00:07On Monday, July 29, he was supposed to visit Binyan Elementary School in Laguna,
00:12but classes were suspended after rain brought more floods early Monday.
00:16In Santa Mesa, Manila, El Pedio Quirino High School was able to welcome back students,
00:20but some textbooks and other materials had to be dried following the flooding.
00:24Still, Angara says the school opening was so far so good.
00:28The Education Department postponed the opening of the academic year 2024-2025
00:33in at least 979 schools due to severe flooding last week.
00:38Angara earlier thumbed down proposals for a blanket suspension
00:41that would cover all 45,000 public schools in the country.
00:45Latest DepEd data shows over 20.5 million students have enrolled so far.
00:50Students can still enroll until September.
