00:00I mean, they can't help themselves, right?
00:03I think this is a result of, you know, when you are used to or a party of largely one
00:11gender and one identity and also lots of political families and dynasties, sometimes it feels
00:21like people who've earned their spot are a threat to the people who have really benefited
00:27from a lot of privilege in having their spot.
00:30And so their attempt at doing that is saying anybody who, you know, has rightfully earned
00:34their place here is DEI.
00:37I call it working your a** off.
00:41Yeah, I'm not surprised by that, right?
00:43We all recognize what people mean when they say DEI now, right?
00:46And it is, it has become a safe way of basically using a racial slur against black folks, not
00:51just black folks, but particularly black folks.
00:53So I'm not surprised.
00:54We have seen this type of rhetoric from this caucus for some time, obviously dating back
00:59to Barack Obama and the very unfair things that they've said about him.
01:04We've seen the imagery that people are willing to use.
01:07We've seen, if any of you live on Twitter, X, whatever it's called now, you've seen the
01:13harassment that black members of our elected bodies and regular black folks have to deal
01:19with the harassment, the incessant name calling.
01:23It's our reality now.
01:24So I mean, I think on one hand, maybe the most surprising part of that is that he's
01:27actually asking his caucus to cease that.
01:30I hope that they will continue that stance.
01:32I hope that they will be very vocal about that.
01:33And I also hope that when they see it, they will nip it in the bud and they will call
01:36it what it is.
