00:00The threat of war with Israel looms over Lebanon and has become a very real possibility.
00:08Since last week, the Middle East has become even more of a powder keg following the missile
00:12strike on the occupied Golan Heights, as well as the assassinations of Hezbollah's military
00:18leader Fuad Shukr and Hamas official Ismail Haniyeh within hours of each other.
00:24Many fear Lebanon will be dragged into a regional war that it cannot afford.
00:29In the event of a war, we will be unable to do anything, but we hope that it won't happen
00:35because this time it would be a catastrophe.
00:38The country is bankrupt, it's struggling to stay afloat.
00:42It's asking the West for aid and donations, and even with that, it's barely able to survive.
00:51Of course people are scared.
00:53A lot of people are afraid there will be food, electricity and water shortages.
00:58While some are already looking to leave.
01:02I've already thought about emigrating and if there is war, I don't think I can handle
01:05staying here.
01:07I'm just waiting to finish university and then I'm leaving Lebanon.
01:11The threat of military escalation comes as Iran called on Hezbollah to strike deeper
01:16into Israel and no longer only focus on military targets.
01:20A threat which has prompted the US to bolster its military presence in the region by redeploying
01:26additional warships and fighter jets to protect its ally and US personnel.
01:31Meanwhile, both the US and the UK governments have called on all their citizens living in
01:36Lebanon to leave immediately.
