00:00Here we go then, Sean Noakes and Mason McKett, highly popular as indeed is Bassi, as you've
00:18heard from me, his support for both, making his 8th professional appearance tonight, two
00:22years on Noakes from his debut, and the last year has been somewhat frustrating, a character
00:29last September in the points victory over Lucas Barabas at Wembley, after putting him
00:34down in the first with a great shot, he ended up breaking his thumb in the second and to
00:40a points win in some degree of pain, but Bassi as well, 12-1, the only defeat coming very
00:48early on in his career, the one stoppage that he's managed against Alfie Winter, that was
00:54the summit area title a year ago, and this is, well his first outing of the year was
01:01only a few weeks ago, so he's very quickly back into the ring, but interestingly enough,
01:07Sean has asked who he's been sparring against, and he said tall people with long arms.
01:14Yeah, I mean, well that's what you want to be doing when you're fighting someone like
01:17Bassi, we can see how the fight, well we expect how the fight's going to play out here, Bassi's
01:22going to keep it at range, he's going to be losing that jab, not letting Noakes get
01:26too close to him, and Noakes has got to be moving his head just to get inside that jab,
01:31and on the shots to the body as well, he's a lot shorter than Bassi, so he needs to get
01:35close.
01:36Well Noakes has called it a very good step up in quality of opponent, but he said it's
01:43one that I think I'm capable of overcoming, I expect to win in good fashion, but it may
01:52go long.
01:53I think it would be fair to say that's correct for both these guys, it's easily the hardest
02:00fight for Bassi and easily the hardest fight for Noakes, so it'll be interesting to see
02:04just how it plays out.
02:06We know that Noakes does possess the power in his punches to stop an opponent, but it's
02:14whether or not he can get inside of that jab, he's trying to get in there now, and Bassi
02:19back onto the ropes, but he ain't going to stay there too long, because he doesn't want
02:25to be feeling too much pain early on here, but interestingly enough that Sean's brother
02:32Sam actually sparred with Bassi, whilst there may well be a little bit of inside information
02:39that he could have used.
02:45I think that we're going to see a lot more of that there as the night goes on, just as
02:49the boys slow, their feet slows down and they get a little bit more tired, I think we're
02:52going to see Sean Noakes trying to impose his strength as he gets close, and this will
02:58be Bassi's plan, flick that jab out, boxing move, try and land the odd uppercut maybe
03:04as Noakes comes in with a head low, that's a good shot from Bassi, a nice right hand.
03:12Good right hand and he felt it, and Noakes tried to come back swinging with that overhand right.
03:27The first round with both hitting each other at mutual sign of respect as they go to their
03:34respective corners.
03:42Whatever your goals, let's get going.
04:03Tomorrow begins today with Nat West, proud partner of Team GB.
04:12Backwards, Noakes's corner, and that jab, again, just being taught as you can see, to
04:19prove that you cannot be a sitting target for that jab of Bassi's.
04:27He's got to keep his head moving, Sean Noakes, as he gets close, and from a distance I think
04:34that middle range is probably the danger area for Sean Noakes, he needs to be way out of
04:39range or very, very close to Bassi.
04:46And again, just getting roughed up a bit, and the referee will just have a quiet word.
04:55Grew up in a family, Bassi said, who were obsessed with combat sports.
05:01His grandfather, who came over to the UK from Punjab, was actually a fighter, and he should
05:08have stayed in around his day job working for Ford over in Dagenham, and his uncle actually
05:13was an Olympic judge.
05:23You can see Bassi's jab, it's working nice from the outside, but you can see what Sean
05:28Noakes is trying to do.
05:29Once he does get close, he's trying to impose his strength, and it's almost a little bit,
05:36a bit brute force.
05:40Just needs to tidy things up when he's close, I think.
05:45And remember, as the old saying goes, nothing more expensive than a missed opportunity,
05:50and both are viewing the fact that there's a belt on offer here as a massive opportunity,
05:55first time they've ever picked up a belt.
05:58But it's how long Bassi can keep him at bay.
06:01He's very used to going the distance in fights, but he isn't, maybe, used to somebody who's
06:08going to be swarming all over him.
06:13Yeah, Bassi's going to be the more experienced in terms of the rounds that they've done,
06:16but Sean Noakes, I don't think he wants this.
06:19The good points, he's had three stoppages in his last four fights, so clearly the puncher
06:24in the fight, but Bassi would maybe argue that he punches harder than his record suggests
06:28as well, and normally, a lot of the times, these big, long-ranging, lanky guys, if they
06:32hit you on the end of their shots, you definitely know about it.
06:38That was a nice little short uppercut there from Sean Noakes.
06:45Game works in hard to the body, gets Bassi back onto the ropes, but he's still got a
06:52game.
06:59Again, there's that joke about that sneaky little uppercut, and it found its way through
07:03once more.
07:04Yeah, it's a good shot.
07:05If you're looking at the dimensions, these two guys, you think if anyone's going to land
07:08the uppercut, it's going to be Bassi, but it's landed a couple of times now for Sean.
07:13Oh, that was a good right hand there by Bassi, brings a smile to Noakes' face, but he did
07:23feel that.
07:34Well, it's done enough maybe to take this round, as Noakes, there is the belt.
07:43And looks comfortable, Bassi is the one who's got a bit more on his plate.
07:49Onwards, my brave warriors.
07:52Onwards to victory!
08:00Oh, yes, Simon.
08:02I think I'd like to invest a bit more in the chariot.
08:04Maybe add some blades.
08:05Let me check the dashboard.
08:07If it's for work purposes, blades are tax deductible.
08:10Oh, fab.
08:12Intuit QuickBooks for accountants helps you work more efficiently.
08:14So finding time for clients is less of a battle.
08:16QuickBooks, for the hero behind the hero.
08:18Come on, Roger!
08:38Sometimes it doesn't always tell you the complete story of a fade.
08:41After two rounds, I think that Sean Noakes is being the aggressor.
08:45He's coming forward.
08:46He has landed an uppercut a couple of times.
08:50I think the first round was close, but I have him winning the first two.
08:54Bassi trying to swing it onto the ropes and work into the body.
09:01Maybe he needs to alter the narrative a bit, because all you can see here
09:05is the time clock running down on how long it's going to take Noakes
09:09to perhaps get him into the corner and unload some brutality.
09:17That right hand, yeah, it could be a dangerous shot now.
09:19And I think Noakes just has to be careful.
09:21It's landed clean a couple of times from Bassi.
09:24And that was a nice reply from Noakes, just before Noakes gets tumbled to the ground.
09:37There's a big target to the body there in Bassi's body.
09:40Noakes needs to be jabbing a little bit more to the body.
09:45And once he does, Noakes is going to come back to him and he's going to be
09:47in a lot of trouble.
09:49needs to be jabbing a little bit more to the body and once he does that, once he
09:54starts jabbing and it's landing then he'll have the opportunity if he's
09:57close enough to land that right hand over the top. I think that's a shot he's
10:01just neglecting a little bit.
10:08And two very very good jabs once again from Bassie. It's not enough to stop his
10:17man coming forward, looking for the right hand, just pulling out the way. Just in time, there's the uppercut again from Noakes.
10:29Just a little welt appearing under the left arm, Bassie. Doesn't look too bad at the minute.
10:42Looking to the referee for a little assistance.
10:47And again, looking for the big right hand. You know the damage that can do from past encounters.
11:02Again, ducks out the way of the jab and then catches him twice.
11:07The left hand homing in on his target. No defence there from Bassie. There goes the uppercut again.
11:13Again, good variation of punches here from Noakes.
11:20But it's important all the time that the adrenaline is pumping here for Noakes, that he doesn't forget his defence.
11:26No, he has to remember that at all times. The head needs to keep moving but again, like I said earlier on, I think he's just neglecting that straight jab to the body.
11:35And the right hand finds its way home but nothing is causing too many problems for Bassie at the moment.
11:43He got caught by one there and then Bassie sticks right to the body which let him know that he was still in with a shot here.
11:50And that decided that with a bit of hurt.
11:54Take, take, take, take, take my money.
11:59The Mini Fillet Statbox from £2.99. Believe in deals. Believe in chicken.
12:05Take your everyday.
12:11And make it extraordinary.
12:13With What Car's Car of the Year 2024. All new Lexus LBX.
12:44But he just needs to be careful. That right hand from Bassie has landed a couple of times from distance.
12:51And it's normally a counter shot as well. It's after Noakes jabs.
12:57Let's remember for the British and English, that was a good short right hand there from Bassie.
13:14Then managing to duck under the jab.
13:21And that's important as well. We've just seen Bassie just tying Noakes up a little bit there.
13:25I think he has to do that when Noakes gets close. I don't think he's probably not the best inside fighter on the planet.
13:32His dimensions will tell you that alone.
13:34So I think when he does his work from a distance, anytime Noakes gets close he just needs to tie him up.
13:39That was another decent right hand he just threw there.
13:43And again, once he gets anywhere near close to the rubs, you can see that uppercut come winging in.
13:50Again, hook to the body once again, ducking underneath the Bassie jab.
14:00He's really not comfortable at the moment, Bassie, dealing with this opponent in Noakes.
14:06As I said, they're both fighting pretty much the best opponent of their careers at the moment.
14:12It is Noakes who is certainly dealing with it the better.
14:19Yeah, but I don't think we can sleep on Bassie. I think that he's a good fighter.
14:23And like I said, that right hand has landed a few times.
14:28He's looking a little frustrated.
14:32As Bassie can see in the body language.
14:36It is a little bit untidy at times, the fight.
14:41But it's important not to let your frustration spill out.
14:43If your opponent sees that you're frustrated, I think it just becomes an easier game for him.
14:48But he's settled into the task well.
14:52Disciplined performance for the majority of it from Noakes so far.
14:56That was nice. Look at that. There was a little slip inside the jab.
14:59And just a kind of jab in the upward trajectory from Noakes.
15:04And again, lovely stuff.
15:10Again, the jabs and the follow-up from Bassie falling short of the mark.
15:16He's got to really try and get back to what he was doing in the first part of the opening round
15:21when he had Noakes at a distance.
15:25And he was pinging at that jab.
15:29And stomping Noakes in his trap.
15:31But Noakes has taken it.
15:32And it's almost like he's saying, yeah, I can take all of those.
15:34Those are no problem for me.
15:36Yeah, I think so.
15:37I don't think Noakes is too concerned about the power coming back from Bassie.
15:41And that could be an issue for him going forward, yeah.
15:46Catches him again right at the end of the round.
15:49Another round in the bag then for Sean Noakes.
15:54I mean, you're pulling him to try to get down on him.
15:56Come on, you've got the nerves with this jab. You're waiting for him.
15:59This is how he just slips the jab.
16:01Gets in his side looks to drive by the uppercut.
16:04That was nice work.
16:05Normally, typically, after you slip a jab, it's a left hook.
16:08But he was clever there.
16:09And he just threw a kind of up jab.
16:12Up the crawler.
16:13And the studio was very good at that shot.
16:15But no, it's nothing.
16:17Nice and clean.
16:18He's all right.
16:24Here we go.
16:25The neutral stance.
16:26The AI stance.
16:29Here we go.
16:30You're up.
16:31You're up.
16:32And we've got the hands down.
16:34Big grip.
16:35What he's going to be careful of when he's done this
16:38is the fact that he doesn't go and give too much away
16:41in the early stages of his fight.
16:43And ends up tearing him in the latter stages.
16:46I think that the style that he's kind of imposing here,
16:49I think that he wants to get close.
16:51And when he does get close, he wants to be physical.
16:53But Bassi, he's certainly the stronger man in the fight.
16:56And if he does get close and manhandle Bassi at times,
17:00that will certainly zap the energy from him.
17:09Oh, that's a nice jab.
17:10And again for a short right hand.
17:12And again.
17:15And he'll try to switch to work to the body of Nox.
17:19Trying to do very things himself.
17:21And Bassi, nothing much at the moment,
17:24is doing anything to stop this relentless momentum.
17:35And he's enjoying his night's work.
17:39Good right hand there from Nox.
17:40But both guys seem to be a little bit frustrated.
17:45It's a decent fight,
17:46but it has been a little bit untidy at times.
17:52Again, easily just slipping out of the way of the jab.
17:55And that was a bit wild from Nox.
17:57Goes back in to try and get those uppercuts working again.
17:59And he snapped the head back there of Bassi.
18:03And he certainly felt it.
18:06But at the moment, it is simply about perseverance
18:09and persistence for the Ilford fighter.
18:15At the end of each round,
18:16I mean, the statistics in terms of the punch stats
18:19have been pretty close.
18:22But like we said,
18:24it doesn't always tell the story of a fight.
18:27When you're looking at it from the eye,
18:29it looks to me that Nox seems to be in control here.
18:40And there's a sneaky little uppercut.
18:44Oh, good left hook as well from Nox.
18:56It was a nice jab just landed there from Bassi,
18:58but Nox kind of...
19:00Just brushes him off, doesn't he?
19:01Yeah, he brushed it off and pushed him back to the ropes.
19:05I don't think he's got too much concern here
19:08from Bassi's power.
19:11That's a lovely jab from Nox.
19:28Yeah, it's about timing.
19:29And it's about distance control.
19:31And it's about being able to slip the shots and counter.
19:39It's interesting here that the best jabs in the fight
19:41have been coming from the shorter guy.
19:43Smaller man, yeah.
19:44Good shot, it's a good shot.
19:47Wild Swing, another good round for Nox.
20:08Let's get into the studio and get the views
20:11of Anthony Kraler on the way this has gone so far.
20:24Yeah, I've got Short Nox comfortably up here.
20:27I think Karl mentioned it at the end of that last round.
20:31What's happening is Short Nox is winning the battle of the jabs,
20:34which is surprising to a lot,
20:36against the taller guy.
20:37I thought Bassi had a good first round.
20:40There's a few cute shots.
20:41But after that, it's nearly been all Short Nox.
20:49There is the Anthony Kraler scorecard.
20:52And that's comfortably in front.
21:00But, well, who knows?
21:02Out of crises, you often find the odd miracle coming.
21:07And it's going to maybe,
21:09as this goes into the second half of the fight,
21:12and the control is increasingly dominated by Nox,
21:16might need something like that to swing in Bassi's direction,
21:20get this fight back on his terms.
21:22Bassi's marking up a little bit around the eyes.
21:26Nox has just started really fast in this round.
21:29Maybe he senses Bassi's slowing down a little bit.
21:38The uppercut could be a very useful shot here for Bassi,
21:41but he hasn't threw it too much in the fight.
21:43He tried it there.
21:44Yeah, he waits until Nox is literally on top of him
21:48before he tries to break that uppercut
21:53through Nox's defence.
21:58Oh, look at that.
22:00Nox is going to have to go for it.
22:03Nox's defence.
22:07Oh, lovely shot from Nox.
22:13That jab from Bassi, it needs to be,
22:15it needs to change the tempo of it,
22:17but it's probably one-taste.
22:20It is. He looks as if he is tiring.
22:24And again, there goes the left hook,
22:26but just before that, two uppercuts,
22:28there goes that right hand.
22:30He pulled out of the way just in time there.
22:32Nox is where he doesn't want to be.
22:33This is where Bassi, though, tries to sink those punches
22:37into the body, get those hooks into the body of Nox.
22:43But there simply isn't the power in them.
22:47And it's not causing any distress whatsoever to Nox.
22:52Now, Bassi's allowing Nox to get a little bit closer now,
22:55but I don't think he wants him to get closer.
22:58I think it's just down to him being a little bit tired.
23:01He's probably not moving as freely as he would like.
23:06But Sam Nox is trying to fight at a high pace.
23:08He's trying to come forward.
23:09He's trying to put it on Bassi,
23:10and that can be a difficult night for him.
23:12And that was a nice right hand under,
23:14just under the elbow to Nox.
23:17Good shot from Bassi.
23:20The problem is, though, isn't it,
23:22that these are one punches at one punch every now and again?
23:26Yeah.
23:31And we can see when the guys get up close,
23:38and there's a little bit of a hold,
23:40you can just sense that Nox is draining
23:44a little bit of energy out of Bassi.
23:59Yeah, he's in control.
24:00He's in control.
24:01I just think that Nox needs to try
24:04and put a little bit more pressure on.
24:06Ryan Garner in the building.
24:09His fight with Archie Sharp,
24:11the WBC International Super Featherweight Championship
24:15coming up a little bit later on.
24:22Archie Sharp.
24:25And this promises to be...
24:28This promises to be a very, very...
24:30Yeah, there's a couple of fights on this card
24:32that I'm really looking forward to,
24:34and this one is one both guys have sparred,
24:36done a lot of sparring with both guys.
24:38Both can fight.
24:44Round seven, then, of ten
24:46for this English welterweight title.
24:51A title, or a belt,
24:53which has been held by some illustrious names
24:57in the past.
24:58When you go back through history,
24:59John H. Tracy, Lloyd Hannigan, Kell Brook.
25:03And, of course, going on to world honors as well.
25:08Remember Kevin Lueching?
25:10Who very nearly did for the Phoenix Trinidad.
25:12But here, Nox is back to Bassi up.
25:16Oh, good left hook.
25:20Who's it for?
25:23Bassi, sometimes, he's a little bit tame with that jab.
25:26Sometimes it's very nice, and he throws it out.
25:29It just needs to be something more
25:31just to keep Nox from plodding forward here.
25:35He lands the jab,
25:36but I just don't think there's too much behind it.
25:43The gun shield is up,
25:44so we'll have a temporary stoppage here.
25:48I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet
25:50about gun shields falling out.
25:51I have no idea.
25:52A gun shield never fell out of my mouth in my whole career.
25:56If you're getting it fitted properly by a dentist,
25:59not one of these ones you stick in a kettle for a little while.
26:02I mean, they shouldn't fall out.
26:06Oh, nice shot.
26:08Good right arm as well.
26:10This is where Nox wants to be,
26:12at close quarters,
26:13drawing Bassi into,
26:18basically, a war.
26:20Both guys opening up here a little bit now.
26:24But it always looks to be Nox.
26:25A little Bassi's landing as well.
26:27Nox looks to be the one that's having more success
26:29just with the hurtful shots,
26:30and Bassi's cut now under the radar.
26:38I think Nox would like more of the same.
26:42Bassi again has to turn him and get off the ropes.
26:46Yeah, we can see an increase in the tempo here from Nox.
26:49I think he's sensing that Bassi is slowing down a little bit.
26:54It's good stamina, good strength here,
26:57being shown by the 29-year-old.
27:00Paced himself well.
27:03And there again, tries to sneak in the uppercut,
27:06and it's Bassi who's doing the holding now.
27:11Trying to tie him up and just frustrate,
27:13but when again they get in at close quarters.
27:15The shots that are landing, the shots that are hurting,
27:18are coming from Nox.
27:25Now Bassi's learning to get closer,
27:28and that's where I think Nox needs to be
27:30a bit more precise with his shots.
27:32Yeah, a bit untidy.
27:33Yeah, he's looking to the head,
27:34he's looking to throw his left hooks to the head
27:36when he's up close,
27:37but I think if he targets the body,
27:39as Bassi's thrown, he could have a lot of success.
27:44And he's been trying to land the big right hand.
27:48It hasn't managed to be at a distance
27:50where the hurt has remained when he does find his target.
27:59But artistry and finesse,
28:02not really a key ingredient here.
28:04It's all about brute strength and power,
28:06and he is winning the battle here.
28:14It's been quite a high pace this fight,
28:16and both guys are obviously feeling it,
28:19but I'm just looking at the corners,
28:20and Bassi seems to be feeling it a little bit more.
28:23That cut under the eye as well isn't going to do him any favors,
28:26but this is what we're seeing more and more of
28:28as the fight goes on.
28:30Sean Nox getting close, both landing,
28:33but the more hurtful shots seem to be coming from Nox.
28:39You're absolutely right.
28:40Again, if you look at the punch count,
28:43Bassi is matching it to the amount of punches that are thrown,
28:47almost.
28:52There you go.
28:54To underline what we just said, the AI punch stats.
29:00And overall, probably not a big difference
29:02in the punches landed from the guys,
29:04but again, it's the more eye-catching shots
29:07coming from Sean Nox.
29:11Bassi is, if anything, a master
29:14of plotting a proficient route
29:17to taking opponents right the way to the distance.
29:21Only the one that we remember on his record
29:23came a few years ago, and...
29:25And...
29:29And he was in trouble again, Bassi,
29:31with Nox putting him on those ropes again.
29:38Once again, even when they're at distance,
29:40the jab, doing what he was doing early on,
29:45just doesn't carry anything of any significance
29:48that's worrying his opponent here.
29:50Nox is quick to get in underneath the jab,
29:52he got caught by the uppercut by Nox.
29:55But it was a good shot there landed by Nox,
29:57he did get caught, but...
29:59Bassi's got a good chin,
30:00he's took some pretty clean shots here.
30:02Nothing's really looked to have rocked him properly yet.
30:06He can definitely take a good shot.
30:13Round 8 of 10, the fatigue will begin to creep in.
30:19It's not new territory for Bassi, he's been there before.
30:29Oh, lovely shot there from Nox.
30:33Again, the shots that you expect a taller fighter
30:35to be landing, the jab and the uppercut,
30:37are being landed by Nox.
30:39One, two.
30:45Garryn turn away from the overhand,
30:47right there again goes the jab.
30:50Right hand falling short again gets him
30:53and this is where you expect him to...
30:58No, that's a good shot.
30:59What he did was collaborate,
31:01just touched the left hook to the hand
31:03and he tried to put one into the body,
31:05Oh, nice stuff there from Noakes.
31:07Now beginning to open up, Bassey might be in a bit of trouble here.
31:11You can see him gently sinking.
31:13He's gainly holding on to it.
31:16Noakes is just going to bide his time and choose accuracy over number.
31:20Good left turn followed by a straight right,
31:22and in goes another uppercut.
31:24Noakes could maybe be on the brink of halting this.
31:28Bassey is in big trouble, still half a minute to go.
31:31Look how brave Bassey is.
31:32He's thrown back.
31:33It may not be the smartest thing in the world to do,
31:34but he's a brave guy.
31:36Game, short right hand, landing flush on the chin.
31:40At this stage in the fight, when you look at Bassey
31:42and he's flagging like he is,
31:44you can see that he's sucked all the energy out of him.
31:46This is where Sean Noakes needs to put more punches together,
31:49and he just landed a great right hand.
31:50Yeah, he did.
31:51That was as close as he came to one of his right hand specials.
31:57Finish!
32:00End of a brutal round for Bassey,
32:04and another one that is in the back for Noakes.
32:15Yeah, the most one-sided round in the fight so far.
32:18But you have to give credit to Bassey.
32:20He's a brave kid, as brave as he come.
32:23You can just see that the energy is sumping out of him,
32:25and he's learned Noakes now to get close.
32:27And when he stands for a second on the ropes,
32:29that's when Noakes is having his great success.
32:32That uppercut was a lovely shot.
32:38Again.
32:42Whatever angle you look at it at, it was a brutal shot.
32:49Bonus two seconds.
32:55Second round, round nine.
32:59Round nine.
33:01And all Noakes really has got to do is to play out these two rounds.
33:07No real need to take unnecessary risks.
33:10Just continue to do what he's been doing.
33:14Bassey, if he's got dreams of getting his hands on the belt,
33:18then he's got to do one thing, and that is literally stop his opponent.
33:22Yeah, he has to win by knockout.
33:24Can you see it happening to him?
33:26It's going to be difficult.
33:28I think that Noakes, although he's winning the fight by a mile,
33:33and that's the most important thing,
33:34I think the icing on the cake for him would be the force of stoppage.
33:38And with Bassey slowing down,
33:40if Noakes can just pick it up another gear,
33:42I know it's difficult to do in a ten-round fight when you're nine rounds in,
33:46but if he just can pick it up another gear,
33:48I think that he might be able to do the job.
33:51But again, I can't credit Bassey's bravery enough.
33:56Brave, brave guy.
34:21Bassey is out of the way once more.
34:24But every time he's forced to move,
34:26he's sapping more energy out of him as he goes.
34:31There's the uppercut.
34:33It's a great shot, but he's kind of just stalking Bassey now.
34:36I think that the jabs from the start, the slowdown from Bassey,
34:40maybe not as hurtful as they were at the start.
34:42Maybe they were never that hurtful for Sean Noakes,
34:45but the pop isn't quite there for him anymore.
34:50It's a difficult position for Bassey,
34:52because the tactics have to be to move and jab from a distance,
34:55but when you've got this little bull stalking you and coming forward,
34:58it's hard to do.
35:06That balance and proportion here now for Noakes.
35:10But I think he feels that there's nothing that the opponent in front of him has got
35:21that is going to cause him any problems.
35:23And that's a horrible position to be in if you're Bassey.
35:26If you're Sean Noakes and you feel like you can take everything that Bassey has to offer
35:30and you just continue to walk forward, it can be demoralising.
35:40It's corny that he's shouting for him to use his jab,
35:44but it's easier said than done at this stage of the fight.
35:47Nine rounds in out of ten scheduled here,
35:50and he's been chased and closed down for the entire fight.
35:56Just a good short red hand there as well.
36:01Comfortable from Noakes again,
36:04and he's three minutes away from lifting the English Worldweight title.
36:21Well, he's got the family. Sam Noakes is ringside.
36:27Yeah, quality fan of Sam Noakes.
36:30He is. I tell you, he's been up and down and jumping.
36:33He's been living every punch that Sean has been throwing out there.
36:42Not to take anything away from Sean Noakes,
36:45but I mean, he can punch, certainly can punch a bit,
36:48but the puncher in the family had to be Sam Noakes.
36:50What a puncher.
36:51I'm just looking how animated Sean Noakes is here as he got up off a stool.
36:54I think he's going to have to take care.
36:5610th and final round.
36:5810th and final round,
37:01and Bassie has got to knock his man out,
37:04but that seems very, very unlikely.
37:13It's going to end with a flourish of activity.
37:16Some big punches thrown, some big punches landed.
37:19Can he do something that's very rare in the career of Bassie,
37:24which is dropping and stopping?
37:30But he's shown great authority,
37:32shown great discipline in this performance.
37:34That was a good uppercut, though.
37:35Yeah, good shot from Bassie,
37:37but there was a nice right hand as well from Noakes,
37:39came over the top.
37:43There has been the odd good punch thrown by Bassie,
37:48but there simply hasn't been enough of them.
37:50When he ends up in this situation,
37:52when he's on the ropes,
37:55then there's nothing that he can do apart from hold and run.
38:01That's telling just how the fight's going on.
38:03Sam Noakes is a mile ahead.
38:05Bassie needs to win by a knockout,
38:07but it looks to be Sam Noakes still trying to force a knockout himself
38:11and finish the fight with a bit of icing on the cake.
38:15It will be some real icing if he can get it.
38:20We're beginning now to get used to seeing
38:22performances of that character from Noakes
38:28a year ago when he had to dig in with that broken thumb
38:32and fight for four rounds.
38:34That just tells you something about the man, doesn't it?
38:37Yeah, tough guy.
38:38It's a difficult thing to do.
38:39I've had to do it myself.
38:41There's a lot of fighters when they hurt their arms,
38:43they make a complaint to the referee or to the corner
38:46and they pull out.
38:48It takes a tough guy to fight with a broken hand.
38:54Sounded like I'm calling myself tough, sir.
39:02Bassie will deserve a bit of credit for making him work
39:06every inch of the way to get his reward here.
39:10Again, Bassie's corner still bellowing out orders,
39:14bellowing out encouragement,
39:17trying to infuse their man.
39:20Let's see if there is one final hurrah.
39:22Then the right-hand swing,
39:24he's found his way through with a couple there.
39:26Again, making life uncomfortable and difficult for Bassie.
39:30A lot of blood coming out of Bassie's ear there.
39:32Yeah, there is.
39:33We can see Sean Noakes,
39:35Certainly for me anyway,
39:36I think Bassie's been brave in the fight.
39:38He doesn't deserve to be stopped at this late stage
39:41and I don't think he will be.
39:42But credit to both guys.
39:44Noakes, clearly the winner in this fight.
39:47But Bassie's been as brave as they come.
39:49Just hasn't been enough.
39:50Yeah, it's been a great fight.
39:53It's a good step up for Bassie.
39:55It's a good step up for Bassie.
39:57It's a good step up for Bassie.
39:59It's a good step up for Bassie.
40:01It's a good step up for Bassie.
40:03It's a good step up, said Noakes at the beginning.
40:05But I'm confident I'll win in good fashion.
40:08And he has delivered on his pre-fight rhetoric.
40:13I'm moving up fast.
40:15People are going to take notice of me.
40:18And I think after that, they will.
40:20Because he's shown not only the ability to win the fight,
40:24but it's the way in which he did it.
40:26He's got strength, he's got stamina.
40:28Yeah, and I think he's improving as well.
40:31To date, I think that's Sean Noakes' best performance.
40:35I mean, he's the older brother.
40:38I think he's the older brother,
40:39but he's probably living in the shadows a little bit of Sam,
40:42just because of what he's been doing
40:43and how he's been dominating opponents.
40:45And where he's at at this stage of his career.
40:48But that was a very, very good performance from Sean Noakes.
40:53That's what he says.
40:54But look at the stats, the official stats,
40:58AI stats provided by Jabba.
41:01There you can see.
41:02It's not like we said he didn't throw anything.
41:05I mean, in my opinion, it's been a pretty one-sided fight.
41:09But when you're looking at them statistics,
41:11it looks like it's been reasonably close.
41:14But I just think that the more talent shots were coming from Sean Noakes,
41:18and that's got to be the difference in this fight.
41:29Well, he looks like he's been in a war, doesn't he?
41:34And he has, but he survived it again.
41:38And there's still time for him to come again.
41:43Yeah, a brave man is Basi.
41:45And look, he didn't cover up,
41:47he didn't try and hide or anything like that.
41:49He was moving, he was trying to use his tactics,
41:51but brave, like I said.
41:54But for me, only one winner.
41:58Let's go.
42:06Ladies and gentlemen, after ten rounds of boxing,
42:10we go to the judges' scorecards.
42:13Judge Victor Laughlin scores it 97-94.
42:18And both judges, Kieran McCann and Sean McAvoy, are in agreement.
42:24They both score it the same, 96-94.
42:27All in favour of your winner, by unanimous decision,
42:32and now the English welterweight champion,
42:37Sean The Nightmare Noakes!
42:44It was never in any doubt whatsoever.
42:48Run the day, he said, or it runs you,
42:50and he has run this day, that is for sure.
42:53Sean Noakes, then, is the new English welterweight champion.
43:00Yes, he is indeed. Congratulations.
