Barcelona breaks heat record at 40C (104F)

Catalonia's regional weather agency Meteocat announces on its X account on July 31, 2024 that the region's capital Barcelona had broken its maximum temperature record on July 30, hitting 40C (104F) just before 4 p.m. as Spain entered its third heatwave of the summer. Meteocat said it was the highest temperature registered in 110 years of uninterrupted gathering of data and 0.2C (0.36F) higher than the previous record of 39.8 reached on July 6, 1982.
