00:28in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli aggressions against the nation.
00:39And Russia has started the second phase of exercise of non-strategic nuclear forces.
00:53Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the Tel Aviv headquarters in
00:57Caracas, Venezuela.
00:58We'll be with the news, stay with us.
01:15United Nations organization are dividing on Thursday the elimination of unilateral extraterritorial
01:21coercive economic measures as a means of political and economic pressure.
01:26These organizations participate in the meeting as well as the non-aligned movements and nations
01:31such as Iran, Cuba, Belarus and the Russian Federation.
01:36At the session, the UN addressed how Western injuries affect the economic life and social
01:41development of the peoples of the world.
01:43Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil spoke at the gathering on behalf of the group of
01:48friends in defense of the Trump order of the UN.
01:57This policy of the imposition of unilateral coercive measures has failed.
02:01It is one of the most striking examples of this is that of Cuba, which for over 60 years
02:07now has been suffering under these measures.
02:10We renew our unwavering solidarity here with the people and government of Cuba.
02:17I urge the United States government to immediately and unconditionally put an end to this blockade
02:30imposed by the arbitrary and unilateral sponsors of terrorism.
02:36Mr. President, the promulgation and application of unilateral coercive measures has no basis
02:41under international law.
02:43These measures are unjustified and illegal.
02:45It is important to be clear in this regard.
02:50And in this sense, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Iván Gil, in his speech at the UN General
02:55Assembly, denounced the coercive unilateral measures as a crime against human rights.
03:00In this context, it should also be noted that different to what some countries pretend to
03:06portray, financial transactions or the provision of goods and services necessary for human
03:14assistance and basic human needs are in fact affected by the very existence of unilateral
03:20coercive measures, including as a result of the fear of so-called secondary sanctions.
03:36It is an illusion to believe that these measures do not have an impact.
03:41In practice, they have been proven to be ineffective or rather non-existent.
03:52Unilateral coercive measures are very clearly a crime against humanity.
03:55They constitute a massive violation of human rights.
03:59They deprive entire populations of their very means of subsistence.
04:06In this meeting, the Alternate Permanent Representative of Mexico to the United Nations,
04:11Alicia Buenrostro, spoke about the discussions and efforts needed to stop these unilateral
04:17sanctions.
04:18Finally, and in this regard, Mexico believes it is fundamental to streamline discussions
04:25on this topic and focus our efforts on substantive efforts that are developed within existing
04:32spaces in this organization without duplicating efforts.
04:36Thank you.
04:39During his speech, the Permanent Representative of Bolivia to the UN, Diego PadrĂłn RodrĂguez,
04:43emphasized that unilateral measures have devastating consequences on the economy and stability
04:48of the population of the affected countries.
04:52Unilateral coercive measures, as the name quite well tells you, are arbitrary, capricious
05:00measures imposed by one state on another with the aim of generating economic, trade
05:08and financial effects that are adverse to the country for political reasons that have
05:15devastating consequences on the economies and the stability of the populations of the
05:20countries that are affected.
05:22These unilateral measures not only affect governments, but they directly affect peoples.
05:32They affect their well-being, their development, and stop them building their life's projects.
05:40Diego PadrĂłn RodrĂguez also indicated that unilateral coercive measures constitute a
05:45violation of human rights and that all countries, especially in developing countries, should
05:51unite and work together to put an end to this evil that affects so much the current society.
05:59Unilateral coercive measures not only affect the development of countries and worsen the
06:06conditions of poverty and inequality, but also they constitute serious violations of
06:14human rights because they aim to make people suffer and take away from them the most basic
06:22things for their personal, family and community development.
06:27Our commitment to the United Nations Charter and the basic principles of international
06:34law should unite all countries together, in particular developing countries, so that we
06:42eliminate and pull up by the roots once and for all these unilateral coercive measures
06:47and that they do not continue to pose an impediment to trade and investment between independent
06:58and sovereign nations.
07:02In the meantime, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus, Valentin Rybakov, denounced that
07:06the policy of sanctions against countries in the Global South limits the access to food
07:11and medicines.
07:12We are talking about people's lives and their health, particularly that of women and children.
07:19When the authors and supporters of unilateral measures and the pseudo-politicians that finance
07:25them applaud the latest raft of sanctions, please remember that they are the ones that
07:35are depriving a child with a rare disease of the chance to lead a normal life and depriving
07:40a seriously ill pensioner of the chance to see their great-grandchildren or their grandchildren.
07:46They are the ones that are dooming millions of people in the countries of the Global South
07:51to starving to death, and that is no exaggeration.
07:55The statements of the USA and the European Union to the effect that their unilateral
07:59sanctions do not extend to potash fertilizer are also a lie.
08:07A direct consequence of the sanctions against Belarus' potassium fertilizer, which constitutes
08:13almost a third of global exports, was a significant drop in harvest yields in Africa.
08:20The Permanent Representative of Argelia to the United Nations, Amada Benjamin, also stressed
08:26the impact of the unilateral coercive economic measures on the developing countries.
08:30Unilateral coercive economic measures, such as economic sanctions and trade embargoes
08:42imposed on several developing countries, undermine the principles of sovereign equality of state
08:53and the non-intervention principle enshrined in the UN Charter.
09:04These measures restrict not only the free flow of trade and negatively impact the populations
09:16by depriving them of access to food, medicine and other essential goods and services.
09:46Welcome back from the South.
09:53The World Trade Organization announced on Wednesday that Venezuela has formally entered
09:59the organization's International Trade Facilitation Agreement.
10:03World Trade Organization also highlighted the progress that the agreement will entail
10:09for Venezuela, impacting the promotion of imports, the diversification of exports and
10:16reduction of costs at the commercial level.
10:19During the National Council of Productive Economy held in the state of Apuré, Vice
10:24President Delcy RodrĂguez highlighted the importance of the inclusion despite positions
10:30from the U.S. and its allies.
10:38Right now, the World Trade Organization announced that Venezuela is joining the International
10:42Trade Facilitation Agreement, despite the resistance of the delegations of the United
10:47States and some satellite countries, President.
10:50That means a reduction of 14% of our costs in foreign trade in that vicious formula you've
10:57designed.
10:58In addition, our industry is more competitive, so your diplomatic efforts as a former foreign
11:03minister and now as head of state, President, led to this result for Venezuela.
11:09So congratulations on this announcement.
11:15On Thursday, Venezuela hosted the first international conference in the Americas to address the
11:20ongoing Palestinian holocaust.
11:22The two-day event is being attended by the intellectuals from around the world who are
11:27meeting at the Romulo Gallego Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at CELARC in
11:32Caracas on their Diaz-Logan and new holocausts in the 21st century and its threatens the
11:39world.
11:45In Colombia, the labor reform moves forward as another 42 articles were approved on Wednesday
11:51by the 7th Commission of the Chamber of Representatives.
11:54The reform is one of four initiatives proposed as a social project by the government of President
11:59Gustavo Petro.
12:00Regarding the Congress' approval, the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, said that
12:05the articles related to labor stability, family work, businesses, protection and care work
12:11in the rural sector were passed on the second day of debate.
12:20We have some good news, and that is that the Conference of the International Labor Organization
12:24has recognized that our government have made significant progress in the development of
12:28the 159th Convention, and this encourages us to continue working on public policies
12:33for the population in a situation of disability.
12:42Moving on, the United Nations organizations denounced the forced paralysis of the education
13:00system in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli aggressions against the region.
13:04The United Nations Public Work and Relief Agency for Palestinians Refugees said that
13:10Israel violated the right to education of at least 625,000 students, among them more
13:15than 300,000 children.
13:18On the other hand, the Palestinian Ministry of Education informed that at least 4,851
13:24students were killed during the Israel attacks.
13:27The Palestinian entity also assured that despite the Israeli side, the teachers of the Gaza
13:32Strip will launch a project to reactivate the education system.
13:42Israel's unilateral side persists in the Gaza Strip, despite the Council's demands for a
13:48ceasefire.
13:49The Gaza Department of Health Ministry has reported that the Palestinian death toll from
13:53the Tel Aviv aggression exceeds 37,232 deaths, in the count of more than 85,037.
14:03The civilians have died since the escalation of attacks on October 7, including 30 Gazans
14:09killed during the attack of the last 24 hours.
14:13Many of the victims remain under the rubble as Israeli sides prevent rescue workers from
14:18carrying out their work.
14:26United Nations warned of environmental and health risks from accumulation of garbage
14:32in the Gaza Strip.
14:34The Public Work and Relief Agency for Palestinian Refugees indicated that as of June 9, more
14:40than 330,000 tons of what we said has accumulated in the populated areas throughout the Gaza
14:47Strip.
14:48Because of the Israeli side, land and two asymmetric crisis due to the environmental
14:53impact.
14:54The destruction of more than 700 kilometers of water net worth nine of the ten main storage
15:00tanks.
15:09On Thursday, dozens of Palestinians hostages released by Israel denounced Syria's torturous
15:14days were immediately hospitalized due to their physical deterioration and injuries.
15:20The prison liberal police demanded the freeing of all those still in Israeli hands, alerting
15:26that prisoners die every day in captivity.
15:29In this regard, local authorities have also denounced the deaths of Palestinians due to
15:34torture, starvation, irritation and lack of food, and the conditions under which they
15:40are being imprisoned, some remaining handcuffed and blindfolded for hours in a minimal cage.
15:52And in Tel Aviv, the Israeli government repressed ultra-Orthodox shelters who were demonstrating
15:58against the impositions of mandatory military service.
16:01Promoted by the administration of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the face of a shortage
16:06of soldiers in the coalition government, strict measures have been implemented to
16:13pressure the Israeli population into mandatory military service.
16:16The consequences for not answering the army call include detention and imprisonment.

16:57Welcome back.
16:58Russia has started the second phase of the exercise of non-strategic nuclear forces.
17:04The Russian defense ministry has reported that the Leningrad military district forces,
17:09specifically its missile personnel, are carrying out a combat-threatening task that includes
17:15covert movements to a designated position.
17:17The preparation that also entails seaman-averse and electric missiles launches against conditional
17:24enemy targets happens in the tensions provoked by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
17:30and some European governments.
17:37In Russia, the Moscow Stock Exchange held the trading in dollars and euros in response
17:42to illegal U.S. sanctions.
17:44In this context, exchange managers assured that measures will affect both the foreign
17:50exchange and previous metal markets and the over-the-counter market.
17:54As a result of operations that will be conducted as usual, the measure is aimed at ensuring
18:00the functioning of the infrastructure and the financial market.
18:12In China, on Thursday, as the European Union imposes a new tariff of imports of Chinese
18:17electric vehicles, the Commerce Administrative Spokesperson, He Jiandong, stated that the
18:22country reserves the right to present the case of the World Trade Organization.
18:31The actions by the European side are suspected of violating WTO rules and unnaked protectionist
18:37behavior.
18:38China reserves the right to file a suit to the WTO and take all necessary measures to
18:42resolutely defend the rights and interests of Chinese companies.
18:49The determinations disclosed in the EU's ruling lack a factual and legal basis.
18:53This action not only harms the legal rights and interests of the Chinese electric vehicle
18:57industry and undermines mutually beneficial China-EU cooperation on new energy vehicles,
19:03but will also distort auto production and supply chains around the world, including
19:07in the European Union.
19:11South Africa's opposition in Qatar Freedom Party announced on Wednesday that it will
19:16ally with the ruling African National Congress party in its bid to form a coalition government.
19:22In the meantime, the new parliament in Cape Town is to convene for the first time on Friday
19:28after the vote of producer Onoud Oudraad Wienerd.
19:33Precisely, the in-Qatar Freedom Party won 17 seats in the 400-member National Assembly,
19:40and four lawmakers will be called to appoint a Speaker that unelects the country's president.
19:50The IFP will join a government of national unity that includes the ANC and the Democratic
19:58Alliance.
20:01In reality, the only options are to become part of the government or part of the opposition.
20:11The mandate we received from the electorate is for the IFP to contribute to the effective
20:18governance of South Africa.
