00:00Now it's the sit-down with Liz Gillies.
00:02Hi, Liz!
00:03Your new movie spread is streaming on 2B now.
00:06Your character, Ruby, is an aspiring journalist
00:08who's broke, so she has to start temping
00:10at an outdated adult magazine company.
00:13It's hysterical, but also quite sweet.
00:15What appealed to you most about this project?
00:17I found the characters to be so endearing
00:20and also so lost in their own way,
00:23yet sort of unabashedly original.
00:25And that's why, although she doesn't see it at first,
00:27Ruby fits in so well with these weirdos,
00:30as they're described in the film.
00:32And I think it's so interesting
00:34how she finds herself in this place
00:36she never expected to be doing something
00:39she hoped she'd never be doing.
00:40And she ends up not only thriving there,
00:43but making lifelong friends
00:44and discovering who she really is.
00:46And it just kind of shows us
00:48sometimes the places we end up
00:49are not the places we necessarily want to be
00:53or would have chosen for ourselves,
00:54but where we need to be.
00:55It's almost a coming of age,
00:56but I guess I'm too old to be coming of age now,
00:59so I can't even play coming of age characters,
01:02but you know what I mean.
01:04In real life, what's a job you want to temp at?
01:06Whether it's a hobby you have
01:07or you think you'd be good at it,
01:09or just curious.
01:10I actually tried to get a job
01:12after my Broadway show closed at Cold Stone Creamery
01:15and did not get the gig.
01:16I thought because I sang
01:17and they have to sing the happy birthday song,
01:18it was like a shoo-in,
01:20but no, they had no interest in me.
01:21Oh my God!
01:22It's hard to believe it's been almost two years
01:25since the Dynasty finale.
01:26You played such a strong, dramatic character
01:29who had quite a mouth on her.
01:31What was the last thing
01:32that made you want to bring out your inner Fallon?
01:34Unfortunately, she's stuck with me forever now,
01:36so it happens more often than I'd like to admit.
01:39Whenever I'm really pressed in a way by somebody,
01:42like to give you an example,
01:43if it's like a contractor,
01:45I'm going to buy a piece of furniture or something,
01:48anything that's negotiable
01:49or I feel I'm taken advantage of in any possible way,
01:51it could be anywhere.
01:52It could be someone cutting me in line.
01:53It doesn't even matter.
01:54I immediately turn into her
01:56and I sort of just not tear them apart.
01:58I just sort of take charge.
01:59And I try not to use any of her old lines.
02:01I try not to throw them around.
02:02They're a little too mean.
02:03Bite me, Crystal.
02:05Oh, please.
02:06Call me mom.
02:07You also have a wedding anniversary coming up.
02:09So to celebrate,
02:10are you and hubby more low-key nighting kind of people
02:13or is your style go big or go home?
02:15We're so low-key.
02:16We're the opposite of,
02:18I don't even think we actually had a proper honeymoon
02:20now that I think about it,
02:20just because I was working
02:21and we got married during the pandemic
02:22and it just never timed out.
02:25We're very low-key.
02:26We like to get each other very funny gifts.
02:28I mean, one year,
02:29my husband adopted a cockroach for me,
02:31which I loved so much.
02:33We might go away this year,
02:34but it's usually a staycation situation.
02:36It's nothing too, you know,
02:37we just want to chill and we're obsessed with our dogs.
02:39We'd rather hang out with our dogs any day of the week.
02:42Okay, real quick.
02:43You know we got to talk about you and your bestie,
02:45Ariana Grande.
02:46How excited are you for Wicked?
02:48I cannot even describe to you how excited I am for Wicked.
02:51Like anybody, I mean, our age, younger, older, everybody,
02:56that musical was everything to me when I was younger.
02:58And Ari and I used to sing the songs
03:00and she has been so obsessed with it.
03:02That has been her musical and her obsession
03:04since I met her when she was 13, 14.
03:06And I'm just like, I can't even talk about it.
03:07I get chills and I just, I'm so excited.
03:10I know it's going to be incredible.
03:11It is everything.
03:12I think I'm going to watch it like standing up in the theater
03:14like when you're a child watching a Disney movie
03:16and you're just sort of like lip syncing.
03:18Like, I think that's what I'm going to be
03:21when I watch the movie,
03:22which will be embarrassing, but I don't care.
03:24When did you start planning
03:25your famous Halloween costumes?
03:27An idea might have just been born in the last week,
03:31but I cannot say a word past that.
03:33And maybe it'll change,
03:34but there's an idea floating around for sure.
03:37Okay, we're going to put 10 seconds on the clock,
03:39promote any one of your projects.
03:41Ready? Go.
03:42Please go watch Spread.
03:43It's on Tubi.
03:44It's so easy to watch.
03:45It's so free.
03:47It's the funniest movie.
03:48It's the sweetest movie.
03:49It'll make you laugh.
03:50Harvey Keitel is in it.
03:51It's the best.
03:52Go watch it.
03:53Everyone's loving it.
03:53Join the club.
03:54Be cool.
03:55Don't be a loser.
03:56Liz, thank you so much for being here today.
