00:00Thank you.
00:02Now here's something you should get your hands on.
00:04Limited edition Prince. It's the first in a series.
00:06There'll be more drivers to come. They'll be personally
00:08autographed by the drivers.
00:10Dick Johnson kicks it off. Call
00:121-800-888-321
00:14to get your hands on these. They're roughly about a
00:16metre long by half a metre high.
00:18So some great memorabilia
00:20there to get your hands on as we get set
00:22for Race 2. The first one was a good one
00:24for Mobile HRT. It was a 1-2 and that's
00:26why they will share the front row. Craig
00:28Johnson, Mark Scaife that is. Russell
00:30Ingle out of 3 and Dick Johnson from 4.
00:32Row 3 looks like this.
00:34Larry Perkins and Glensing moving up
00:36the order. Paul Romano and Jason
00:38Wright, the Pertec 4. Go back to 9.
00:40It was a good result for
00:42the young guy in front of his home crowd, Garth
00:44Tander. Steve Johnson in the top 10 as well.
00:46Faulkner out of 11 and Larkham worked
00:48his way up to 12. Getting back, Alan
00:50Jones and Stephen Ellery, Terry Finnegan
00:52the sunny autosound car and John Bow
00:54in all sorts of trouble. He's back at 16.
00:56Darren Pate, 17. Darren Hossack,
00:5818. The two wins boys side by side.
01:00Trevor Ashby, the top
01:02place privateer and Malrose out
01:04of 20. 21, Rod Nash
01:06with Jeff Kendrick from Western Australia
01:08alongside him Greg Crick and Danny
01:10Osborne in the colour scan forward. John Briggs
01:12Darcy Russell, Jason Barguana
01:14all the way back in 27. He actually
01:16cracked the rim. Tony Longhurst
01:18in 28 but he will not start. We've just been
01:20informed that he is a late withdrawal. Apparently
01:22engine problems. So Tony Longhurst
01:24is over here in WA
01:26but his team mate Alan Jones is still there
01:28as we get set. Race 2. It is
01:30an all HRT front row.
01:32Lowndes the inside. Skate the outside.
01:34Now Lowndes got a rocket first time
01:36round. Away we go. The lights turn
01:38green and again Lowndes gets away to a great start.
01:40Now Tander's off on the grass. So too is
01:42Larry Perkins. He rejoins the circuit
01:44and incident free.
01:46So they get around the first corner no problem.
01:48Stephen Johnson going the outside line.
01:50Bright is squeezed in the middle there as well.
01:52Boy how many times have you seen that as they
01:54leap off the line here at Barbagallo.
01:56It's pretty narrow. We see cars going down and trimming
01:58the grass both sides. But thankfully
02:00they're able to come through relatively cleanly
02:02as they head up over the hill for the first time.
02:04A little bit of grass cutting that Larry
02:06Perkins did has been beneficial. He's got
02:08past Dick Johnson and moved into fourth spot.
02:10Dick's in fifth. But a good start again
02:12by Craig Lowndes. He moved away beautifully and we'll see
02:14if he can pull that little bit of gap that he's been accustomed to
02:16do. It looks like he has. He leaves
02:18two big black marks coming out of
02:20the corner and moves away. It's Russell
02:22Engle right behind Mark Scaife. Another
02:24rocket-like start for Craig Lowndes.
02:26He is so good at it. His
02:28teammate Mark Scaife sitting nicely in second.
02:30We take the Synchrome Proto onboard
02:32camera with Russell Engle now.
02:34It seemed as though Russell just drifted back
02:36whether his tyres went off. The Bridgestones are certainly
02:38running well here today. Will he be able to stay
02:40with the HRT duo? We go back to
02:42Perkins, then Dick Johnson, Glenn Seaton
02:44who pick up the Pertek Ford there of
02:46Jason Ryan. Larry Russell giving
02:48Mark a bit of a hurry up there.
02:50And a little bit more. Boy, oh boy.
02:52Well, he did say he was going to be in McMorris for the Enforcer
02:54this weekend, didn't he? Well, there he
02:56started the job. Well, he said after Malala
02:58he felt he was driving a little bit conservatively
03:00even though he won the round. He's just got to go
03:02for maximum points and try and
03:04keep this buffer he's got over Craig Lowndes.
03:06After Lowndes' victory in Heat 1, that's down to two
03:08points the championship lead that Engle now
03:10has over Lowndes. And Lowndes here
03:12sprinting away in the distance. That would not be
03:14good news for Russell Engle as he's trying to find his
03:16way past Lowndes' teammate Mark Scaife.
03:18I think Russell actually realised he's
03:20got to get on with the job really early on
03:22while the tyres are still working well
03:24and put some pressure on Mark Scaife. So he's only got a few
03:26laps, I think, maybe, depending on the temperature
03:28of the track and how things are working out
03:30to attack Mark Scaife. Well, the track
03:32temperature's still up around 32, 33 degrees
03:34which is what it was in Heat 1. We've got some
03:36cloud and stuff coming in over Barbagello now
03:38so that may have dropped the track temperatures a little bit
03:40which is going to be of great
03:42help to the Dunlop runners, particularly Russell Engle
03:44Oh, Scaife locking one up on the inside
03:46Russell closes right up behind him
03:48On board with our championship
03:50leader, Russell Engle. Shell Helix
03:52race score at the bottom of your screen keeps you up to date
03:54right up to date with what's going on back through the field
03:56as we stick with the action at the pointy
03:58part of the grid. Russell Engle trying to find
04:00a way past Mark Scaife. Meanwhile, Craig Lowndes
04:02continues to build that buffer
04:041.5 seconds is the gap
04:06between Lowndes and his teammate Scaife
04:10Down the cold corner
04:12Russell Engle in pursuit. We go back on board
04:14with the championship leader trying to get a fast run
04:16up this big steep climb
04:18the back straight of the head down toward Yirrkahama
04:20building up to 240kmph
04:22You can just see a little bit of an advantage
04:24there for Scaife as they come out of that bottom turn
04:26Now if Craig Lowndes keeps his perfect
04:28score here at Barbagello Raceway, which he is
04:30well on the way to doing, he will take
04:32the championship lead after this race
04:34if he stays in the lead. We're right again with
04:36Russell Engle in the Castrol Commodore
04:38It's his third at the moment. We go the outside shot
04:40Perkins, his teammate just behind
04:42Larry is Dick Johnson. Then we go
04:44back to Seton Bright Romano
04:46Tander and Steven Johnson. That's your top ten
04:48Very tricky part of the circuit here
04:50A lot tighter than what it appears on TV
04:52Yeah, very tricky part of the circuit
04:54Obviously the hardest part of the track
04:56and this corner goes around a full nearly
04:58180 degrees. Very constant radius
05:00too. You've just got to be nice and
05:02easy on the power there
05:04A quick lift as you come onto the back straight
05:06and then way down the hill. A lot steeper
05:08than it looks, as we said before
05:10and it's a cold corner
05:12Getting a drive out of here is so
05:14very important. And if you get a bit
05:16sideways, the guy behind, if he's close enough
05:18can get a better run and slide down the inside
05:20I'll leave it there. Russell Engle's all
05:22over the back bumper of Mark Scaife's Mobile 1
05:24Commodore. Those top three running within just
05:26a tenth of a second of each other
05:28Perkins back there in fourth position. He's just under
05:3059. Then there's Johnson, Glenn Seton
05:32Jason Bright, Paul Romano
05:34Garth Tander, the local ladder and Steven Johnson
05:36Dick Johnson's giving Larry
05:38Perkins a nice working over. Larry's working
05:40pretty hard. Both Dunlop shot cars
05:42Here's another good battle. As it was in the first
05:44race, the two Ford Bridgestone
05:46runners. That is Glenn Seton in front
05:48of Jason Bright. Now we saw Bright drop off
05:50in the first race and Romano got through
05:52apparently drastically flat
05:54spotted a tyre from locking it up
05:56and decided that he just wanted to get the car home
05:58in one piece and just cruised around and conceded
06:00a position or two. But he's back on the pace
06:02now, that's for sure. Sitting in seventh spot
06:04Jason Bright in the Pertek Ford
06:06You can see off in the distance behind him
06:08there's Romano and behind Romano is Garth
06:10Tander. Just look at the timing screen here
06:12Barquan is making a lot of
06:14progress from the back of the grid. He's up to 17th spot
06:16to the 27th. So he's made 10 spots
06:18in the first four laps and he'll be looking
06:20to make some progress in a hurry
06:24Good work also by
06:26Mark Larkham. He's there in 13th. Well in fact
06:28he's actually gone backwards a spot
06:30but he did all the hard work in race one to come up
06:32from 19th
06:34Look at him, he's talking his way around
06:36He loves this. Good hard
06:38battle. You can see the grit he's on
06:40he's really really working hard out here
06:42today. The car's not quite to his
06:44liking. He's having to drive it
06:46so very hard to get the performance out of it
06:48Well that was the fastest man on the circuit
06:50that time around. He's just put in a 58.76
06:52escaping everyone
06:54behind him in the 59s
06:56Holding that gap there about 1.8
06:58to 2 seconds and
07:00he's looking after that car. I mean he's got it well under control
07:02he's in the right spot and
07:04Mark Skaper will be wanting to get away from Russell
07:06a little bit so he can get a bit of a breather and do the same
07:08Well that's what he said. Even though he may have been
07:10struggling trying to keep the rubber on the car
07:12he said he's probably the best of everyone else
07:14so he can control the pace from the front
07:16and be able to hold that tyre package
07:18together throughout the race. This track incredibly
07:20abrasive. Very hard on tyres
07:22Have a look how much Romano's come up as we've
07:24got an incident here spinning. It's Rod Nash
07:26and Jeff Kendrick down
07:28In cold corner. Darcy Russell
07:30He's kept the foot right up it too
07:34Lap 6 of 20 we get back to it
07:36Now have a look here how much Romano has come up
07:38on Jason Bright. I remember saying
07:40just a lap ago and off in the distance there that is
07:42Romano but now he's right up
07:44into the action. So too Garth Tander, Stevie
07:46Johnson. Then we go back to John Bowell
07:48Faulkner's the next one through from Larkham
07:50Jones and Jason Barguana has worked his
07:52way right up to the back of that pack
07:58Trevor Ashby in the Lansvale
08:00ICO Autocolour Commodore
08:02Battle scarred indeed from
08:04an incident on Friday
08:06or rather Saturday
08:08morning. Yeah, bit of a
08:10tangle or misunderstanding
08:12with Mark Scaife
08:14Mark Scaife has been on the receiving
08:16end of the wrath of the officials. He has to pay a
08:18$3,000 fine for that little
08:20tangle
08:22So it's been quite a
08:24wild weekend for Mark Scaife but he'd certainly be
08:26enjoying the race consistency
08:28he's enjoyed. Certainly heat 1 but strong
08:302nd position
08:32and he's holding 2nd again in this one too
08:34Well if you've just joined us
08:36the story at the moment is Craig Lownds
08:38got another rocket start
08:40from his team mate Mark Scaife
08:42Now he has been untouched out in front
08:44Russell Engle is sitting in 3rd and gave
08:46Scaife a little bit of a touch up earlier on
08:48Further back in the pack we've got Jason Barguana
08:50who has come from 27th position
08:52up now into 13th
08:54into Valvoline, Cummins, Commodore
08:56So Barguana is the big mover in this field
08:58at the moment
09:04Down into cold corner this time
09:06Russell seems to have dropped back a little bit from Mark Scaife
09:08He's made a bit of a gap, pulled a few
09:10tenths of a second there and the pressure
09:12is just beginning to come off Mark Scaife
09:14a little bit. He'll be able to relax a little bit more now
09:16and conserve those
09:18Bridgestone tyres and hold him to the finish
09:21The gap back to Larry's
09:23opened up as well
09:25Let's have a look at where they are on the track
09:27There's Perkins, Nick Johnson-
09:29Here comes Jason Bright having a bit of a dive down there
09:31He's just a bit away from that shot
09:33John Bauer, he is having a shocker
09:35Really struggled for setup
09:37in qualifying. They've had a little bit of speed in the warm up
09:39this morning, been a tangle with Jason Barguana
09:41He looks down the inside now of
09:43Junior Johnson
09:45and does get away with it
09:47moves inside
09:49up to tenth spot
09:51He was saying yesterday
09:53it's always quite interesting to go to the
09:55afternoon session on a Saturday when
09:57they get a chance to talk to the public and the public get a chance
09:59to meet the drivers and John Bauer
10:01was asked
10:03what's going on and what's happening. He said well I don't know
10:05I think I might go and have a look at Dick's setup
10:07He's coming so well this weekend
10:09Well that's exactly what they spoke about
10:11after qualifying. Johnson running a
10:13different brand of shock absorber
10:15to the set on Bauer's car
10:17Shock absorbers at this level of competition
10:19are just so crucial to the performance
10:21of the car, particularly in terms of tyre performance
10:23So the plan was that John
10:25would switch over to
10:27Dick's setup to hopefully get some more speed out of the car
10:29but he is struggling. Sitting back there
10:31just outside the top ten
10:33eleventh position
10:35Barguana's got another
10:37position. He's got himself ahead of John Faulkner now
10:39so he is up to twelfth. That's a terrific effort
10:4115 spots from
10:4327th up to 12th. Jason Barguana
10:45is going extremely well
10:47He's lapping quite quickly also
10:49as well as gaining those positions. Mark Larkham
10:51in behind Faulkner. So here he is
10:53the 26 year old from Melbourne
10:55stepping up from the
10:57Formula Holden category last year
10:59where he finished runner up to Jason Bright
11:01into the V8 Supercars this year
11:03was team mate to Stephen Richards
11:05and Stephen Richards exit from the V8 Supercar
11:07category
11:09left the door open for Garth Tander to join this team
11:11and now Barguana I guess has taken
11:13over responsibility
11:15as the number one driver
11:17Well the gap in the front remaining absolutely
11:19static between Lowndes and Scaife
11:21the mobile one. Holden racing team
11:23Steve Holden continues 2.0
11:25in 2 seconds the gap between Lowndes and Scaife
11:27Ingle another 2 seconds back
11:29behind Picard for 50
11:31so positions remaining pretty static
11:35Going well out in front as he did in the opening
11:37race is Craig Lowndes. The HRT
11:39boys have got this one well
11:41under control. Ingle, Perkins and Johnson
11:43there your top five. We then go back
11:45to Glenn Seaton, Jason Bright who is still
11:47hounding our reigning champ from Romano
11:49Tander and Mao. More after this
11:51on your home of motors. We go back to Western Australia
11:53here he is, the kid
11:55Craig Lowndes is clobbering them
11:57here at Barbagello Raceway
11:59there's the gap back to his team mate Mark Scaife
12:01who should be pretty satisfied at the moment
12:03if he can remain where he is. That's 2 seconds
12:05for the day. That's very good for him. Now Lowndes
12:07is coming up on Jeff Kendrick at the back of the pack and also
12:09Darcy Russell
12:11Lights are on. He's saying can you please
12:13hop out of my way Jeff?
12:15I need to get by. We saw this happen
12:17in the first race with Jason Barguana
12:19and Darcy Russell and
12:21both him and John Bauer came off second best
12:23when they came together after that incident
12:25Yeah Jeff actually waved him through there
12:27He did. We saw him coming up
12:29Craig Lowndes on the Bridgestone driver
12:31profile. Stunning performance
12:33Australian Touring Car Championship. 16
12:35starts, 4 poles, 9 wins.
12:37Incredible winning ratio
12:39and it looks like it's going to continue that form
12:41in the sands of Barbagello today
12:43Mobile 1
12:45Commodore Car 15
12:47coming good at a critical time in the championship
12:49because the man who leads the championship
12:51right there in the middle of the screen
12:53Russell Engle and he is hanging on by his fingernails
12:55here. Doing a tremendous job
12:57in a car
12:59that doesn't look quite as quick as those two
13:01in front of him. He's really struggling to stay
13:03There's that telephone number on screen
13:05again for our Northern Territory
13:07trip and if those people
13:09who will, for any of you who'd like to go up there
13:11that's the number to call
13:131-800-621-336. We have had, just for your
13:15information, an unbelievable
13:17response to that. There is going to be a mammoth
13:19crowd up in the Territory
13:21It's such a trip. It's going to be a
13:23magnificent trip and a really momentous
13:25occasion for the Australian Touring Car
13:27Championship. We've got a lot of fans up
13:29there. North Queensland as well
13:31top end of Western Australia
13:33in the Territory. So
13:35there's going to be people coming from everywhere
13:37as well as the Southern States. It's going to be
13:39one hell of a weekend. That's later in July
13:4119th from February
13:43Here's a bloke who's going to enjoy going to Hidden Valley
13:45as he's enjoyed a lot of the races this season
13:47Dick Johnson
13:49Shell Helix onboard camera
13:51riding with the veteran. He was in scintillating
13:53form at Ballarat
13:55Got up to second position
13:57starting from second in the final heat until he got
13:59squeezed the turbine, put the car across the kerbs
14:01damaged all the steering and his day was over
14:03but there was no doubt about the speed from the car. Very quick
14:05in qualifying here and good
14:07strong performance in the race too. Currently running in the
14:09top five. Johnson fifth just behind Larry Perkins
14:11Big change there. Jason Bright and
14:13Paul Romano have got in front of Glenn Seaton
14:15So Bright is on a charge at the
14:17moment. The lap before last
14:19he was the quickest out there. So he
14:21is certainly moving up on Dick Johnson. Paul
14:23Romano is having a very consistent day
14:25I'm quite sure what's happening with Seaton. He's moved back
14:27and just can't quite seem to stay with it
14:29Lap 14 of 20. Now Jeff
14:31Kendrick's feeling the pressure from the rest of the
14:33field. Here they come
14:35barging their way through
14:39Van Guinen is up to 10th on track
14:41Trying to pass
14:43Jeff Kendrick there and he's just
14:45moved off into the dirt and the sand
14:47Gotta be careful too
14:49the tyres are obviously very very hot when they get
14:51on that sand. It really can upset
14:53things when you arrive at the next corner. So you've got to be
14:55careful to make sure you keep off
14:57the dirt and the sand around here
15:01Lowndes continues to hold that gap at the front
15:032.2 seconds. Jason Barner
15:05Yeah, he was running in 10th
15:07Oh, that car's not going anywhere either
15:09It's dug itself right into the sand
15:11After moving up, just taking John Bauer
15:13And that's in a very
15:15very bad position. They might even have to
15:17bring out a safety car for that one. I'm not sure
15:19That's pretty disappointing isn't it? From 17th
15:21to 10th. And he is just
15:23going to be so disappointed with that
15:25As we go back on board with Glenn Seaton
15:27Now he's got Garth Tander in front of him
15:29So, Tander's
15:31moved through in the Balmolene Covents Commodore
15:33So Glenn Seaton not having a very happy time
15:35of things at the moment. Up around as he goes
15:37through Barbagallo Corner
15:39And down towards Cole
15:41Great moment for the young Western Australian
15:43The Australian, or reigning Australian
15:45Formula 4 champion. His first
15:47run in a V8 supercar in front of this big
15:49home crowd. There he is
15:51And what a wildest
15:53car you can see there as Glenn pointed out
15:55in a very precarious position right
15:57on the apex of Cole Corner
15:59I guess if they know
16:01the car's there, can they continue to run the race
16:03under yellows? Well, you know
16:05you're taking out a big part of the circuit
16:07obviously with those yellow flags out
16:09And really, you know, it's still
16:11a dangerous spot, even though all the drivers may
16:13find out that it's there
16:15I'm a little bit surprised they haven't put in a safety car
16:17because it's a very
16:19expensive piece of equipment with its nose sticking
16:21out of the track
16:510.4 seconds behind our race leader
16:53Slow down, he's doing what he said
16:55He's getting out there, conserving
16:57the car, running a pace where he can control
16:59the race from. He's doing it very effectively
17:01Had a great run at Malala in South Australia
17:03He's down to yours, Paul Romano's
17:05been trying to get past him and obviously
17:07may have got a little bit impatient
17:09That's the second incident today that Paul Romano's
17:11been involved with. He was involved
17:13in another one in Race 1 with John Faulkner as well
17:15So, officials keeping a
17:17close eye on the young Queenslander
17:21Stopped Goffhead on his side
17:23Coming up on the start line there, but I don't know
17:25what that's for
17:27I've just heard from race control
17:29the stewards are interested to talk to
17:31Mark Scaife
17:33Glad Seton's just taking guard, Tander back too
17:35on a move
17:37Lap 17 of 20, so he's starting
17:39to run out of time. Seton's got his
17:41stuff back together
17:43And he's now starting to pull away from Tander
17:45John Bauer, his horrid day continues
17:47He's a spun-off at the end of the main straight
17:49And we've got a
17:51stop-go penalty here
17:53Paul Romano has just been given a stop-go penalty
17:55from the officials
17:57Sorry, I'm getting involved with that tangle with
17:59Danny Osborne, the privateer
18:01We're going to bring him in now
18:03Three laps remaining in Race 2 of 3
18:05So, we're winding it down
18:07Glenn Singh on screen at the moment
18:09There is the Bauer incident
18:11Turn 1
18:13I don't see any other car around him
18:15I mean, Junior Johnson was a long way behind
18:17So, that's not going anywhere
18:19obviously
18:21What a horror weekend
18:23Isn't that amazing how you can go from
18:25winning the round at Winter
18:27Tremendous speed he had in the car
18:29at Valhalla
18:31Just imagine him stewing away
18:33That hot cockpit sitting down there stuck in the sand
18:35And we're looking at our race leader
18:37Car 15, the Mobile 1 Holden Racing Team
18:39Driver
18:41Craig Lowndes has done it so smooth
18:43He's had four races in his career
18:45in V8 supercars at this circuit
18:47And he has won all four, this is his fifth
18:49And he's looking like keeping his record
18:51perfect
18:53I'll tell you what, we haven't had a clean sweep of the results
18:55No, not once this year, not at all
18:57With one driver winning all three races on the day
18:59But the way Lowndes is going
19:01It's almost a carbon copy
19:03of Heat 1
19:05They just have the edge, these Mobile 1 Commodores
19:07And it'll be a carbon copy of 96 too, Mark
19:11Here's the battle amongst the privateers
19:13And Romano
19:15Heading for the pits this time around
19:17So, let's stop, go, penalty
19:19Ashby and Crick having a great ding-dong here
19:21They're running in outright positions
19:2317th and 18th position
19:25on the track
19:27And there's John Briggs
19:29A good liner for privateers
19:31But here's the battle for the privateers
19:33Greg Crick, the trust-backed Ericsson Commodore
19:35Feeling the heat from Trevor Ashby
19:37in the Dulux Autocolour machine
19:39It's pretty funny the other day
19:41Some people saw Criggy and they said
19:43Oh, I noticed how you got back in the car
19:45Nice and quick there, Greg, after Dean Croswell
19:47Did so well last week at Malmar
19:49Well, it's a good machine
19:51Bobby Tindall
19:53Suspender work on that builds a good, strong engine
19:55And a nice, consistent race car
19:57Larry Perkins just weaving
19:59his way past Malrose
20:01We go on board now with Malrose
20:03as they whizz on by down into Yokohama Corner
20:05We're running out of time very rapidly
20:07Here's Mal working hard
20:09He's behind the wheel, he's further back in the pack
20:11Back in 21st position
20:13out of the 27 cars
20:15on here at the moment
20:17This is Jason Bright in the Pertek Ford
20:19sneaks on up the inside through Turn 1
20:27There's our race leader, Craig Lowndes
20:29picking his way through the slower traffic
20:31just sneaks inside the Landsmeier machine
20:33But he really
20:35has got this
20:37situation under control
20:39He's got the best package out there
20:41and he's using it to maximum effect
20:431.8 seconds the gap over Mark Scaife
20:45He's just been hovering around that
20:47high 59, 60 second
20:49lap time bracket
20:51and just conserving the car
20:53Craig's got the lights on now
20:55just sort of showing the other guys
20:57that he's coming on through
20:59As he comes across the line
21:01the chequered flag is out, Craig Lowndes
21:03makes it a perfect score so far today
21:051.8 from 2
21:07and Mark Scaife's team mate gets in for 2nd
21:09Russell Ingle 3rd
21:11So a carbon copy of the first race there
21:13for the top 3 positions anyway
21:15The Mobile 1 HRT boys are going to be
21:17quite delighted with that
21:21Lowndes waving to this huge crowd
21:23here at Barbagallo
21:25Can he do it again? Can he repeat 1996?
21:27All shades of 1996
21:29He hasn't got the advantage that he had back then
21:31But still, he's winning races
21:33Is that anything that counts Dick Johnson?
21:35He's also taken the lead in the championship
21:37So there's the man who
21:39has just lost his lead in the championship
21:41Look at him shaking his head
21:43It shows the frustration that Russell feels
21:45with that car
21:47It just can't quite match the speed
21:49of the Mobile 1 machines
21:51He's just powerless to do anything about it
21:53The thing is though, at least that he's there in 3rd
21:55and he's getting valuable championship points
21:57It's better than a DNF or a crash
21:59or whatever
22:01To obtain the ultimate performance
22:03from any race tyre
22:05pressure is critical
22:07Prior to the use of these
22:09pressure relief valves
22:11we started races at a very low pressure
22:13and that's where the
22:15pressure relief valves
22:17came into play
22:19The pressure relief valves
22:21are designed to
22:23allow the tyres to
22:25hold the tyre
22:27for as long as possible
22:29We started races at a very low pressure
22:31which caused the car to be very nervous
22:33for 3 or 4 laps
22:35but since the introduction of these valves
22:37we can now start with a much higher
22:39pressure, making the car very stable
22:41in the early stages of the race
22:43and when it builds up pressure
22:45it will exhaust the excess
22:47air from the tyre when it gets to the
22:49desired pressure
22:51One wheel nut? Not many people think about
22:53one wheel nut per wheel
22:55but that's what these cars do have
22:57It's a safety device, when it's out like that
22:59it's locked, when it's pushed in like that
23:01it's unlocked and they can take the nut off
23:03These are just some of the things
23:05that make for lightning fast pit stops
23:07in our longer races
