It's time to retire from the Tour de France - Cavendish

After winning a record 35th stage this year, Mark Cavendish confirmed the 2024 Tour de France will be his last

00:00I think now it's time. I've done 15 Tours de France and I've created some
00:10incredible memories at the Tour de France. They've given me, this race has
00:15given me a life I could only dream of and it's given me the highest of highs
00:21the lowest of lows. I've got an incredible family that supported me over the last
00:26years and I'm really looking forward to reflecting on this Tour and the
00:33other Tours and spending time with my family and
00:41seeing them grow to do whatever dreams they want to do as well. The Tour de
00:45France is not a bike race, it's the Tour de France. It's bigger than
00:49cycling, it's a global sporting event, it's the biggest annual globe in sport
00:55global sporting event and it's in this beautiful country of France you know
01:03it's without the Tour de France there's no cycling and when I was a child it's
01:13what I dreamed of racing and I see my child now and it's what he dreams of
01:18racing.
