Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (July 25), Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli said the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) will be used for the first time in investigating a commercial crime case that led to the busting of the syndicate responsible for the RM24.2mil bank fraud in Kota Kinabalu.

01:13Their accusations were made
01:16after the investigation has proven
01:19that their actions are a threat to the public order.
01:26All of them were found not guilty,
01:29and the court has set the date
01:32to be 13 September 2024,
01:37in the High Court of Kota Kinabalu.
01:40All of the court's requests have been rejected,
01:43and they will be detained in Kepayan Prison, Kota Kinabalu,
01:47under section 259 of the Penal Code.

01:56that the Commercial Crimes Investigation Department
01:58has used the SOSMA Law,
02:00or the Special Measures Act of 2012,
02:04in an investigation involving commercial crime cases.

02:17that the crimes committed by this syndicate

02:34and ended on 22 July 2024.
02:39The investigation has shown
02:42that more than 50 law enforcement officers
02:47and low-ranking police officers
02:49have acted in small task force.
02:53It involves millions of ringgit in all ranks,
02:57and synergies every officer

03:03to bring the investigation today.
