00:00The No Sailing Policy in Ilocos Sur is now in effect.
00:03Because of the rising waves of bad weather,
00:07Kagayan Province is in a red alert status as a preparation for the direct effects of Hurricane Karina.
00:13This is the first live news of Ivy Hernando of GMA Regional TV. Ivy?
00:23Susan, since yesterday, the light to moderate rain here in Ilocos Sur has not stopped.
00:30The red alert status in the province of Kagayan and Batanes has already risen since Sunday, July 21 due to Hurricane Karina.
00:41In this cell phone video taken in Batanes yesterday morning, the weather is still gloomy.
00:47There is no major storm in Basco Port, but the boat of fishermen has already been lifted as a preparation for the storm.
00:56In Kagayan, all MDRRMO and other government agencies have already been alerted in case a storm hits the land.
01:04It is gloomy and there is a strong wind in some parts of the province,
01:08so some towns are being guarded in the eastern portion from the earthquake.
01:14There are erosions, not necessarily landslides,
01:19but in loose areas like Tuau, Bagao, Nataran, and Gonzaga.
01:28There are slight erosions because of these light to moderate rains.
01:33The major river and tributaries of Kagayan River are still below normal, but the authorities are still monitoring.
01:42In Ilocos Sur, the number of fishermen has not increased for a week because of the increasing waves due to the bad weather.
01:50That's why Eddie Mang, in fixing the fishing net, has reduced the time.
01:55We are afraid that if there is an earthquake, we will be in big trouble.
02:02The no sailing policy has been lifted and those near waterways and mountainous areas are being taken care of.
02:12Susan was the first to do extensive pruning of the trees in the province as part of the National Disaster Resilience Month.
02:22This is to avoid bigger damage to the structures and lines of the power and telecommunication lines in case a storm hits.
02:32As of now, Susan, there has been no recorded incident of flooding here in Ilocos Sur.
02:39Thank you very much, Ivy Hernando of GMA Regional TV.
