00:00Now the main issue for the people of the country that they would like to hear from the President when he was in the Senate three times is the price of goods, especially rice, work and salary.
00:13But it seems that these three things that the people of the country prioritized, the President said only a few.
00:21What do you think is lacking or should be added?
00:26Yes, I'm glad that he prioritized agriculture because I haven't heard of a Senate where the President prioritized that.
00:36But this is a long process because our agricultural sector has been neglected for a long time and that's why only a few are farming according to the Department of Agriculture in their data.
00:52But that's the long process.
00:55You can provide assistance but for the farmers, I think he did that before he became the President, but that's only up to that point.
01:02The immediate issue is the salary because many are saying that inflation is not under the control of the President because there are developments abroad.
01:17But we cannot not respond to the President because there are a lot of problems going to the President that are not under his control.
01:25But what can he do?
01:27I understand that it's hard to raise the salary because there are employers who are saying that they will not close or remove employees.
01:40But I think it needs to be discussed and studied.
01:45This is an urgent measure that the President needs to address.
01:49Plus, it needs to be monitored because some of the employees are the ones who give the real salary.
01:58Because our minimum wage is high compared to other countries in ASEAN.
02:07But why are there others who are anecdotal?
02:11For example, if you approach a construction worker in our area, they don't give the real salary, the real minimum wage.
02:20That's what needs to be addressed.
02:22I think many will benefit from this.
02:28I think this is the most immediate.
02:30Okay.
02:31The President did not mention, he said unemployment is down, underemployment is down, but that's in the formal economy.
02:39The Philippines is huge.
02:41In fact, 90% is in the formal economy.
02:44So he is pushing us to have low salaries, irregular jobs, and no job security.
02:52A friend of mine, a demographer, said that hunger is a better metric because you can really see the importance of that.
03:02Because a lot of people are in the informal economy.
03:07There is a wealth of people, especially those who have nothing, those who are poor.
03:11They only earn subsistence every day.
03:14Now, another issue is what they said in Taong Bayan, fighting corruption and fighting criminality is important.
03:23It seems like the President did not say much about that.
03:26Maybe corruption is close to the kitchen because of the accusations against his family.
03:34As for criminality, what he said was about the drug war.
03:42But there is a monitoring done by the UP Third World Study Center that says there are more than 700 drug-related killings.
03:52And it seems like there is a percentage here that state agents committed.
03:56So I don't know to what extent the President's statement about bloodless is true.
04:03And to what extent the Third World Study says that state agents committed is because of the President's order.
04:11Just like what happened during President Duterte's time.
04:15So what I'm waiting for is how he will support the public health approach in addressing the illegal drug problem in the country and of course the supply.
04:27Okay.
04:27And the President was a bit quiet when it was reported that he wants to talk to the rebels about resuming the peace talks.
04:38And it seems like Bang Samoro was also able to tell a story even though this was the first parliamentary election.
04:46Yes, that's true.
04:47He did not talk much about it and mention it considering how big of a trust rating he was giving to Mindanao during the last survey.
05:01In fact, he can showcase Bang Samoro because it's a good experiment in providing autonomy to an area in the country that is conflict-ridden.
05:15So I don't know why he didn't mention it.
