00:00Our opening game of our 2024 US Tour ended in a draw over 90 minutes followed by a shootout
00:06win against Bournemouth in Los Angeles.
00:09Fabio Vieira drilled home a fine volley in the 17th minute to hand us a half-time advantage
00:14but Antoine Semenyo's deflected shot brought the Cherries level on 72 minutes.
00:19However, a good number of our travelling squad got some useful minutes under their belts
00:24as they build up for our game against Manchester United in Sophie Stadium on Saturday.
00:30We then ran out 5-4 winners on penalties with Karl-Hein the hero denying the Cherries twice
00:35before Jacob Kiwir stepped up to convert our 6th penalty.
00:39Fabulous from Fabio Michel Arteta opted to start with a mixture of youth and experience
00:44with Aiden Heaven, Ethan Nwaneri, Salah Edai Noladmahand and Myles Lewis-Skelly all given
00:49the nod to start and all put in solid displays during a strong opening 45 for us.
00:55Despite us enjoying the majority of possession in the early stages, the opening chance actually
00:59went to the Cherries but Dominic Solanke blasted over when well placed, however, in the 17th
01:04minute we made our early dominance pay.
01:07Reiss Nelson was fed on the left flank by Nwaneri and tricked his way past Max Ahrens
01:12to get to the byline and clip across to the back post.
01:16That was where Vieira was lurking to expertly volley into the bottom corner and get our
01:20tour off to the perfect start.
01:23Bournemouth had named a strong side packed with their Premier League starters and with
01:27more minutes under their belts understandably began to grow into the game around the midway
01:31point of the first half and cause us more problems.
01:35Romain Favre went close when he fizzed a low shot across goal and then on 35 minutes Solanke
01:40seemed destined to score when he slipped past Heaven and blasted goalwards but Karl-Hein
01:44showed excellent reactions to flick the ball onto his crossbar and ensured we took our
01:49lead into the break.
01:51Mikkel opted to make just one alteration to his line-up at the interval with skipper Martin
01:55Odegaard being introduced and just after the hour mark and after a quiet opening 15 minutes
02:00of the second half that only saw another Solanke shot fly into the crowd.
02:05Seven more players were introduced by the boss, including our quartet of 2024 Euros
02:10stars Bournemouth battle back.
02:13The injection of fresh legs sparked the game back into life and Hein had to be at his best
02:17when a neat flick from Daniel Jebbesen sent Dango Watara through on goal but the Estonia
02:22stopper stayed big and made the block before Odegaard whipped a free kick goalwards that
02:27Neto pushed around his post.
02:30But on 72 minutes the Cherries restored parity, Semenya won possession off Omar Rekic and
02:35charged forwards and saw a speculative attempt deflect off Ben White and looped towards the
02:40top corner and this time there was nothing Hein could do to prevent it from finding the
02:44net.
02:45With seven minutes remaining it looked as though we might edge back in from when a fine
02:49Odegaard pass slipped in Leandro Trissard who twisted and turned in the area to get
02:53a shot off but Neto blocked with his feet to deny us a win.
