00:00What up y'all, it's Tyrus Halliburton here,
00:02point guard of the Indiana Pacers,
00:03and these are 10 things I can't live without.
00:11So my first essential would be the Bible.
00:14Over the last two years,
00:15my religion has become very important in my life.
00:18Just understanding that I'm made in the image of God
00:20and in a world where you have a bad game
00:23and they're killing you on social media
00:25or confidence goes up and down.
00:27I can always come right here, this is like my peace.
00:29Just understand that I'm made in his image
00:31and he's the only one who can really judge me.
00:33Growing up, like the verse that everybody got tattooed on
00:36was Philippians 4.13,
00:38I can do all through Christ who strengthens me.
00:40And I always believed in that,
00:41but I just, I never read the Bible.
00:43So it's been important to me the last two years.
00:44I didn't go to church or nothing like that growing up.
00:46So when I got to the NBA, they do chapel before every game.
00:49So when 60's on the clock, there's always a meeting
00:51where both teams, coaches,
00:53everybody's welcome to come in
00:54and do like a 15 minute service.
00:56Harrison Barnes was my vet.
00:57And so I used to always go with him
01:00and then when I got traded,
01:01just start going with Buddy and now Buddy's gone.
01:03So it's really just me most of the time
01:05and it's been really good for me.
01:10All right, so my next essential would be these right here.
01:13Just some loafers, everydays.
01:15These are Doc Martens.
01:16Everybody got these, everybody should own a pair of these.
01:19I got these in like every color.
01:21I mean, I got a pink pair, purple pair, blue pair, red pair.
01:25And these right here are some vintage products.
01:28I'm a grail demon, I be on grail looking for everything.
01:31So I be calling like Michael Jackson's
01:33or something like that.
01:33Like they just, they look fly, so I rock with them.
01:36Last like two, three seasons, my style has changed a lot.
01:39I used to be like every other player in the NBA,
01:41wear sneakers to every game with a graphic tee,
01:44some colored jeans and call it a day.
01:46But I realized I wanted to switch my style,
01:48be a little different than everybody.
01:49So I started wearing these.
01:51I remember the first game that I wore these was in Brooklyn
01:54and I felt like weird,
01:55but I also felt like fly at the same time.
01:57So then I kind of just stuck with it.
01:59And now it's really my everyday, my go-to,
02:01my stylist, Olivia, you know, we started doing that.
02:04This isn't just for the tunnel or for show.
02:07This is really who I am.
02:08It's just my everyday look.
02:09It just really fits who I am.
02:11My next essential would be white tees.
02:18I literally wear a white t-shirt every day.
02:24I always keep a fresh pack of white tees on me
02:27and I'm a bad folder.
02:29So y'all see right now, it's just, you know, wrinkled up,
02:31but I always keep a steamer in my suitcase too.
02:34Make sure I steam the shirts before I wear them.
02:36I got a bunch of fresh packs in my house at all times.
02:38So they start getting, you know, dirty or whatever.
02:42I'll get rid of it, open a new pack.
02:45Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
02:46Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
02:48I mean, it's not one wear per shirt.
02:50I mean, I got money, but like, that's ridiculous.
02:53I'm gonna get my wears out of these shirts.
02:54I'm gonna get a few in.
02:55Once I start seeing like the bacon neck
02:57where it get all crazy, it's gotta go.
02:59When I'm doing laundry and I got fresh pair of white socks
03:02or I grab a shirt and I grab a fresh pair of white socks,
03:04if the white's too off, then the shirt gotta go.
03:12My next essential would be my gaming setup.
03:14A lot of people be on PlayStation or Xbox.
03:16I kind of moved away from that.
03:17I went to PC at the crib,
03:19but I realized that I do everything on PC at the crib
03:22and I travel and I be on Xbox or PlayStation
03:24and I don't have my data, my save on it.
03:27So I put all my games on this right here, my hard drive.
03:30You know, I can play everything on here.
03:31WWE, 2K, Call of Duty, Madden, everything on here.
03:35So that makes my life easy.
03:37I'm not a mouse and keyboard player.
03:39I don't really know how to type for real.
03:40Like I used to cheat in class and type with like,
03:43so I always keep a controller on me.
03:46And I know people like Joel see me with this controller.
03:49He was cooking me.
03:49He's a PlayStation guy.
03:51I grew up a PlayStation guy,
03:52but this connects to Windows the best.
03:55And then this right here, my mic.
03:57I recently started a YouTube channel
03:58with my little brother, Hellburn Bros.
04:00Make sure y'all go subscribe.
04:01You know, we can, you know,
04:02play through the cloud or whatever,
04:03put it on the mic and be good to record
04:05and get videos out.
04:07The main game we play in my house is WWE.
04:10Now that I made my little WWE appearance in the garden,
04:12you know, hopefully 2K can, you know,
04:14kind of a little transfer my character from NBA to WWE
04:17and I can be like a little DLC
04:19and get a little Easter egg in the game.
04:21That would be dope.
04:22That would be, that would be really cool.
04:24My top five games ever.
04:26Number five, I'm gonna go with Mario Party.
04:29You can, you can pick any of them.
04:30I grew up playing on the Wii.
04:32So whatever Mario Party was on the Wii, number five.
04:34Number four, I would say is Mario Kart.
04:37That's just easy for everybody.
04:39There's real smoke on that game.
04:41Number three, SmackDown, Here Comes the Pain.
04:44I think it's the best wrestling game ever.
04:46No question.
04:47Number two, NBA 2K11.
04:50Maybe it's just nostalgia that does it for me,
04:51but Mike was on the cover
04:53and I think that was like the first game in my career.
04:56And then number one, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.
04:59I mean, unbelievable game, best maps, real smoke on there.
05:03And that was like when I really got into Call of Duty,
05:06getting in game chat, not party chat,
05:08where the real smoke is.
05:09On the 360, I had the mic that was hooked over one ear.
05:13That was hard.
05:14My next essential would be my jewelry box.
05:17I recently got into watches over the last like two years.
05:20So I got a Cartier Crash on right now.
05:23This is like my dream watch.
05:26After the end season tournament,
05:27we got that little bonus, spent it all on this watch.
05:31That's what I got.
05:32This is my first ever watch, Rolex, Presidential Day-Date.
05:35My newest pickup, Cartier Pebble on a white band.
05:40Now this right here is my,
05:41on a white band.
05:43Now this right here is my, one of my cheapest watches,
05:45but it's the most sentimental and my favorite by far.
05:48Back in 2023, when I signed my deal,
05:51my agent called me to tell me that the deal was done.
05:54I was in a store and I was so geeked.
05:57This is the first watch I saw.
05:59I said, I want that one.
06:00If I'm like playing bad or something,
06:02I like put this watch on.
06:03I don't know why.
06:04It just like makes me think like humble beginnings.
06:07My logo chain, I've had this since the draft.
06:09I wore this on draft night.
06:11I got a white gold one.
06:12I got a, I got a gold one.
06:15What I got under here?
06:15I don't even know, fam.
06:18Oh yeah.
06:19And I got this Homer chain.
06:21I ain't really seen anybody in the NBA rock this for real.
06:23So that's what made me get it, just to be different.
06:26I like being different.
06:28You know, I got a couple more chains
06:29in the works right now.
06:31So I'm excited for y'all to see them when they done.
06:35My next essential would be my toiletry bag.
06:37I'm sure y'all see every NBA player got a toiletry bag.
06:40Y'all see, I stopped the low cuts.
06:42They're growing my hair out.
06:44So I need like curl product, all that stuff
06:46to make sure I'm looking right.
06:49Curl activator.
06:50I told y'all I cut my hair.
06:52Defining spray.
06:53Told y'all I cut my hair.
06:55What's this?
06:56Face wash.
06:56I put a little travel thing and I wrote on it, face wash.
06:59Yeah, I'm tripping for that.
07:01What's this?
07:02Yeah, I'm tripping for that.
07:04What's this?
07:04Face lotion.
07:06Cotton pad wipes.
07:07Super essential.
07:09Cotton pad wipes for sure.
07:11Deodorant.
07:12Leave-in conditioner.
07:14Toothpaste.
07:16My toothbrush.
07:17And that leads me to my next essential,
07:19which would be my barber.
07:26This is my barber, Taren.
07:28He been cutting me since I got traded to Indiana.
07:31It's funny, we met on the road in like Orlando.
07:32He live in Toronto, so he was just on the move
07:34and that's where we met.
07:36We kind of been rocking ever since.
07:38Yeah, it's been a long time now.
07:39I travel around for a few different clients
07:41and then, you know, this one of my main guys.
07:44Not just a client at this point.
07:45He lets me work on my Toronto slang.
07:48Yeah.
07:49Don't know why I go out in there, you know.
07:50Don't know fam.
07:51Don't know.
07:52Yeah, whenever you don't know.
07:53Come on, broski.
07:54All that, you know.
07:55I ain't gonna lie though, like,
07:58say my name.
07:59Yeah.
08:00I'm gonna wrap a little touch up right there.
08:01Gotcha.
08:12He the king of,
08:14my cut gonna be an hour.
08:15An hour and a half.
08:17Hour and 45 minutes.
08:18I'm gonna be in a chair for a minute,
08:19but it's worth it.
08:21It's always worth it.
08:22Can't be looking like a scrub.
08:25Watching some dudes in the league,
08:26I ain't saying no names, bro.
08:29My next essential would be my iPad.
08:35I spend a lot of time out here on the road
08:37watching movies, TV shows.
08:39They send me my film through here,
08:40so this is what I watch on the road.
08:42If I'm not in my room, you know,
08:43if I'm on the go, I usually have this with me.
08:46TV shows I'm watching right now.
08:47Criminal Minds Evolution.
08:49I started Entourage recently.
08:52I gotta watch The Wire, Break It Bad.
08:54Something else, big passion of mine, WWE.
08:56I watch that a lot.
08:57Sometimes I'll just go on Peacock,
08:58or the old WWE pay-per-views or whatever,
09:01and just watch 90's stuff,
09:03looking like Stone Cold, The Rock,
09:06Young Taker, Young Sean.
09:08If it was up to me and I could transfer
09:10my basketball ability to be good at something else,
09:12I'd be a WWE superstar for sure.
09:14Oh yeah, she would kill me if I didn't say
09:18I've been watching Gossip Girl a little bit too.
09:20XOXO.
09:22Me and wife, me and wife have been watching Gossip Girl,
09:24so that Gossip Girl fire, I don't care what nobody say.
09:29My next essential would be headphones.
09:32I keep two pairs on me at all times.
09:34I keep earbuds, AirPods, and then I keep
09:36over-the-ear joints for the plane,
09:38because I fall asleep, these don't fall out.
09:40I don't do phone calls without AirPods.
09:42It feels weird when I have the phone in my ear.
09:43It's gotta be AirPods.
09:45And then just over-the-ear ones for the plane, that's all.
09:47I'm not a hype music guy.
09:49I never really got down with that.
09:51I like to listen to stuff that calms me down,
09:53some chill stuff.
09:55I really like old soul for real.
09:57I really listen to a lot of old stuff,
09:59so Michael Jackson, my all-time favorite artist,
10:01I listen to a lot of that.
10:02I listen to a lot of Drake.
10:04I feel like I grew up in his come up.
10:06I ain't gonna lie, Shaboozie put me on the country music.
10:09I wouldn't listen to country like that.
10:10I wasn't jacking it.
10:11And then Shaboozie came out,
10:13and I met him at the White Party, super cool dude.
10:15Once I started listening to Shaboozie,
10:16then I got into Morgan Wallen.
10:18Tommy Richmond, Tommy Richmond, nice.
10:20Big X the Plug, he's like that.
10:22But yeah, I listen to a lot of old music for real,
10:24like Jay-Z, Ye, Alicia Keys, stuff like that.
10:32My next essential would be my back pillow.
10:36I've had back problems since I was like 16,
10:38so I probably got like six, seven of these at the crib,
10:41just for my gaming chair, dinner table.
10:44I just grab one to go on the road, whatever.
10:46It's like essential.
10:47I need to be sitting upright.
10:48You can probably see right now,
10:49ever since I pulled this out, I started slouching,
10:51but it's supposed to give me that lumbar support
10:54to make me sit upright.
10:55This is definitely an essential.
10:56Now we doing that, I'm gonna put it back.
11:00There we go.
11:03Appreciate you having me, GQ.
11:04Hope y'all enjoyed my essentials.
11:05See y'all next time, peace.
