00:00After flooding yesterday, residents in Marikina City received heavy rains.
00:06Mark Makalalad of Super Radyo DZBB has more on the spot.
00:09Mark?
00:11Heavy rains, tree branches, garbage, and many more.
00:16This is what was left by flood victims here in some places in Marikina after heavy rains poured.
00:24In the area around Super Radyo DZBB, we were able to reach the residents who are in trouble here in Barangay Malanday
00:31who don't know how to clean.
00:34The branches are too thick and hard to remove.
00:38Their story is that they slowly went back in time, so they quickly left the evacuation center to clean.
00:45They also looked at the things they wanted to save if they can still be used.
00:50Currently, they are appealing for help from the local government to clean their area.
00:55They need fire trucks for flushing operations and they also need shovels to carry garbage and trash.
01:06Aside from Barangay Malanday, heavy rains also hit Barangay IVC Culusan yesterday afternoon.
01:14According to the local government, they are starting wide cleaning in areas affected by heavy rains.
01:24Meanwhile, let's update on Marikina River.
01:27The water level is low and it's only 15.4 meters as of 7 a.m.
01:34This is the significance of the first alarm.
01:36Yesterday, the highest water level in Marikina River, which reached 20.7 meters, reached the third alarm.
01:46Because of this, more than 30,000 individuals were evacuated from the evacuation centers in the city of Marikina.
01:56Back to you Connie.
01:58Yes, Mark. We were just talking to Mayor Marci Teodoro and he said that even though our countrymen are returning to Marikina,
02:06there are still many problems in cleaning.
02:10What assistance can the local government give so that they can return to their homes?
02:20Of course, do they have a place to stay because of the diseases they brought?
02:27You're right Connie. You know, you were just talking to the evacuation centers.
02:31Many of those who evacuated yesterday are returning to their homes.
02:36What Mayor Marci Teodoro told us in our consultation with him is that he will immediately send people who are available,
02:44including their resources, to be used in cleaning.
02:48This will be done as soon as possible because he saw that the roads in particular are problematic and thick.
02:57In addition to the assistance that will be provided to the residents, aside from the food that was provided to the affected people,
03:05they will also be distributed medicines for leprosy, for the health of the residents and to prevent diseases.
03:13We also heard that more than 30,000 individuals were evacuated to Marikina.
03:19Regarding those 30,000, do we have data on how many are still staying in the evacuation centers because they cannot return to their homes?
03:32Concerning those 30,000 who are still staying in the evacuation centers, Mayor Marci Teodoro told us that he will immediately send people who are available,
03:40including their resources, to be used in cleaning.
03:44They can stay and clean their homes, but he promised that he will provide assistance to the affected residents.
03:55All right. Thank you very much Mark Makalalad of Super Radio DZBB.
