00:00A Colorful Scene I am sure that every item of the tabernacle
00:05has a message to tell.
00:08Sometimes the symbols are explained, sometimes we apply our best thought and imagination
00:13to fathom their meaning.
00:15The essential thing is to understand symbols only illustrate and clarify truths plainly
00:20stated elsewhere in the Bible.
00:23So what about the colors used in the tabernacle?
00:26They run right through our verses today, don't they?
00:29Yes, but not haphazardly.
00:32The curtains covering the whole tabernacle are blue, purple and scarlet, plus the white
00:37of fine linen, which are the colors used to express the identity of the whole dwelling.
00:43The same colors mark the way in the door of the court, the entrance of the tent, and the
00:47curtain into the holy of holies and finally the distinctively priestly garment.
00:52The ephod and its associated woven band.
00:56Each of these items is a whole study in itself, but standing back from the whole, we can follow
01:01the clue given in Hebrews 10 verse 20, the veil, that is, his flesh.
01:07As one chorus puts it well, the Lord Jesus Christ is the way back to God from the dark
01:12paths of sin and a door that is open and you may go in.
01:16Through him we come into his courts.
01:19Just as priests enter the tabernacle, we, through the rent veil of Jesus' flesh and
01:24by his priestly work, are welcome into the holiest place itself.
01:29At the instant, split second of his death, the veil was torn from top to bottom.
01:34All this the tabernacle expresses in the symbolism of its colors.
01:39The door of the court, the entrance of the tent and the tent itself are overshadowed
01:43in blue, purple, scarlet and white linen, together with the lovely veil of the holy
01:48of holies.
01:50Now torn in two through Jesus' sacrificial death, who is the great high priest himself
01:55who obtained eternal redemption for us.
01:59He alone, in the unity of one perfect person, is the blue of heavenly origin, the purple
02:04of royal lineage and dignity, the scarlet of the atoning sacrifice for sin, and the
02:10white linen of unstained purity and moral majesty.
02:14Reflection Stand in the tabernacle and look up, Jesus
02:18is over us, but also those colored curtains are all around us, we are in Christ, where
02:23we find redemption, no condemnation, inseparable love, status as a child of God, every spiritual
02:31blessing, and our life is hid with Christ in God.
