00:00Are you guys big New Kids on the Block fans?
00:02Oh my God!
00:03We just went to their concert!
00:04The whole group!
00:05So we went, what, three days ago?
00:07Yeah, we're still feeling it.
00:08And I actually met up with some of the other HGTV talent, so there was like six or seven
00:13of us in the audience, rooting on John Knight and the boys.
00:16I love it.
00:17I felt like a teenager again, it was so cool.
00:19Our voices were gone, our hair was gone, and our feet were done, but it was well worth
00:24it.
00:25It was well worth it.
00:26I was actually in the Super Bowl halftime show with the New Kids on the Block years
00:31ago.
00:32Really?
00:33My brother and I were backup dancers.
00:34Oh my God.
00:35In elementary school.
00:36Stop it.
00:37So when I reconnected with John through HGTV, I said, you know, we've shared a stage together.
00:40You don't remember me?
00:41He was like, uh.
00:42I was in second grade as one of your backup dancers, and he's like, you were in the Super
00:46Bowl halftime show?
00:47That's incredible.
00:48Isn't it so weird?
00:49My life comes full circle.
00:50Full circle.
00:51Full circle.
00:52He's the best.
00:53That's awesome.
00:54It was so much fun.
00:55You were in New Kids too, right?
00:56Yes.
00:57Yeah, Paula Abdul was there, but she did not remember him.
01:00Paula Abdul was opening act for New Kids the other night, and I was a little offended that
01:04Paula didn't remember me.
01:05No?
01:06No.
01:07It's okay.
01:08If this didn't pan out, would music be, or is still music in the back pocket?
01:12We both love music.
01:13We actually met each other in high school girls chorus class.
01:17I love that.
01:18My schedule was messed up, and Mika walked in, and I was like, oh my gosh.
01:21Oh gosh.
01:22I remember my guidance counselor said, we're going to get your schedule fixed.
01:26I said, take your time.
01:27I'll sing soprano all semester.
01:28But we both still love to sing, and I think that'll never change.
01:32Music, theater, arts, anything creative.
01:34So if we're not doing this, we're doing something when we're creating.
01:37Sure, yeah.
01:38I watched the first episode.
01:39It is so much fun.
01:40So much work.
01:41What was it about this that made you want to take on this new challenge, competing against
01:45one another?
01:46What were we thinking, right?
01:47Yes.
01:48You know what?
01:49I think that the intention was, how can we divide and conquer more, and be more impactful
01:54in the community?
01:55And the only way to do that was to basically have Brian tackle one hotel, and I tackle
02:00the other.
02:01And tackling each other too.
02:02I mean, going head to head.
02:03I mean, we're so used to winning on the same team, so going head to head was interesting
02:08to say the least.
02:09I mean, the only person more competitive than me is Mika, and it was fun.
02:15It was fun.
02:16Did you find, were you surprised at how competitive that you were against one another?
02:20I don't think that was a surprise.
02:22We had worked together even before television.
02:24We used to own businesses, so we know each other very well, strengths and weaknesses.
02:29What the cool component was for, I think, both of us was bringing in other HGTV talent
02:34that we've never worked with before.
02:36That was awesome.
02:37So we went to high school together.
02:38We used to race each other to the lunch line when the bell rang.
02:41So we've been competing for that many years.
