00:00So we're here at the White Swan in Bewdley on a lovely summer's afternoon and this is your baby now, this pub?
00:06It is, it is, it is, yeah.
00:08What's your name, sir?
00:09So my name is Sam, I'm the new proprietor, well the proprietor's manager of the White Swan in Bewdley.
00:14Lovely refurbished place it is.
00:16It looks gorgeous, doesn't it?
00:18Yeah, they've done an absolutely stellar job here and they did it in such a short time frame as well.
00:22It's valiant to the owners, they sort of bought it and brought it back up to where it should be as well.
00:27So describe the look of the pub, the ethos of the pub, what's on your menu and stuff to people who are new to it.
00:34So we have a very small offering on the lunchtime menu but we're dog friendly so it's a place where you can come in,
00:41your dog can have a bit of a treat as well and you can have a bit of food as well.
00:45The three words I'd describe the place would be chilled, inclusive and safe, those are my main ones.
00:51Safe is my main one as well because I want everyone to feel safe and invited, my baby as it were.
00:59And you'll have to trade all week and weekends?
01:03Yeah, absolutely, so we're opening hours slightly later on the weekends but only until about 12 o'clock
01:10and then we're open all week and food's served every day 12 to 5 as well, thus far anyway.
01:16And there's some lovely old archived pictures of beauty that have been sourced to decorate inside isn't there?
01:21Absolutely yeah, the refurbishment team, they have a general overview and blueprint of how these pubs go
01:29but they always like to make it tailored to where the location is and they felt as a team it was very important to do so as well
01:36to make people feel at home as well.
01:38So you had a gentle opening last night, what were the punters saying?
01:42We had a lot of friends and family here, a lot of them were overwhelmed with how good of a job they did on the refurb
01:52and they definitely said they'd be back which is always a good sign.
01:55So do you think you're bringing something new to the town then, a bit of an upper market pub?
02:01Yeah, I'd say we are really, it's a bit more premium, like I say it's more of a chilled environment,
02:06it's premium but still in touch with everyone who's around the town.
02:11We want to work locally with people as well so I've introduced myself to the local businesses
02:16and likewise they came in for a drink last night so it was very nice to see.
02:19And Beauty's ethos is quite community driven anyway so it's nice to be just another little piece in the jigsaw of that as well.
02:25And you're not a stranger to the town, you used to row didn't you?
02:28Well no, I still row now.
02:29You still row?
02:30No, not this week, I recently joined a Beauty rowing club about two years ago
02:34so they're a firm place in my heart there as well and half the guys here on the soft launch were Beauty rowing members anyway.
02:41They like to drink, they like to drink.
02:43So yeah, I still row but obviously this is my little baby at the moment
02:47but I hope I'll be able to get back on the water soon enough anyway once we're up and running and on our feet.
02:52Well we wish you all the success here with this gorgeous new addition to Beauty.
02:56Thank you very much, thank you.
02:57Please feel free, anyone and everyone, we welcome everyone here.
03:02Great stuff, all the best buddy.
03:03Thank you.
