00:00Working with Anthony Hopkins, like, it's more than a bucket list experience as an actor.
00:04It's like, what a privilege. What have I done that means I'm allowed to do this?
00:09It's absolutely crazy. But talking of his stories, there was this one time they were
00:15doing this one scene where I have to come in and deliver a big, intense, long monologue to Tony,
00:21who sat behind the desk looking at me, her father's looking at me. And obviously, I'm going
00:28over and over and over in this. And we'd rehearsed it a few times, and it's feeling good,
00:31and it's feeling nice. And we're about to go for the first take, and Tony's like,
00:34hey, Joe, Joe, Joe, come over here, come over here. I'm like, all right, yeah,
00:37is everything okay, Anthony? And he's like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just, you know,
00:40tell me to shut up if you want, but do you mind if I give you a note? And I'm like,
00:47yes, yeah, go on, then. That'd be really nice. If you want to give me a little bit of acting
00:51advice, that would be probably very, very valuable. And he said, try a different job.
00:56And he said, yeah, have you thought about becoming an Uber driver? And that's what I
01:01do now. He says to me, he's like, the last time I had to do a scene a bit like this,
01:09it was me and Marlon Brando. I'm like, okay, all right. Very similar then, yeah.
01:17And he's like, the key is, the key is, come in and say it really bloody loudly,
01:26which sounds really stupid and is a joke, but what he's actually saying is, come in,
01:30give it to me, be confident. Don't be fazed by the fact that I'm, you know,
01:35one of the greatest living actors of all time. Come in, give it to me. I want to play. And that
01:43was one of the most amazing things about working with Tony. It's like, he loved playing. He was
01:46having so much fun every day. Proper, proper, inspiring gentleman.
