00:00What's up? Paul here from Guitar World, and today we're going to be checking out
00:02IK Multimedia's exciting new online platform, Tonet. Let's check it out.
00:21What is Tonet? Well, Tonet is a free web platform with social features dedicated
00:27to guitar and bass players for exchanging Amplitube 5 presets with other users and for
00:33finding the latest ones from VIP artists and popular musical instrument brands. It's also
00:38open to other musicians or anyone interested in what's happening in Amplitube's ever-expanding
00:42universe of tone. And best of all, you can join the Tonet community for free. Everything
00:48about Tonet is designed for making it your home base and community center, for managing
00:53your profile, exchanging Amplitube presets with other users from around the world, and
00:58for finding the latest ones from VIP artists and brands. At Tonet, you can check out all
01:03the shared new sounds and try them out or upload your own, follow other users, plus
01:08you can access Tonet from within any version of Amplitube 5, even the free custom shop
01:13edition. You can also connect via your favorite web browser for everything outside of uploading
01:18or downloading presets, which has to be done within Amplitube 5. In Amplitube 5, you have
01:24direct access to Tonet, where you can see all presets, your presets, and liked presets.
01:29You can also zero in and refine searches with a multitude of filters. You can click a preset
01:35to download immediately or preview and listen to its audio demo. If a preset has gear you
01:41don't own, you'll see the lock button, but you can demo it for up to three days via the
01:45custom shop. Presets can include the entire signal chain, including pedals, amps, cavs,
01:50virtual outboard gear, and rooms. Uploading your preset is super easy. Select one of your
01:57saved presets in Amplitube 5, hit the upload button, and fill out the preset info form.
02:03Plus, you can add and record an audio demo from your computer or add SoundCloud or YouTube
02:09links with it. Then just hit share, and your preset gets uploaded to Tonet with your signal
02:14chain and settings for all to see. Very easy to search new presets. Once you pick one,
02:20it displays all the relevant info and signal chain, as well as a sound sample. Let's take,
02:26for example, if I want to find presets with Randy Rhoads, I can type in Rhoads, and then
02:32hit return, and it's searching for presets on Tonet of Randy Rhoads. And you can see
02:39all the Randy Rhoads presets from different users.
03:00Let's do Van Halen.
03:09Brian May.
03:40That's a signal chain. And you can see that's his amp. That's what he's using. He's also using a Rockman
03:47sustainer in there. And then you can see his pedal boards. Here he has a battery-powered
03:57amp on a 9 volt, which is cool.
04:09And you can take a look at his crazy signal chain, what he's got going on here, from his
04:23pedals to where it goes. This is the room sound. He's got it in a controlled room here. And of
04:30course, he's got a wet-dry mix. And then, of course, you see all the outboard gear that he's
04:34using to get that sound. And then he harmonizes it on the very back end of his signal chain.
04:41There's the harmonizer.
04:57Let's take a look and listen to some of the presets I created for Tonet. So go into my
05:01profile, check that out. I did a bunch, like a great cross-section. I did like one metal. I did a bunch of
05:07Marshall type of sounds. So there's some really cool stuff in there. And I did also some country
05:12as well, and some really edgier type of sounds. And it's all over the place. So take a listen.
05:19And of course, as you dig in, you'll notice that I do like the Marshall type of sound. I definitely
05:24love the Memory Man, and I definitely love compressors. So let's dig in and try out some of
05:30these. Here's Sweet Leslie is her name.
06:00Marshall Wall of Rhythm.
06:31Paul's Marshall Wall of Havoc.
06:49This is on the edge of Breakup and Beyond. This is a different one.
07:00On the edge, which is a little more like a pumpkin-y type of deal.
07:30This is, oh, another Marshall preset. Hi-Ho using all silver Jubilees. Marshalls.
08:00Paul really likes the Marshall sound, and I got a very different varieties of that.
08:14Here's Paul trying to be doing the best Jeff Buckley recreation here.
08:30Edgy neck driver. This is another alternate tone using your neck.
09:00Country Chime Sparkle. This is more of like my Brad Paisley.
09:31And here's a different alternate take on that. This is Country Glitter Sparkle. Sort of the same
09:53sound, but a little more different frequencies.
10:10Delayed on the street, which is sort of a U2-ish.
10:41You can see right now I split the signal three ways, and over here you can see I have a chorus on this one,
10:51and then you have three different of this Amplitube style, what they call the MiniPlex 20.
10:59And what's great is I can swap out any one, and then get to hear what that sounds like within the...
11:10And then if you want, and going here, if you want to hear what it sounds like there it had the chorus on.
11:28No chorus.
11:36Of course, if you're using the signal chain, I can add in other effects. Right here, drop it right in.
11:43You can see, you can even add a Phase 9 here. Really go nuts.
12:13I can move this anywhere in the chain, however I want it, and if I don't want it, I can just get rid of it.
12:39Audition different types of cabinets. I can even put a sort of a 410 if I wanted to.
12:50Add a 412 if I feel like it, like an orange.
12:56Or if I want more of a metal cabinet sounding.
13:06Add one of these cabinets, a Satch.
13:14Can move the microphones closer, however you want it.
13:20You can even get in there, change all the settings here.
13:25Pan left and right. Move these microphones.
13:30You can even get to the VR tech here, where you can start moving the speaker anywhere around.
13:36Rotate this anywhere you'd like.
13:41VR tech.
13:43This is cab 1. Right over here, cab 1, the room is this one. Let's take a look.
13:50I can even change the room if I want. Try different rooms.
13:56Put it in that.
13:58You can change the speakers.
14:02Different types of speakers to choose from.
14:05Obviously you have your choice of mics.
14:09Then there's the collection.
14:11This is where the brands and artists like. This is like a Dimebag collection.
14:15You can just pick something. That's just the speakers.
14:19You can see the amps. If I hit amp, and look under the Dimebag collection, it tells me the amps I'm available.
14:27If I hit on pedals, the Dimebag for example, where is he?
14:34Those are the pedals he uses.
14:36Then you get to the outboard gear over here. We have a bunch of outboard collection of gear.
14:46Where I can add modulation, even on the end of the chain.
14:53Delay. I also like dynamics, so I like to put...
14:58You can put one of these in there, add a little dynamics.
15:04And then of course, once you have this all set.
15:08Once you find what you're looking for.
15:12I can take this thing and upload it to ToneNet.
15:16Here I can save it.
15:18I can save it.
15:20I can save it.
15:22I can save it.
15:24I can save it.
15:26I can save it.
15:28I can take this thing and upload it to ToneNet.
15:32Here I can save it as an orange metal destination.
15:43I'll put it in my own folder, which is PJR.
15:49I'll open that up.
15:51As you can see, the artist is GuitarWorldPaul.
16:01The name of the song is Orange Metal.
16:09The album is PJR Album.
16:13Song, I say it's a good riff.
16:16However I want to do it, it's a high gain definitely.
16:19Let's put that under metal.
16:22It's electric guitar.
16:24Instrument type, it's a solid body.
16:27Bridge pickup, definitely pickup type.
16:31And then any keywords I want to search for, orange.
16:36Let's say orange sound.
16:38Orange.
16:40Then I can save this just like that.
16:44And if I'm ready to upload it, just go like this.
16:47And you can see, Orange Metal, I put out all this stuff.
16:51I can even do record a link.
16:54I can do a record, what I want it to sound like.
16:59Here we go.
17:00Gives me a countdown.
17:18And then all I got to do is click on share and boom, it goes right to ToneNet.
17:23ToneNet is a valuable addition to IK Multimedia's Amplitude V's massive tone studio for guitarists and bassists.
17:30This online platform is community building, if you will, at its finest.
17:35ToneNet is simple to use and navigate through with the ability to easily share, preview, upload and download presets to use among this burgeoning ecosystem of artists and musicians.
17:46The ecosystem of artists and players that utilize it, myself included.
17:50It's wildly fun to use and create, save presets.
17:54Not to mention, the sounds of the gear in Amplitude V are flat out superb.
17:59If you haven't already, definitely check it out.
