00:00It's hot out here. The fifth or sixth pre-season, we're trying to work out which one you played a part in most,
00:06but how does this one feel different for you?
00:09It's a lot different for obvious reasons.
00:12New management in, new staff,
00:16new style of play, so we're all trying to get our heads around it.
00:20But we've had a few weeks now, played a game back in Liverpool,
00:25and I feel like the lads are coping really, really well,
00:29especially with the style of play.
00:30It's really enjoyable to play in and it's a new skill to learn.
00:35So it's a great opportunity to learn things and learn different things.
00:40And to do it out here, it's great.
00:42Because the physical pressure is obvious that it's tough,
00:46but there's a mental side to it as well.
00:47You've got to take on new ideas from a new coach now.
00:50Absolutely.
00:51It's one of them where you need to kind of forget what you've learnt the last couple of years as well
00:56and learn new things.
00:59But that's football, you're always learning,
01:01you're always having to adapt and to be a better player,
01:05be a better person.
01:06And it's one of those situations now,
01:09we just need to keep on going and keep listening to the staff and the boss,
01:13and make sure we apply it into the games and into the training sessions,
01:17and I'm sure we'll be fine.
01:19You celebrate five years here on Sunday.
01:21Wow, it's gone very quick.
01:24It's been five unbelievable years and hopefully many more to come,
01:28but I just need to stay working hard and keep getting my head down.
01:33I'm playing for this team, I'm playing for the badge,
01:36and I've loved every minute of it.
01:38You're still young yourself, but you're a senior player now,
01:40and it's obvious when you look at the way you train,
01:42you're taking on that role with the younger players as well,
01:45taking some of them aside.
01:46Is that a big part of your targets now going forward for this season?
01:50Absolutely.
01:52As you said, I've been here five years on Sunday,
01:54and I feel like throughout those five years,
01:57I've always had those players around me to look after me,
01:59to take me under their wing and give me pointers.
02:02So, I feel like for the young lads especially,
02:06some of them are really young.
02:08Myself, I was a bit scared to speak to people and ask questions,
02:14but I feel like if I can be around them,
02:16if I can even help them a little bit,
02:18or just even let them know that I'm there if they need anything,
02:21I wouldn't say it's really my job,
02:23but I'm just doing it because I've had that as well,
02:26and it helped me out a lot to get where I am today.
02:28Everyone here is unbelievable players,
02:31and we want to get them to the best possible place in their career.
02:34As I said, if I can help them out, then I can.
02:38You've surpassed 100 appearances already for your boyhood club,
02:40but you set big targets for yourself every single season.
02:43This season will be no different.
02:45Yes, absolutely.
02:45I want to play more games this season.
02:47I want to start more and cement my team.
02:51Supporting the team, and I'll do what it takes.
02:54I feel like I'm at the age now where I need to take a lot of responsibility on,
02:57and it's upon myself now to go out and do it.
03:01This season is going to be a big one for me.
03:04As I said, I just need to keep working hard and keep taking on the responsibility myself,
03:09and just apply it into everything that I do.
