00:00Absolutely spectacular day as I've been saying since I got here today and I just want to
00:04make this my office every single day and use some of the money that I'm announcing today to
00:10improve facilities for recreational fishers. New South Wales Government is really supportive
00:17of recreational fishing in New South Wales and I know it's a huge pastime in this part of the state
00:23so we want to make sure that we are getting resources and particularly funds directly to
00:29grassroots recreational fishers and so today I'm announcing a two million dollar fund that will be
00:36two million dollars each year for local fishing groups just like the one that's here today
00:43to be able to apply to receive funding for the local infrastructure that will help you to be
00:49able to fish in a more successful way in your local community. So it will be for things like
00:55the fish cleaning stations that I know are things that local fishing groups have asked us to do more
01:02of, kayak stations which is something that's a growing way for people to get out and fish,
01:09shelter, lighting, what I would describe as basic infrastructure that we can have we can support
01:15local fishing groups to put in place in areas like this one that will make recreational fishing
01:22even more fun and even more accessible and available for people to be able to do so
01:29two million dollars a year grants of up to two hundred thousand dollars for fishing groups
01:34we want to make it easier and more accessible for local groups who don't always have you know the
01:41greatest infrastructure or ability to get through the grants processes that you know government
01:47sometimes has in place and so we're going to make sure that we're making it as accessible as possible
01:52I want to get money out to grassroots recreational fishers and that's exactly what this fund is going
01:56to be about so two million dollars a year every year and grants of up to two hundred thousand
02:01dollars for local fishing local recreational fishing groups to make sure that we're getting
02:07money directly again to groups exactly like you guys who are here today so we can make this an
02:12even better pastime for people across the community so yeah I want to make fishing even
02:20more fun than it already is it's great to welcome the minister here she unfortunately can't live
02:29down here but I do but this aspect here is very much like where I live at home on the western end
02:35of churros lake almost almost identical but like it's a great initiative the grant money will go to
02:44you know minor infrastructure that's really going to support recreational fishing and
02:48we're lucky we live here we have the benefits for our physical and mental health by going fishing
02:53it's you know it's it's great to get out to get moving and it's a social interaction like as we
03:00have with the marimbula fishermen's club here so it's a great benefit for us locally and of course
03:06our tourism tourist visitors are so important to our local economy supporting local businesses as
03:13well so it's a wonderful initiative I've seen the results of things previously cleaning tables
03:21fishing platforms and fishing attraction devices etc like that it's going to make a real change to
03:28our local thing so as our local recreational fishing and as the minister said the grants
03:33are up to two hundred thousand dollars which I think you'd get a lot out of two hundred thousand
03:36dollars but the offer is there for you and I encourage you to look at what you need in the
03:42area to go ahead to see how we can improve prove it for our own fishermen and for our
03:47visitors that come to the area
