The Mute Man of Sardinia ( Film ) 2023 - ENG

This story, set in mid-19th century Sardinia, revolves around the feud that actually occurred between the Vasa and Mamia families, and which led to the deaths of more than seventy people. Bastiano Tansu is a character that really existed; he was deathly mute from birth, and was mistreated and marginalized until his fury and prodigious marksmanship became useful to the cause of the feud. The family connection and the murder of his brother Michele linked him inextricably to one of the two leaders of the faction, Pietro Vasa, which turned him into one of the most feared assassins of the entire feud. The State and Church made some, often clumsy, attempts to stem the tide of terror as the two factions destroyed each other. When Aggius's peace brought an end to the feud, Bastiano also seemed to have found inner peace thanks to his reciprocal love with a shepherd's daughter. But in a violent and superstitious world that accused him of being the son of the devil since he was a child, Bastiano could not be absolved and was killed by his cousin Pietro Vasa.
