00:00Most farmers around the country these days would have a side-by-side at least on their property, it's pretty rare not to have one.
00:07The reason why they usually get a side-by-side is to replace their ute out in the paddocks.
00:11It means that their big hundred plus thousand dollar Land Cruiser utes don't need to get beaten up across the paddocks and across the rough ground
00:20bringing stock in, going through scrub. You can take one of these machines which are worth less than a third of that
00:26and they're a lot easier to maintain. These don't have to be serviced as often and servicing is a lot cheaper on a full-size
00:32ute or something like that.
00:34And one of the really cool things about the 6x6, like a machine like this one here, is the tray is twice as long as a normal
00:41side-to-utility side-by-side, which means you can carry double the volume of gear. It's a tipper tray
00:47which is pretty standard for a utility side-by-side.
00:50But you can imagine the volume of gear that you can carry on the back of that, whether it's round bales of hay
00:55whether it's stock feed, whether it's a sprayer.
00:58Another thing that farmers love about this particular machine is that they've got a big 400 litre sprayer on the pallet.
01:03Normally they have to put that onto the back of their side-by-side or a trailer to go and spray.
01:08Whereas then when they're finished they've got to take it off again to be able to use the machine.
01:12Whereas with this machine you can basically
01:15plop it on the front half of the tray and use it and then when it's empty, they're quite light,
01:19you just leave it on there and you've still got the equivalent of a full-size tray on there.
01:23So you can still do your normal work. You don't have to take that sprayer off all the time.
01:26So the 6x6 with the 6 foot long tray,
01:30absolutely perfect machine for this sort of country, especially when it starts getting wet.
01:34So here we've got a bunch of the Can-Am off-road vehicles here at the moment.
01:37We haven't got the whole range, but we've got a fairly significant portion of it.
01:41The one behind us, which we've just had a bit of a drive in as you can tell from the mud, is the Can-Am Defender HD10
01:476x6.
01:49So the unique thing about this machine is it's got the six-wheel drive.
01:53So the back four wheels are always driving. So on a wet slippery day in the clay, what we've got here in the Riverland,
01:59you really don't get stuck in this machine. So it's absolutely ideal
02:03for this sort of scenario, but it's also got a six foot long tray in the back.
02:06So you can carry twice as much volume of gear as you can in a normal utility side-by-side.
02:11But we're driving that one because it's got a windscreen and it's cold.
02:15Next machine we've got here is a
02:18this is a Can-Am
02:20Commander 1000 DPS. We don't have this one available in Australia anymore, but we've got the 700 DPS available
02:26and we've got a 1000 XT, which is a little bit more tricked up.
02:29But this is a fantastic utility
02:32recreational
02:33machine, a bit of a hybrid between the two.
02:36Underneath it's actually the same as a Defender. They're very very similar, but it's a bit more comfy. It's a two-seater.
02:42So if you're changing direction a lot, like if you're mustering or something like that,
02:45Commander is absolutely the pick of the bunch.
02:48It's still got a utility tip of tray, but not quite as big as a Defender's got.
02:52But if you really want something to carry a lot of gear and you're jumping in and out all the time,
02:56Defender is probably the pick, which is the next one here. It's a HD9XU. It's also a 1000cc machine.
03:02It's a little bit detuned from the HD10s, but it's basically the same engine platform.
03:08So that's the top-selling utility side-by-side of the market. That's an absolute ripper that one and that's our biggest seller.
03:15Thanks for watching!
