00:00Hi kids, today we will learn multiplication with single digit number, with pairing.
00:10So let's get started.
00:13Kids, we now know multiplication is used for all the problems where repeated addition is
00:22required.
00:24So we know when to use multiplication.
00:29Now let's practice multiplication.
00:33We have to multiply 56 with 5.
00:39First of all, write it like this.
00:42Now what is 6 multiplied by 5?
00:48Or 5 multiplied by 6?
00:52It is 30.
00:54So like we do in addition and subtraction sums, write the ones place digit at ones place
01:03in the product, and carry over the tens place digit to next place, that is the tens place.
01:13Now multiply 5 with the next number, that is 5.
01:205 multiplied by 5 equals 25.
01:27And we have 3 carry, so add it to 25.
01:3325 plus 3 equals 28.
01:38So write 28 in the answer or product.
01:43We did it.
01:47280 is our answer, or it's the product of 56 and 5.
01:56Now let's take another example.
02:00Let's multiply 63 with 8.
02:05First write it like this, 8 multiplied with 3, we get 24.
02:13So what we will do, we will write ones place digit in the product, and carry over the tens
02:22place digit to the next place, that is writing 4 in the answer, and carry over 2 to the next
02:32place.
02:34Now multiply 8 with 6.
02:39Multiplying 8 with 6, we get 48, and we have 2 carry.
02:46So add it to 48.
02:4948 plus 2 equals 50.
02:55So write 50 in the answer or the product.
03:00So 504 is the answer, or it is the product of 63 and 8.
03:10Now let's take another example.
03:14We have to multiply 73 with 4.
03:19First write it like this.
03:22First of all, multiply 4 with 3.
03:264 multiplied by 3, we get 12.
03:31So write the ones place digit at ones place in the product, and carry over the tens place
03:38digit to the next place, that is tens place.
03:44Now multiply 4 with the next number, that is 7.
03:504 multiplied by 7 equals 28, and we have 1 carry.
03:59So adding it to 28, we get 29.
04:04Now write 29 in the product.
04:08292 is the answer, or is the product of 73 and 4.
04:18Now let's take another example.
04:20There are 15 red pencils and 7 blue pencils in one box.
04:27Then how many pencils would be there in total in 5 such boxes?
04:33First, we need to find out total number of pencils in one box.
04:40In one box, we have 15 plus 7 equals 22 pencils.
04:48Now we have to find how many pencils would be there in 5 such boxes.
04:56That is, we need to add 22 5 times, or we will multiply 22 with 5 for that.
05:08Adding it like this.
05:11First of all, multiply 5 with 2.
05:155 multiplied with 2, we get 10.
05:22Write the ones place digit at ones place in the product, and carry over the tens place
05:28digit, that is 1, to the next place, that is tens place.
05:36Now multiply 5 with the next number, that is also 2.
05:425 multiplied by 2 equals 10, and we have 1 carry.
05:51So add it to 10, and we get 11.
05:56Now write 11 in the product, and 110 is our answer.
06:034, 110 is the product of 22 and 5.
06:10So 110 pencils would be there in 5 boxes.
06:16So kids, today we learned how to multiply a single digit or double digit number with
06:25a single digit number with carrying.
06:29So remember, if we change the order of numbers in multiplication, the product is not changed.
06:38That is, 5 multiplied by 6 equals 6 multiplied by 5 equals 30.
06:4821 multiplied by 8 equals 8 multiplied by 21.
06:57The order of multiplication does not matter in multiplication.
07:02And multiplying with 1 gives the same number.
07:06And multiplication with 0 gives 0.
07:10Now you may go ahead and take a quiz to learn more.
07:14Bye bye.
