00:00Since April 2023, deadly clashes between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese army
00:07have killed thousands and displaced more than 10 million people.
00:12Among those fleeing the violence are foreigners who had once sought refuge in the country,
00:18but now find themselves trapped.
00:20Most of the people used to leave after the donations of organisations.
00:25We lost almost, we left, we leave everything behind us since we came in Khartoum.
00:32To return it does what our wish all of us, but we don't have even a single coin that we can pay
00:39to reach even at the Egyptian border.
00:42According to UN figures, more than one million refugees were in Sudan before the war,
00:48from neighbouring places like South Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia.
00:53With people facing a lack of access to drinking water, food shortages and infectious diseases,
00:59the country's humanitarian situation has become catastrophic.
01:03The crisis prompted the United States to pledge an extra $203 million in funding on Thursday,
01:09but their ambassador to the United Nations noted that more needs to be done.
01:13This money is not a panacea, and so in addition to funding the response to this crisis,
01:20we will continue to work steadfastly to address the root causes,
01:25to press for more cross-border and cross-line access,
01:29to hold those committing violence accountable,
01:32and most of all, most importantly, to continue diplomatic efforts to find a path to peace.
01:39Both of the warring sides have been accused of restricting civilian access to aid,
01:44and the UN has estimated that more than half of Sudan's population is facing acute food insecurity.
