00:13Thomas was born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1993. His father, Mike Thomas, has been

00:20the head professional at the Harmony Landing Country Club in Goshen, Kentucky

00:24since 1990. Thomas grew up in Louisville, an avid fan of his hometown Cardinals.

00:29Justin began playing golf at the age of just two. His father, Mike, a club pro

00:34introduced him to the game and continues to be Thomas's coach. Prior to his junior

00:38year of high school, Thomas competed in the 2009 Wyndham

00:42Championship on the PGA Tour. He became the third youngest player to ever make

00:46the cut of a PGA Tour event at the age of 16 years, three months and two days old.

00:51Thomas played his collegiate golf at the University of Alabama. As a freshman in

00:562012, he won the Haskins Award as the most outstanding collegiate golfer. He

01:00was also on the national championship team of 2013. You'll often hear

01:05spectators yell roll tide at Thomas while out on course, harking back to his

01:09college days playing for the Crimson Tide. Not only was his dad a successful

01:13professional golfer but Thomas's granddad was too. He appeared in the US

01:18Open where he was once paired with Arnold Palmer. Thomas became the seventh

01:22player in PGA Tour history and youngest ever to shoot a round of 59. He did this

01:27at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He is one of only five male players to have won 10 or

01:33more PGA Tour events, including a major, before turning 27. The others to do this

01:39are Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth. Speaking of

01:44Jordan Spieth, Thomas and Spieth have known each other since they were just 14

01:48years old. They have become firm friends since on tour with both players

01:52representing the US at the 2007 Evian Junior Masters. Thomas became the first

01:58man to shoot nine under par in a US Open. This was done at Erin Hills in 2017. That

02:04round of 63 included nine birdies and an eagle. His current caddy is Jim Bones
