00:00Indian army has foiled a terrorist attack on a security post in Jammu Kashmir's Rajouri district early this morning.
00:06According to officials, a massive cordon and search operation has been launched to nab the terrorists.
00:11According to the Indian army, the terrorists fired at an army post in the Gunda area of Rajouri district at around 4 a.m. local time.
00:37Troops guarding the post retaliated, resulting in fierce exchanges.
00:41A fresh firing between terrorists and security forces has broken out in the area while the cordon and search operation is underway.
00:48Reports suggest that the terrorists first tried to attack the house of a village defense group member and ex-servicemen on the outskirts of the village.
00:56The presence of police personnel forced them to flee the area and later target the army post.
01:11This is the sixth attack in the month of July to have taken place in Jammu and Kashmir.
01:15On July 15th, four army personnel, including an officer, were killed during a gunfight with terrorists in the Dora district.
01:22On July 8th, five army personnel were killed and as many injured after terrorists ambushed an army truck in Katua district.
01:30On July 7th, an army personnel was injured in a terrorist attack on a security post in Rajouri district.
01:36On the same day, eight people, including six terrorists, were also killed in twin encounters in the Kulgam district of Kashmir region.
01:45Today's attack comes less than 24 hours after Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Jammu and discussed measures to deal with the sudden spurt in major terrorist attacks on the army in the region.
01:57In the last three months, 11 soldiers and 10 civilians have been killed in terror attacks.
02:03Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had chaired a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Security to discuss the rise in terrorist attacks in Jammu.
02:11Earlier, he had asked army to deploy full spectrum of its anti-terrorist capabilities to eliminate terrorists from the Jammu region.
02:27Militants today attacked the house of village defense committee member in Rajouri area of the Jammu region.
02:35Indian army thwarted the attack and reached the spot as soon as possible.
02:40The gunfight between militants and security forces is still on.
02:44The operation now a joint operation of Indian army as well as Jammu and Kashmir police in the area.
02:50Security forces believe that there are three to four militants hiding at the operation site.
02:56We are also seeing a rise in the attacks in the Jammu region, especially in the last three months.
03:03July has also seen a lot of attacks by these militant groups in the areas like Dodar, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Belt which is very close to the international border and line of control.
03:15Security forces say there are 30 to 40 foreign militants active in the jungles which is a dense forest of areas very close to the line of control.
03:25Jammu and Kashmir police had said that there are 70 to 80 foreign militants active in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
03:32Most of them have created their base in the Jammu region and that's one of the reasons we are seeing so many attacks taking place in Jammu.
03:40While our security forces are now coming up with a new strategy to counter these attacks.
