00:00hi kids today we will learn about the structure of a flower so let's start we
00:09know all living beings reproduce that is all living things give birth to the same
00:16kind humans reproduce humans dogs reproduce dogs cats reproduce cats and so
00:27on similarly plants to reproduce its own kind but how today we will be learning
00:37how do plants reproduce there are many ways of reproduction in plants but most
00:45of the plants reproduce through seeds that is they produce seeds which when
00:54germinated it produces a new plant see how this seed is produced in most of the
01:03plants flowers produce fruits that contain seeds but some plants that do
01:11produce seeds do not have flowers some trees like pine and fir do not have
01:19flowers their seeds are produced in their cones now we will learn how do the
01:28flowering plants produce seeds in a flowering plant seeds are produced by the
01:37flowers so today we will first learn the structure of a flower and then we will
01:45learn how seeds are produced by a flower this green color stock is called
01:53pedestal this green color swollen part attached to the end of the pedestal is
02:01receptacle now all other parts of the flower are arranged in four walls first
02:11is of sepals second wall is of petals third wall of male reproductive parts
02:22fourth wall of female reproductive parts let's learn each of them one by one
02:30first wall is of sepals which are small soft green leaves that keeps the bud
02:40covered when the bud opens second wall which is the most colorful part of the
02:48flower shows up petals are very soft and brightly colored petals make flowers and
02:57look beautiful and attract insects third and fourth walls are the reproductive
03:05parts of the flower third wall consists of male reproductive parts called
03:12stamens each stamen has two parts anther and filament a swollen head is called
03:23anther it consists of numerous very small pollens which are male
03:30reproductive cells a long stalk called filament fourth wall of a flower
03:40consists of female reproductive parts called carpal or pistil each carpel or
03:50pistil consists of three parts stigma style and ovary on the top there is a
04:01sticky structure called stigma and this stigma is attached to a long tube like
04:08structure called style and this style ends in a swollen part called ovary and
04:18this ovary contains the female reproductive cells called ovules so kids
04:26now let's revise the structure of a flower this is pedicel which is a green
04:35color stock then this broader part is a receptacle and all other parts are
04:43arranged in four walls first green sepals second colorful petals third
04:51stamen reproductive part for carpal or pistil which is female reproductive part
05:03stamen consists of a long stock called filament and a swollen head called
05:10anther that consists of numerous very small pollens which are male
05:17reproductive cells pistil consists of sticky structure called stigma which is
05:24attached to a long tube like structure called style and style ends in a swollen
05:32part called ovary and this ovary contains the female reproductive cells
05:39called ovules so kids we learned about the structure of a flower and in our
05:47next assignment we will learn how this flower produces seeds which in turn
05:53produces new plants now you may go ahead and take a quiz to learn more bye-bye
