00:04today of the Dragon Ball Complete Box Set, or Dragon Ball Manga Complete Box Set.
00:11So yeah, 40th anniversary of the original Dragon Ball Manga, unfortunately Kuratoriyama
00:18died about a month or two ago, so yeah.
00:24So yeah, so this was less than $100 on Amazon, finally, so I decided to just get it.
00:30Also planning on getting the rest of it, which is the portion that was adapted into Dragon
00:34Ball Z, and unfortunately Viz keeps going with the Dragon Ball Z moniker for it rather
00:40than just having it all be under the Dragon Ball banner, which is stupid.
00:46Granted also Viz needs to revamp their translation to be more accurate to the original, but whatever.
00:57As you guys know I've been getting the Dragon Ball Super manga volumes as they've been coming
01:01out as well as I have the issues, or the volumes of the full color manga that Viz released
01:13about 10 years ago, or the Saiyan and Frieza sangas, or arcs, and then they stopped releasing
01:26those for some reason.
01:28Then when someone called them out for it on Twitter, they said that they're still going
01:32to release more of them, and here we are almost 10 years later.
01:36So yeah, I think we're like 8 years after that, so yeah, where are they, Viz?
01:41Anyways.
01:42So yeah, so just like the One Piece manga box set, I need to get box set 4 for those.
01:50We got this nice cardboard chipboard box on the front with artwork of Goku and Krillin
01:58right there, Shenron in the background, the Dragon Ball logo, complete box set, and everything.
02:05So yeah.
02:07I need to move these because they're going to give me a fucking headache with the fact
02:14that I don't want them falling over and messing up the take again, because they did that for
02:23me in Otter Ranger Dino Mine, or Dino Brace.
02:27Anyways, um, yeah, so, yeah, so, um, show the top, you got Dragon Ball, complete box
02:39set, Master Roshi right there on the, whatever that is, so, yeah.
02:46And then, on the bottom you got the rest of Shenron, Viz Media, Shonen Jump, Rated T for
02:53Teen.
02:54This is the Shonen Jump logo, so I guess they re-released this.
02:57So yeah.
02:58Um, the newest Shonen Jump logo.
03:02Then the side, Dragon Ball logo, Goku and Bulma right there.
03:07So yeah.
03:08I also got a, um, I guess this is actually probably a good time to do a video on it.
03:14I got it, I'm pretty sure, I can't remember if I got this for Christmas or if I just bought
03:21it.
03:23Dragon Ball Visual History, which I'll go over that in a second.
03:27Then on this side you have Goku, Shenron right there, Dragon Ball, and everything.
03:32So, yeah.
03:34And why I say Viz Media needs to revamp their translation.
03:38Some of the translations are off, like they toned down some of the jokes that I believe
03:44have to do with Master Roshi and other things.
03:48Then they added a thing called, uh, they added a joke saying what, or, what will happen,
03:55um, or then what, what will happen in Dragon Ball Z, or to Dragon Ball Z or something like
04:02that.
04:03In the narration it's just like, why do that?
04:06They also really badly did, or translated the titles of the chapters at some points.
04:16Also, they started translating the Saiyan Saga first, where they really did Piccolo dirty
04:25with his speech, and they made it very, I believe they made it very, um, very simplistic
04:31because his speech in Japanese is, I think written like what, older Japanese or something
04:36like that.
04:37But then they started translating, it was sometime after that they started translating
04:41his speech normally, and then when they went back through the original Dragon Ball arcs,
04:48or the earlier arcs, and then got to Demon King Piccolo, as well as the, I think, what,
04:5423rd Tenkaichi Budokai, they, um, they translated his speech as normal.
04:59So, you have an inconsistency there.
05:02Just really wish they would re-translate everything.
05:05They could even just release that translation with the full color manga, but anyways.
05:12Yeah.
05:16So, open this up.
05:21Got all the volumes with this nice Toriyama artwork on the spines right here.
05:28So, yeah.
05:35So we got Volume 1, which is nice.

05:45And I was not going to show the spines after I pick them up because I literally just showed you guys them.
05:53These are really nice.
05:55I've never actually read the original, or much of the original Dragon Ball manga.
06:02So, yeah.
06:06Some people have gotten on me for, like, flipping through.
06:11Whenever I've done manga unboxings and they're like, uh, you're flipping through them the wrong way, I don't care.
06:19They're very nice in regards to the artwork.
06:23I really do like Akira Toriyama's art style.
06:29Like, it's simplistic, but it's also very good with its simplicity.

06:48It's also just like, in regards to flipping through the manga, I'm just showing you guys that the pages have all the stuff on them.

08:49I like how Bulma looks in that artwork. She looks nice. It's a nice outfit.

09:42I also do plan to do, like, reviews and stuff, because I plan to also rewatch the Dragon Ball anime and everything, because I haven't watched it in a while.

10:03Right, and then, right, for the Viz release, probably other places in the world, too, Mr. Popo's lips are removed.
10:15I forgot about that, because, uh, people associate his look with, uh, blackface.
10:24Even though he's not meant to be a racist caricature, he's a genie-type character, and thus he's designed after them.
10:33And... yeah. And it's just unfortunate implications across cultural boundaries, um, in regards to his design.
10:48On top of that, the anime, whenever they've released Dragon Ball Z, and Super, and whatever other media the characters have appeared in, like the video games and stuff, um, he's left- he's been left alone.
11:06So, although the, uh, the Toonzai version, I believe, of Dragon Ball Z Kai did recolor him blue.
11:12So, yeah. Which makes sense, why they did- why they recolored him blue, they saw that he looked like a genie, and he was designed after genies, so...
11:23Makes sense to color him blue like the genie in Latin.
11:30This is the 23rd World Tournament.
11:37And we have the last volume of this stuff.
11:41Okay.
11:49Okay. And, uh, I don't- I don't think the One Piece manga box has any of these, but like, nice little poster right there of Akira Toriyama's artwork.
12:03And it's reversible, which is nice, has this nice border as well.
12:09Ink color, that's also nice.
12:12Oh, his hair is blue there. Her canonical hair color in the manga is purple, by the way.
12:20And we have a Know It All thing.

12:30So this is just, I guess, some facts, and then ask Toriyama.
12:37I guess that's just Q&As that happened over the course- probably the most important questions and answers happened over the course of this stuff.

12:55Alright, and that's cool. On the inside of the box, you got a little Goku and his boxers right there.

13:25I'll probably get the- I'll definitely get the Z manga over the- over the summer.
13:38Especially since I'm waiting- I'm partially waiting to see if it'll go down in price a bit.
13:45Because I believe they re-released both of these at some point, and then I think even more recently it was announced that they would increase the prices of some of their manga box sets.
14:02But Amazon still will give discounts every so often for these things.
14:08So, yeah. It's actually really nice.
14:14So, yeah.
14:16And then, didn't intend for this, but Dragon Ball Visual History by Akira Toriyama.
14:27This is basically a collection of a bunch of different Dragon Ball Z artworks, and it's also published by Viz Media and Shonen Jump.
14:36So, yeah.
14:40I think I actually did get this for Christmas.
14:42So, yeah.
14:44So, it's basically- it's a very huge book.
14:53And again, collects some miscellaneous artwork from the Dragon Ball manga that were not included in this translation.
15:06I believe including, like, panel colors for the panels that were colored in the Japanese version.
15:18There are a bunch of different versions as well of the Dragon Ball manga that Viz has released of varying quality.
15:25I would say the version I have that I just showed off is the most consistent release.
15:36If you want the color versions of the pages with the English translation, the VizBigs are what you want.
15:44They are, I believe, like 3-in-1 volume collections, as well as are on bigger paper.
15:55And everything like Viz sometimes is wanted to do.
16:01I may have been skipping pages by accident.
16:04These actually look really, really cool.

16:36There's about as many releases of those as there has been the Dragon Ball Z anime in North America.
16:45Just for very little to no reason.
16:52Because Viz, I believe, initially released them in the English editions of the Shonen Jump magazine.
17:00And then they, um...
17:04They released the individual volumes, then they did the VizBigs, and then 3-in-1s, or 3-volumes-in-1s.
17:15And then they did this collection, and the collection that has the stuff that was in the arcs of Z.
17:26And...
17:27Yeah.
17:30This is honestly just a really extensive collection of Akira Toriyama's artworks from the manga, colored in and everything.
