00:00Alright, hi people, it's Chase here and I'm here to do a second unboxing of all of the
00:11Sailor Moon re-release Blu-rays that have come out from Viz Media between 2022 and now
00:20in 2024, so yeah.
00:23These re-release Blu-rays are just Blu-ray only, I'm pretty sure, I don't believe Viz
00:29Media put out DVD versions, so whatever.
00:33These are the Japanese remasters by Toei themselves, basically if you don't know, when Viz licensed
00:44Sailor Moon in like 2013-2014 and started dubbing it and then started remastering the
00:51series for their own Blu-rays, which I previously did a video doing all of these again, and
00:59then just have these here to the side, basically when they did that, the people that they got
01:08doing the remaster did a really bad job, basically, and people have excused it because Viz did
01:21put out a statement that the masters that they got from Toei were not in the best shape.
01:28That does not excuse the bad color correction and the bad like, DVNR work, the oversaturation
01:35of colors and just a lot of different shit that makes the series look really bad.
01:43So yeah, it doesn't excuse at all either the fact that this first season of Sailor Moon
01:49has ghosting issues, yep, and yeah, basically it was a lot like how Dragon Ball Z has been
01:58repeatedly remastered and treated by Funimation ever since 2007 when they started doing the
02:05orange brick sets, so yeah.
02:09Then the 2013-2014 Blu-rays, then the fuckin' 30th anniversary Blu-rays, and having really
02:18bad remasters and everything, and yeah.
02:23Basically the only really good way to watch OG Dragon Ball Z is either Kai, which cuts
02:31out a ton of the footage, but it has a good remaster for the most part, the final chapter
02:39is just hit or miss, but then also fan projects that remaster and color correct the footage
02:47and everything and make it look pristine and good, that color correct the Dragon Box footage,
02:53or if you want an official release, the Dragon Boxes, but yeah.
02:59So yeah, but they since have licensed the Japanese masters that Toei put out in Japan
03:13and these now exist.
03:16From the screenshots I have seen, and I think even clips, these are a better job, so yeah.
03:28They basically just synced the original Blu-rays to the footage here and they ported all the
03:35special features from the original discs to these, so if you get these rather than the
03:40originals, you're not losing out on any content.
03:44The only difference is these don't come in limited edition sets, these are just in these
03:48standard releases and that's kind of fine.
03:51They also cost less money because they don't have 6 discs per, or 12 discs per set or per
03:59season because they're just Blu-rays, so it's only 6 discs, and yeah.
04:05So you should be able to find these for a good price, do recommend them over the originals.
04:09But yeah, and I do have the limited edition sets for the originals, because why not?
04:15But yeah.
04:17So we have Sailor Moon, the 21st season right here, and the slipcover is very interesting,
04:25it's not like the Naruto Blu-rays, where they're all very glossy and slick and everything.
04:34These are instead, like, these feel like very matte right here.
04:39The only things that are glossy are Sailor Moon right here, you can feel it, and then
04:43you can also see it because of the light shining on her.
04:46And then the Sailor Moon logo as well, and yeah.
04:51We got the spine right there, and the other side, and then the back.
04:59So yeah.
05:00And you can already see right here, I'll do a comparison video, these screenshots are
05:05better in terms of color and accuracy.
05:08So yeah.
05:09So that's the description of the first season, 6 discs set, 46 episodes, 1080p HD, 4 by 3
05:16aspect ratio, English subtitles, English and Japanese stereo audio, dub recording with
05:20the English cast, Anime Expo, Sailor Moon panel, clean opening and endings, art gallery,
05:26and more.
05:27Viz, Warner Bros., Tellway, Blu-ray, Region A, TVPG, approximately 1060 minutes.
05:34So you know, no, the Deke dub is not on these, so I don't know why you'd expect that at this
05:38point.
05:39So yeah.
05:40So here we go, with the Blu-ray case, so yeah.
05:47The inside artwork is just their transformation trinkets, so yeah.
05:53So we have disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.
06:04The original releases I think did better on the inside artwork, because they had stock
06:10art but still character artwork of the bad guys and the good guys.
06:16So yeah.
06:17So here we go with Sailor Moon R, the complete second season.
06:23Sailor Moon again right there, the spine, the other side, and the back, pretty much
06:32the same setup, so 1010 minutes because it's only 43 episodes, everything is basically
06:38the same.
06:39This also comes with Welcome Chibi Usa, Sailor Moon Anniversary AX cast interview, Sailor
06:46Moon at Otakon, and all that.
06:51So yeah.
06:53So just the Blu-ray case, and the other discs, again transformation trinkets that are new
07:01to this season I believe.
07:03So disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and again you get that.
07:20So we get Sailor Moon S, third season, Sailor Moon again right there, the spine, and the
07:34back, 38 episodes, this is 917 minutes, cast commentary and more.
07:47So yeah.
07:48So here we go with the disc case, again transformation trinkets that are new to this season.
08:01So disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, there you go.
08:18Then we have the complete fourth season, Sailor Moon Super S, so yeah, spine, and then the
08:30other side, and then the back, so yeah, this is 39 episodes, so it's 979 minutes, has cast
08:40interviews, TV special, and all that, so yeah, in regards to what's different between this
08:46and the other sets.
08:48So then the Blu-ray case, insert artwork, yeah disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and here we
09:04go.
09:14So we have Sailor Moon, Sailor Stars, the complete fifth season, we have all that, spine,
09:22other side, and the back, so yeah, 812 minutes because it's 34 episodes, has cast interviews,
09:33and all that, so yeah.
09:37So we have all that for the Blu-ray case, and then the inside, so disc 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
09:49and 6, so yeah.
09:56So basically I'm just going to be watching at least an episode, maybe the first episode
10:02of season 1 to give you guys, or to do a video where I compare the original release
10:07to this, so yeah, kind of like what I did with the Dragon Ball Z releases, but yeah.
10:18So really not much else to say, so like, subscribe, and I'll see you guys in the next one.
