Tesla Analyst Tests FSD Feature on Model Y and Nearly Crashes in 'Otherwise Certain Accident'

Tesla analyst William Stein tested Tesla's Full Self-Driving feature in a Model Y. He narrowly avoided a crash when the car accelerated through an intersection as another car turned right. Stein said his quick intervention was required to avoid an "otherwise certain accident." In Tesla's last two earnings calls, CEO Elon Musk claimed that investors won’t understand the company unless they’re using the Full Self-Driving mode, prompting Stein to test it. Another intervention was needed when a police officer directed Stein to pull over for a funeral procession and FSD did not do so automatically. FSD switched lanes twice in an area with a solid white line prohibiting lane changes. Stein maintained his hold rating on Tesla stock after the experience.
