Spotty storms continue amid heat and humidity in the Northeast

Thunderstorms are expected to continue for days in the northeastern U.S. before a front moves east late this week.

00:00The flash flood warning had been in effect for areas around Newport News has expired.
00:04There's still some thunderstorm action moving into the area though. We have to keep an eye
00:07out for this next round and also up into parts of northern Pennsylvania. Crawford County facing a
00:12thunderstorm not far from Edinburgh and near Cambridge Springs. Meadville, Sagertown also up
00:17into places near the area of Corrie, Pennsylvania and off to the east into Warren County as well.
00:22The showers up to the north are a little bit less eventful here. Not much lightning but there are
00:26some showers nonetheless up into parts of the northern Adirondacks into areas around and near
00:32and north of Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake and into areas around the high peaks. Some sprinkles not too
00:37far from Lake Placid as well. The temperatures have been held in check by this. Now we did hit
00:4390 today in Baltimore and Washington so we added our 31st and 32nd 90 degree day of the year to
00:50the tallies there. In fact we're close to where we were last year for the entire summer total
00:55and in D.C. we averaged 40 days of 90 degree heat. We're at 31 and again maybe we're a little ahead
01:01of pace. We've already locked in an above average number for the whole year in Pittsburgh
01:05though we are shy of 90 today in Philly, New York and Pittsburgh. I don't think any of us are going
01:09to see 90 again this week in the northeast. We're back to 88 at the moment in D.C. It is in the
01:14evening obviously. We've seen our high 90, 91 today in Baltimore and D.C. but more showers and
01:20thunderstorms tomorrow are going to be keeping temperatures down just a smidge. Great shot there
01:25from near the area of Rochester from our friend Joey Frascati there. Fantastic videography there
01:31from aviation shots to other things like the weather and he's got a knack for it there. But
01:37look out for more storms up into Rochester tomorrow. Some of these could be strong to severe
01:41with gusty winds and some flash flood concerns in the lower Great Lakes area, the Finger Lakes and
01:47up into northern New England. Then into Thursday the front moves east. This will bring relief but
01:52it will also spark a new slightly more focused round of thunderstorms for interstate 95. The
01:57big cities Baltimore, D.C., Wilmington, Philadelphia up into Trenton and all the way up into Boston.
02:02These are the areas where we're most concerned about. Thursday's gusty thunderstorms with flash
02:06flood potential as well but look at this behind the front. The front reaches the east coast
02:12Thursday night into early Friday morning and then we have a great Friday set up here with high
02:16pressure, dry, pleasant weather and temps are going to be very comfortable still below average
02:22by a smidge but delightful weather out there with lower humidity.
