00:00I see divorced people being accepted all the time in the church.
00:12Murderers, criminals are way more accepted than, you know, gay people, lesbian people,
00:17trans people.
00:18Like, what's up with that?
00:19You know, that doesn't make any sense to me.
00:20You know, that doesn't make any sense to me.
00:42There's no, like, anti-gay law, but if you do come out, there's a greater chance of you
01:05being let go from your job or being bullied.
01:09Generally, it's not viewed as a positive, for sure.
01:17I never dated throughout junior high and high school or college because, you know, because
01:23being gay was bad and it was a sin and, you know, I suppressed all of that and that was
01:30really rough, not being able to experience those things that all your other friends are
01:35experiencing.
01:36When you first date, your first kiss, like, it should have happened, like, a long time
01:39ago.
01:40I used to call it same-sex attraction.
01:42I couldn't even say the word gay at that point because I was so afraid.
01:55Churches must be a place where you can really be yourself and process things, but more often
02:02than not, it becomes a place where it's oppressive.
02:05I feel like these days I'm undoing a lot of the things that were kind of bred into me
02:10since birth, and I'm kind of redefining and relearning what it means to live life and
02:20the things that I was taught.
02:25I still believe in God, but I think my definition of God is a lot different than from when I
02:33was a kid.
02:34I think God is so much bigger and so much more incredible than we give him, her, credit for.
03:05So, home is about finding your family, finding the place that you call home.
03:15For me, it's finding a record label, Feel Good Music, where they accept me for me and
03:22they accept my music.
03:31I think it's interesting because they've never had an openly gay person in there.
03:40Could you imagine if we all looked the same?
03:43I mean, all those unique things that make us different, whether it be your skin color,
03:50whether it be the way you speak, whether it be the way you dress or the way you think
03:55or the things that you like.
03:57I think it's something to be celebrated.
04:00When I was a kid, I thought God is love.
04:04They teach you that.
04:05But I just feel like love now means something else.
04:09I feel like love is us.
04:12It's just the positivity, all the good things in this world.
