there, they have the trolley cables up to the ceiling where they're drawing
03:55the power from.
04:13The other method of public transit that's very common is taking the Blue Line subway
04:20to the airport station.
04:23But you have to get off at the airport station and transfer to a bus anyway that'll take
04:27you to the airport.
04:29This one's just a one-seat ride.
04:32I think there's a bus coming.
04:37Let's see if it's ours.
04:44Well, I heard it and now the sound's fading out.
05:14That's not our bus.
06:15Not in service.
06:27Well, I guess this is it.
06:30Let's see how this experience is getting to the airport.
06:33It's my first time.
06:45I've taken this bus before but the SL2 and it was very bumpy.
06:57I hope it's less bumpy this time.
06:59They have luggage racks available which is nice.
07:14I guess they're changing drivers maybe or...
07:44I don't know.
08:14I don't know.
08:45There's a bus coming from the airport.
09:06It's pretty common for people to take the train and then switch to the bus here to the airport.
09:12There's a main station and a south station.
09:16Also, Amtrak comes here and commuter rails too.
09:34We're finally moving.
09:42It's so bumpy.
10:12Let's see if it's ours.
10:42It's ours.
11:02Port house station.
11:09This stop here is Port House in the growing Seaport neighborhood of Boston.
11:27There's one more underground station after this, the World Trade Center.
11:38Let's see if it's ours.
11:48It's ours.
12:08Let's see if it's ours.
12:14It's ours.
12:34World Trade Center station.
12:44Let's see if it's ours.
12:58It's ours.
13:14It's ours.
13:20Really strange method of transportation here, but it works.
13:26It's ours.
13:41Looks like the traffic light turns green.
13:47A corridor priority.
13:54Let's see if it's ours.
14:09It's interesting they have that announcement. I never knew they did.
14:23Now the driver has to manually change the bus from electric to gas.
14:29Now the driver has to manually change the bus from electric to gas.
14:35This isn't the airport, right?
14:41I'm sorry.
14:53It takes about a minute to change. It's a smooth process.
15:23It's interesting they have that announcement.
15:29I'm sorry.
15:35It takes about a minute to change.
15:41It's a smooth process.
15:47This bus is bumpy even when it's not in the middle of the road, it feels bumpier.
16:11I guess you can only expect too much for $2.40.
16:41This bus is bumpy even when it's not in the middle of the road, it feels bumpier.
17:11This bus is bumpy even when it's not in the middle of the road, it feels bumpy.
17:41This bus is bumpy even when it's not in the middle of the road, it feels bumpy.
17:57I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
18:11I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
18:21I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
18:31I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
18:41I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
18:51I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
19:01I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
19:11I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
19:21I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
19:31I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
19:41I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
19:51I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
20:01I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
20:11I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
20:21I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
20:31I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
20:41I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
20:51I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
21:01I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
21:11I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
21:21I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
21:31I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
21:41I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
21:51I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
22:01I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
22:11I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
22:21I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
22:31I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
22:41I saw the system map there. This bus is supposed to come every 8 to 15 minutes.
22:51That's quite frequent service from the airport.
23:11I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
23:21I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
23:31I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
23:41I guess this bus can't get enough tunnels.
23:51Oh wow, we have to go behind some bus to get around.
24:01Oh wow, we have to go behind some bus to get around.
24:21And we are at the airport just like that.
24:31And with that everyone, that is how you get to Boston Airport via public transportation.
24:41Otherwise you can take this bus to the blue line at the airport subway station, but that bus, that silver line one is also pretty convenient.
