Chris Evans Teases Whether Dog Dodger Will Ever Join Him on Red Carpet: ‘He Would Probably Love It’

00:00We were filming a movie in Savannah and one of the scenes was at a shelter and I wasn't

00:06intending, there was no plan to get a dog that day and I was just walking up and down the rows of

00:12dogs and saw Dodger and just, it just clicked and I just said, okay, well I guess you're coming home

00:17with me. He was just such a beautiful dog and so sweet and so happy and every other dog

00:24understandably was jumping up on their cage and desperate to see people, desperate to get out,

00:29really heartbreaking. Dodger was trying very hard to sit but his whole body's wiggling and his tail's

00:37going but he was trying to stay seated. There was something really sweet about that. I started

00:43filming right away. It's one of those moments where you just know, you just know this is the

00:48beginning of something really meaningful and important. I should document it and I think I

00:53posted it years ago, just seeing him for the very first time and he hasn't changed from the second

01:00I saw him. He's still a puppy at heart. He's still got a lot of love, a lot of energy. He's a special

01:05dog. Oh god, what a good question. To stay present, you know, I think all of our brains are noisy

01:12places. All of our minds analyze the past and worry about the future and all Dodger thinks about is

01:18right now and what a beautiful way to exist and, you know, when I'm having a particularly noisy day

01:24in my own head, spending time with him washes all that away. So, he's an unintentional teacher which

01:32is usually the best thing. Oh yeah, Dodger's been on many movie sets. That might be one of his favorite

01:37places just because every single person is saying, Dodger! You know, he's a little social butterfly so

01:44anywhere he gets to go say hello to 100 people in a row is a good day for him.

01:48Yeah, he's been to a lot of sets. I don't know how he would do on a carpet. He'd probably love it.

01:53That was one of the nice things about partnering with Jinx. I got to work with Dodger. You know,

01:57I was bringing him on photo shoots and he was incredible. I wasn't sure how it would go just

02:04because, again, he has so much energy and maybe he's a little easily distracted but when that camera

02:09came out, he dialed in and, I mean, I've been on set with movie dogs and I think Dodger might

02:16have been better. Yeah, sure. I mean, I'm always looking for partnerships like this outside of the

02:22film industry and, you know, it has to make sense for me personally. Not just something that

02:28I would use but the people behind the company, the impact, the mission statement, things like that and

02:34this just checks all those boxes. Like you said, I think,

02:37which dogs shouldn't be the only one that have good nutrition and, yeah, it just made sense.

02:43It was so great. I love that role. I have a lot of love in my heart for Johnny Storm and

02:49so getting that call from Ryan, I mean, I would do anything for Ryan but getting to

02:55yell flame on again was just, it was special. I really loved every second of it. Oh man,

03:01I don't know. I think, you know, those were, you know, wonderful, wonderful times and it's

03:08probably the dearest role to my heart but, you know, it might be better just to let those times

03:15be those times. It was. He's a bit of a rascal. He's on the naughty list, level four naughty

03:23lister, so he's a real bad boy but I had such a good time making that movie and, you know,

03:31it's intimidating because I love Christmas. I love Christmas movies and you want every movie

03:36you make to be good but making a bad Christmas movie would really be a bummer but thank goodness,

03:44it's incredible. I saw it recently. It's so fun. Jake Kasdan knocked it out of the park,

03:50you know. When I first read it, I remember thinking, man, this really feels Spielbergian,

03:57you know. There's something really grand and special and magical about this. I hope they

04:02can capture it and Jake just, Jake nailed it. It's everything I wanted it to be and more.
