00:00The projects that we design, we build in steel and concrete.
00:04They're going to be there a while, so we do our homework.
00:17World Showcase has always been a reflection of the real countries around the world.
00:21A celebration of the architecture, of the music, of the food, of the culture.
00:26And that's great, but what about the stories?
00:30Why not bring Remy and Ratatouille here to France?
00:37In the France Pavilion, they were really trying to evoke, legitimately, Paris, the feeling of being there.
00:43Remy's Paris is definitely a caricature, it's pushed.
00:48Very nice.
00:49Recreating the emotional world of animation into the architectural world of the park requires a bit of optical illusion.
00:57I can go bigger.
01:00At first view, it looks like a very traditional Parisian fountain.
01:04It's not until you get up close that you realize that the sculptures on there are rats holding champagne bottles.
01:12The fountain is a celebration of Remy.
01:14He's standing at the top, really majestically holding a big spoon.
01:19We wanted Remy's Paris.
01:21That meant bringing the rats forward.
01:23With a total of 37 rats on the fountain, it's really all about the rat.
01:30We like to put little hidden moments from Ratatouille in here, too.
01:37The manhole covers are custom-made, and there is Remy, boarding his way through the sewers of Paris.
01:45These benches are a little special because if you look very closely,
01:49you can find that we have sculpted little details from Ratatouille in there for guests to discover.
01:54Dozens of hidden Remy's help ease you into the story of Ratatouille.
02:00When we had the opportunity to design the marquee,
02:05I just immediately went to the designer of the film and said,
02:08Can you design this for us?
02:10A sculptor at Pixar translated the design into a clay maquette.
02:14Once the model was completed, Imagineers fabricated the life-size final piece.
02:19Actually covered with a real gold leaf that will look gorgeous forever.
02:24So, how do we take you into the story of Remy's Ratatouille adventure?
02:30Magically, as guests are in this queue,
02:34Gusteau will come to life, just as he does in the movie.
02:41We're going to make a big scale jump because we need to go from human world into the rat world.
02:46The window across the way is gigantic.
02:50The gutters are huge.
02:53Everything here now has grown in scale so that you can be the size of Remy as you go off on your adventure.
03:00The massive ham weighs 2.7 tons and the fish is 26 feet long.
03:06It was important for us to really make you believe that you're riding with a character.
03:10They don't just go off as a trope.
03:12They can spin, they can stop, they can tilt, they can shake.
03:15All of that is designed to make you really feel like you are going on this adventure with Remy.
03:24I'm so proud of what the teams have created in this transformation of Epcot.
03:28We designed these things for years.
03:30To actually see it and to be surrounded by it, it's so gratifying.
