00:00PhilHealth is recommending to President Bongbong Marcos to lower the member contribution.
00:06PhilHealth said that the amount of the fund is enough
00:10despite the question of the Senators in its plan to repeat the almost 90 billion Pesos subsidy of the government.
00:18We have a report from Bob Gonzales.
00:23PhilHealth's monthly premium is 5%.
00:26For example, if a direct contributor earns 10,000 Pesos per month,
00:30his monthly contribution is 500 Pesos.
00:33PhilHealth said that they will recommend to President Marcos to lower the contribution of the members.
00:39PhilHealth said during the Senate Committee on Health hearing that they still have 500 billion Pesos fund.
00:44Before this, the Senators asked PhilHealth to pay almost 90 billion Pesos
00:49that was not used as a subsidy from the government.
00:52Why should we return the 90 billion?
00:54Why are the benefit packages of PhilHealth still not enough and there are still out-of-pocket patients?
01:00Before you raise money, think about what can be used for that money.
01:06PhilHealth explained that it is legal to raise funds from the national government.
01:10It was also not taken from the contribution of the members.
01:12It doesn't mean that because the 90 billion is gone, PhilHealth will lose money.
01:18Why don't you use your funds for the poor, for the out-of-pocket patients
01:23so that the Department of Finance will not take your money?
01:29We are very, very aggressively enhancing all of our benefit packages.
01:34In fact, we did an initial 30% across the board last February 14
01:39and we are already in the process of doing another round of 30%.
01:46According to Finance Secretary Ralph Recto,
01:49the Governance Commission for GOCCs and the Office of the Government Corporate Council or OGCC
01:55agreed that it is legal and does not include the prohibition of moving funds under the Universal Health Care Act.
02:00PhilHealth members will also receive benefits.
02:05To fund the unprogrammed appropriations,
02:08Congress determined that there is another way aside from new taxes as well as debts.
02:16And this is through the collection of the sleeping and unused money of the GOCCs
02:26that we are still paying interest.
02:29But some doctors are still talking about not reducing the funds for health care.
02:34We are the ones who are being approached, we are the ones who are next to them in their treatment.
02:43Excuse me.
02:45PhilHealth's assistance is not enough.
02:49Let's not call it savings because this is our debt to them.
02:56This should not be taken lightly.
