00:00Good morning, this is Consul General Paul Raymond P. Cortez of the Philippine Consulate
00:05General in Dubai and here we are at the Al Aweir Immigration Center for day one of the
00:10UAE's amnesty program.
00:12At the onset, there has been a little bit of confusion as to how the procedure really
00:17goes because they have been, most of those who are availing of the amnesty have been
00:22asked to provide and show tickets that they are indeed going home since the Philippines
00:29has already announced that the Philippine government will be the one taking care and
00:34shouldering the cost of tickets.
00:38For those who wish to avail of the amnesty program and those going home, we'd like to
00:44advise all our fellow Filipinos to please go to the Philippine Consulate General first
00:50so that we can get their names and we can give you your travel documentation and book
00:56a ticket for you which then you will show to the immigration officers here at Al Aweir.
01:04The Philippine government will also shoulder the cost of the exit fees of $221 and if you
01:15have an absconding case, the Philippine government will also take care of the fees relative to
01:23the removal of the absconding case which is $521.
01:29And as soon as you are able to finalize all that, the immigration authorities will give
01:35you what they call an exit permit fee and thus far we have quite a couple of our fellow
01:42Filipinos who have been given these exit fees.
01:46The immigration also advises that the tickets are to be booked or the flights of our repatries
01:58be scheduled 10 days after, at least 10 days after the issuance of an exit permit.
02:05So if the exit permit was issued on August 1st, it would be safe to book them for an
02:10August 11 or 12 or beyond ticket and they give you at least one month to exit the country.
