00:00In all my days, I've never met somebody who could match my freak, and at this point I
00:05feel like it's potentially unmatchable, but you know, I have an open mind.
00:09I'm still looking.
00:10I'm still looking.
00:18The song was kind of made the way that I typically make songs.
00:21It was basically a freestyle.
00:22Well, I had my computer set up, and like the photo booth set up, and it was recording the
00:27audio of whatever was happening in the car.
00:29I was driving, and there was like a very rough draft version of the beat.
00:32Immediately I came up with,
00:33It's somebody gonna match my freak.
00:35And I've been a nasty girl, which are like some of the hookiest parts of the song, so
00:39it was amazing just to hear that like initial spark of inspiration, if you will.
00:45You know?
00:46The nasty gods were just like, what?
00:48And then it just came into my mind.
01:00Everyone's always looking for the perfect person who totally gets them, and I feel like
01:05Match My Freak embodies this like match my energy vibe.
01:10Like everyone can feel like there's someone out there who can match their energy.
01:15Or if they don't know that there's someone out there, they're looking for it.
01:18It's somebody gonna match my freak.
01:20Need somebody with a good technique.
01:23It's somebody gonna match my nasty.
01:25Pillow talking got my throat raspy.
01:27I think one of my favorite parts about the song is that it is so meme-able.
01:31Like seeing that iconic dance with the two people in the dance studio, that was such
01:38a cool way for it to pop off, and for people to hear the song, get exposed to it.
01:42There's something that like feels lighthearted.
01:44I just love that it has so many different ways that, you know.
01:48Everyone can kind of relate to it or connect to it in their own way.
02:13I think one of my favorite parts of this song is the juxtaposition in the performance from
02:18the different sections and how I play with my vocals.
02:20It's very fulfilling for the listener to hear something kind of go from this weird, wonky
02:25like minor chord, talky section to something that then feels like a major chord.
02:30It feels happy and bright and has these melodic vocals that everyone can kind of sing.
02:34And I think I love in a song being able to play with that range, having these sections
02:38that feel very sing-along and very melodic and then dropping into something that's super
02:44monotone and kind of percussive.
02:48Up in a nasty girl, nasty.
02:50Up in a nasty girl, nasty.
02:53Up in a nasty girl, nasty.
02:55Up in a nasty, nasty, nasty.
02:58Ooh, nasty is, you know, somebody who's just kind of confident and like willing to be themselves fully.
03:06I feel like that's when you're your most nastiest.
03:08People, you know, keep it under wraps sometimes.
03:10Everyone's really shy, but you know, everyone's got that nasty underneath.
03:18Party's lame, no vibe, we can leave.
03:21Shotgun, my thighs on a seat.
03:23I ain't got nothing underneath.
03:25Party's lame, no vibe, we can leave.
03:28That's like so real.
03:29I don't know.
03:30I'm like the first person that if the party is lame, I'm gonna leave.
03:32I'm not gonna hang out.
03:33I'm gonna come.
03:34If it's lame, see ya.
03:37I'm going home to my bed.
03:38I'm not saying bye to anybody.
03:39I'm just leaving.
03:40I'm dipping.
03:41Quick as...
03:42Bye!
03:48Life, wife type, he's staying for a week, so I might just let him pay the lease.
03:53You know, it's just like a nice, like cute, little wholesome moment in the song.
03:57Then it goes into, he's staying for a week, so I might just let him pay the lease.
04:01Which is, you know, it's just cheeky and fun, but yeah, I would never let a guy stay for
04:05a week, so that was definitely a fantasy.
04:12PSA, I think a lot of the times when you find somebody who matches your freak, it's super
04:17toxic, so definitely beware of the person who matches your freak.
