00:00Not less than 20 dogs were found dead in an island in Pagadian City.

00:06The place was attacked by abandoned stray dogs.

00:11Nico Wahe was there.

00:17The Animal Kingdom Foundation, or AKF, has just arrived in Dau Dau Island in Pagadian City.

00:25The dogs on the island are very alert.

00:31Many of them are skin and bones.

00:34It looks like they are very hungry.

00:36That's why they quickly brought food for the AKF.

00:39Heartbreaking because the dogs are so calm.

00:44And they approached our team immediately.

00:47I feel like because they are so hungry, they don't have time.

00:50Or they just don't want to be aggressive.

00:53According to the group, the dogs on the island were abandoned by former residents.

01:00The captain of the barangay who is in charge of the island admitted

01:03that the dogs were abandoned since the island was abandoned.

01:07This island, sir, has no people.

01:11Then, there are dogs here in our barangay and other barangays.

01:16Other barangays eat fish and eggs.

01:24This is where they live.

01:30But according to the local government of Pagadian,

01:32no one is reporting to their barangay.

01:35It's a report that the people of the town are going there to bathe.

01:39It's normal for us to see dogs there.

01:41We were just shocked that it was tagged as a dumping area.

01:45In total, not less than 20 dogs were injured by the Animal Kingdom Foundation

01:50and other animal welfare groups.

01:52We also had them checked up at the veterinary.

01:56Although the dogs are dehydrated and anemic,

02:02they are negative for distemper or any other serious illness.

02:06They are now being fostered by one of our partner animal welfare groups in the area.

02:14They will conduct an educational campaign in the barangays near the island,

02:18Katawangang LGU,

02:19to teach proper care to the dogs.

02:22They also posted posters prohibiting the throwing of dogs

02:26against the Animal Welfare Act and prison sentences.
