Armagh’s Tiernan Kelly spoke to the Newry Reporter on Monday evening as the team brought the Sam Maguire Cup back to their home stadium, The Box-It Athletic Grounds.

00:00It's been surreal, it's been very manic since the final whistle went, even before the game,
00:09just getting the whole county and stuff, we're buzzing, and to get the win, it's been unreal,
00:13and last night we had a good night at the Carrickdale, and some boys didn't get their
00:17bed the early hours of the morning, let's put it that way, and then just third of the
00:20day, spending the day with the boys and the crowd at the Carrickdale, and then coming
00:23here out there, it's manic, and just to see all the support of the people who have showed
00:27out, it's unreal.
00:28That's something you'll remember for the rest of your life, being up on stage, looking out.
00:31Yeah.
00:32It was a good day or so, wasn't it?
00:33It was at least three quarters of it anyway, so it's, oh, Geezer always said that, you
00:37know, in the AM days, back in 02, it was never the medals or the trophy or anything he remembers,
00:43he always remembers the pictures in his head of the crowd and stuff, like, and you can
00:47understand what he means now when you're looking down there, just seeing the orange and white
00:50on everybody's face, and everybody just in such good mood, and just having a good day.
00:56You've touched on it already, but the final question goes, what are your emotions, what's
01:00going through your head?
01:02It's kind of hard to put into words, you're kind of just, you're screaming and you're
01:07running about trying to grab on the boys, and then it takes you a wee bit to realise
01:11what's actually happened, and then you're focused on, you know what I mean, the celebrations
01:16and running about in front of the hill, and then trying to find family members in the
01:19crowd, and then we all got into the changing room together as a team, like it was good
01:24craic, and the boys were in really good form, and then we sat down as a group in the changing
01:28room in the warm-up area, and we just kind of just talked a wee bit, and it was a great
01:32experience, and it was great to be involved in.
01:35You've been right there now, you've had heartbreaks at the finish, you've had defeats, you've
01:39had tough times, gays have had deficits, and does this make it all worthwhile?
01:44Yeah, no, it just goes to show you that when things aren't going your way, and things look
01:50like they're going against you, and just constantly sticking to the process, and just trying to
01:54chase your goals, and chase your dreams, and see what happens, and just keep plugging away
01:59every single day, every day of the week, every week of the year, that's what these are, and
02:02all the boys do, and kind of focus on that there, and all we needed was a wee bit of
02:06luck and a break here and there, we knew we weren't far away, and it just goes to show
02:10once we beat Ross Hamill, we came together, that wee bit of momentum, and you've seen
02:13it against Kerry there, and obviously yesterday again as well, it just looked as though that
02:18as the game was going on, we were gaining momentum, and it just looked as though we
02:21were everywhere on the beach, even though we were trying our bloody best to lose at
02:24the end, you just kind of always had it in your head that things were starting to align
02:28with you, and we got that wee bit of luck that we needed.
