00:07Please, tell me the rings, didn't they work?

00:13They worked wonders.

00:21There is a very famous ring in Germanic and Norse mythology,

00:26a ring of invisibility, which is used, obviously, for terribly covetous purposes.

00:32And that is, I think, the prime source of Tolkien's inspiration for the rings.

00:39This notion that the ring is a miniature metaphor for the earth,

00:43it's round, it's circular, it has no beginning, no ending,

00:46encompasses everything, including power.

00:48And it seems that that was a logical extension

00:53of all of this lore that Tolkien's souls loved so deeply.

01:00Season two holds a big story.

01:03I'm looking forward to pouring some of that molten ore.

01:06Right-handed or left-handed?

01:07Right.

01:08Okay, great.

01:09The elves are ambidextrous.

01:10You can do everything.

01:12The crafting of the rings, it's such a core part of the lore.

01:16I'm hugely excited for that.

01:18The rings have been forged.

01:20Gradual's about to get her own ring.

01:25what do they mean, what do they do, what does it do to other people,

01:44We're creating the rings.

01:46The rings of power, the seven, that's given to the Twelfth Lords.

01:51It's exciting to see what effects the creation of these rings will have on us.

01:56Seven rings, unbound within each power.

02:01I also feel this instinct that something's not quite right.

02:04These rings start to work on the subconscious,

02:07ultimately for evil rather than good.

02:10I know where it's going.

02:11For those that don't, I won't ruin it, but I know where it's going.

02:15It's a very exciting, dark journey to embark on.

02:19I know you believe this ring is deceiving me,

02:22but I believe it is guiding me.
