00:00Manchester City's pre-season plans are well underway at this stage of the summer with the team jetting out to America on Friday ahead of their pre-season tour.
00:08They did meet up the squad that was not involved in the Euros and the Copa America.
00:13They did meet up in Manchester last week to begin a little bit of pre-season training.
00:16The likes of Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland, Calvin Phillips, Rico Lewis among the players who were in Manchester.
00:23And after a couple of days of training they have flown out to America where they play Celtic this week on Wednesday in North Carolina.
00:30They then face AC Milan in New York on Saturday before games against Barcelona in Orlando and Chelsea in Ohio.
00:38Not a bad trip I must say of the US for the City players.
00:41But it was a squad, I mean I mentioned that most of the players who were involved in the Euros and the Copa America obviously didn't meet up.
00:47So it was a squad, 27 players travelled but it was a squad that was mainly made up of youth team players, if I'm honest, that flew out to America.
00:54They are going to have a couple of players meet up with them in Josco Guardiola and Mateo Kovacic.
00:59But they're not going to meet up ahead of Wednesday's game against Celtic.
01:03They'll meet up with the squad in New York later this week.
01:06And they'll provide a little bit more competition for places, certainly amongst the first team group.
01:10But I think that going into the tour and those four matches, I think what's going to be interesting is to just see which youth players can impress and can stand out.
01:17City have obviously a fantastic amount of talent in their youth ranks.
01:22They won the FA Youth Cup last year and regularly are successful at under-18 and under-21 level.
01:27We've seen Phil Foden come through of course in the last couple of years.
01:30But you've got the likes of Oscar Bob, Rico Lewis, who actually used pre-season in the past.
01:35So I think show Pep Guardiola what they're made of.
01:37And there could be a couple of players this summer who could push on and perhaps play a role in Pep Guardiola's squad this year.
01:43But in terms of those players who aren't involved, they're going to, over the next couple of weeks, start meeting up again in Manchester and City.
01:50When they do come back from that trip from their final game in the US, they of course return to competitive action on the 10th of August.
01:57That's the Community Shield against Manchester United.
01:59The season beginning how last season ended.
02:01A trip, a Manchester derby at Wembley for City.
02:04But plenty going to be happening across the next couple of weeks with City with four pre-season games.
02:10Plenty of players coming back and perhaps even a little bit more transfer news.
