00:00When I was seven, I solved a mystery.
00:06See that bottle?
00:07That was the first clue.
00:10And that's me.
00:13That was the beginning of my grand adventure.
00:22The note read, a treasure is yours if you choose to seek.
00:26I warn you though, it's not for the weak.
00:29If you accept my quest for you, I'll help you out with a clue or two.
00:34Home of the bird, under the third, think you're tough, call my bluff.
00:39The game was afoot.
00:41Home of the bird, possibly a nest, but why the third?
00:45The paper had oil stains and the bottle had dry dirt inside, which meant the seal held.
00:49And the dirt inside was the same as when you took the bottle with the clue.
00:52If I could find a dirt sample which matched that inside the bottle, I could confirm the
00:55location of the treasure.
00:56I found a series of possible matches, but I needed more.
01:00Home of the bird could be a tree and the oil.
01:02It wasn't a natural occurrence and it wasn't a mistake.
01:05It was a clue.
01:06They were telling me the species of the tree.
01:08It must have been eucalyptus oil under the third home of the bird.
01:12It was under the third tree, but the third tree where?
01:16Call my bluff.
01:17Call my bluff.
01:18Bluff wasn't a taunt.
01:19It was a landmark.
01:20A bluff as in an ocean cliff.
01:22I had solved it.
01:23The treasure was buried under the third eucalyptus tree on the bluffs.
01:29And yet, it wasn't there.
01:32What was I missing?
01:34Home of the bird under the third.
01:36It had to be under the third tree on the bluffs.
01:39It had to... and then it hit me.
01:44It had to be under the third tree.
02:14Found no gold?
02:43Do not dismay.
02:44The real treasure was the friends we made along the way.
02:53It was at that moment I realized that I had just spent an entire weekend accomplishing
02:59absolutely nothing.
03:02Man, I miss that.
03:27Alright here's the gear we shot this thing on.
03:30Our camera was this 5D Mark III that worked pretty well considering it was older than
03:34both of our actors.
03:36When we were outside our lens was the Canon 24-105mm f4 and indoors it was the Canon 50mm
03:42prime f1.8.
03:44We had to use the SteelWorld monitor since the 5D's screen is way too dark to see anything.
03:49And we used this Ronin-S for our tracking and moving shots.
03:52Voice over audio was done with this Blue Yeti microphone and the on location dialogue was
03:56picked up with this Tascam DR-10L.
03:59And our lights were this softbox that I got two of on Amazon for $80.
04:04And there you go.
04:05That's all it takes to make this film.
