Here are some of the prettiest villages in Sussex
Transcript
00:00When the Daily Telegraph published its list of the top ten prettiest villages
00:05in Sussex, all of us here at Sussex World realised we'd be pretty remiss if we
00:09didn't have our own say. So we pulled together, we drew on several lifetimes
00:14worth of experience, both professional and personal, living and working in these
00:19beautiful communities to find some of our favourites. And this is what we sort
00:23of narrowed it all down to, because the South really does have it all. You know,
00:27we've got beautiful communities nestled in the rolling hills of the South Downs
00:31and we've got gorgeous little hamlets sort of situated right on the coast and
00:36some of the best beaches in the entire country. So there was a lot to pick from
00:40and it was a really, really hard job, but we did it! And who would we be if we
00:44didn't? So sit down, have a cup of tea and maybe find out if there's somewhere you
00:49haven't seen yet, somewhere you haven't visited, somewhere that might be worth
00:51looking into for a trip later this summer. There's a village store
01:03and a very popular pub.
01:21It really is very, very pretty, isn't it?
01:38And there's footpaths that take you out into the countryside.
01:54Take a walk over Amelie Wildbrooks, absolutely beautiful.
02:08The church of the 12th century.
02:38And there's a handy tea room.
03:38It's a real hoody-woody village.
04:08There's plenty of walks you can do in Slyndon.
04:37It's lovely to sit by the village pond.
08:07So we've just come through a gate into this open field and you can see we've
08:26got ahead of us a wonderful walk that is going to take us up the river. Isn't that
08:32gorgeous? We've reached the River Ada and we're
08:35going to be following it for a reasonable way. You need to stay with
08:39the river on your right hand side and follow the riverbank. So many swans, look
08:46at them all. It's a beautiful day for walking up the river. Not quite sure I
08:57expected to meet this cow who seems quite interested in me. I might go down
09:04the hill. The views here are absolutely wonderful.
09:22We've just climbed over a stile and now I'm back on grass. We're still following
09:28the riverbank. At low tide you can see the remains of an old quarry here and
09:36apparently a trackway ran from here to a quarry at Small Dole. This old railway
09:42bridge is part of the Downs Link. You might be lucky and spot some grey heron
09:49and white egrets in the marsh here. So there you have it, some of the prettiest
09:55places in Sussex from some of the people who know it and love it best.
10:01There's plenty of options there. Take a trip through the South Downs and settle
10:04up with a pint in a cozy pub right in the heart of the countryside or cozy up
10:10with some fish and chips on one of the prettiest beaches in the country.
10:13The choice is yours and there's plenty to pick from. Thank you so much for
10:18watching. We've been the Sussex World team and it's been a real pleasure
10:22listing some of our favourite villages for you.
