00:00Carlos Yulo, an Olympic gold medalist at a young age,
00:05already saw the potential in gymnastics.
00:07That's why his father, who was one of the first to see his determination,
00:11has a message for the success of his son.
00:14Hati at Divon Aquino reports.
00:18In a simple tumbling in a playground in Manila,
00:22Carlos Yulo's long but successful gymnastics journey began.
00:28Then one day, a gymnast approached us.
00:36She told us, why didn't you join the gymnastics?
00:40After going to tryouts, he started training at the age of 7.
00:45Until he joined and won in various local gymnastics competitions,
00:50especially national games.
00:52At the age of 13, his mother was a Japanese coach,
00:56Monehiro Kugimiya.
00:58And she flew to Japan to tryout.
01:01In 2019, he became the first Filipino gymnast to win
01:06the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Germany.
01:11And he won two gold medals in the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
01:15That's just a few of the medals Carlos won
01:19from various international gymnastics competitions.
01:22Yulo said,
01:24I don't aim for medals in all competitions.
01:28What I aim for is to give my best performance.
01:32At the Tokyo Olympics, Yulo didn't aim for a podium finish.
01:36But he was destined for victory at the Paris Olympics.
01:41Carlos' father, mixed anxiety and joy
01:44when his son joined the men's floor exercise.
01:48I'm happy and nervous.
01:51It's nerve-wracking to watch.
01:54Sometimes, when the ball hits the ground,
02:00you have to pray for a stick landing.
02:03That's the real battle.
02:05Mark Andrew saw his son's determination in gymnastics.
02:10He is also thankful to Yulo's Japanese coach, Kugimiya,
02:14who helped him train in Japan.
02:17I owe a lot to my coach.
02:23Thank you for letting me meet him.
02:26If it wasn't for him,
02:28I wouldn't be as good as him.
02:34Thank you, coach.
02:40Carlos' two brothers are also proud
02:42to follow in their brother's footsteps as gymnasts.
02:46You're amazing, brother.
02:48I'm so proud of you.
02:50I know you can do it.
02:52That's all.
02:53I'm so proud of you.
02:55Congrats, brother.
02:56We're so proud of you.
02:58Congrats.
02:59This is amazing.
03:00I hope we can talk as a family.
03:04Let's end this.
03:07It's not a big problem.
03:10It's not true.
03:12I hope we can talk and form a bond.
03:15Let's get back together.
03:19God bless you.
03:20And congrats, brother.
03:22Long live the Philippines.
03:24Von Aquino reporting for GMA Integrated News.
03:32From cinema viewers to online netizens,
03:36the movie that is receiving a lot of praise
03:38is Capuso's primetime queen,
03:40Marian Rivera's Balota.
03:42Here's the latest, Mari and pare.
03:49Moviegoers gave a round of applause
03:51to the 2024 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival movie,
03:55Balota, in their Gaylan Night.
03:59It brought joy to the movie's star,
04:01Capuso's primetime queen, Marian Rivera,
04:04along with the entire cast
04:06and director, Kip Uebanda.
04:09Aside from the movie's beautiful message
04:11about the importance of every vote
04:14and the choice of a leader,
04:16the brave and no-filter action of Marian
04:21as Teacher Emy in her first Cinemalaya film
04:25As I said, my experience in Balota was priceless.
04:29So I said, I'm really thankful that I got to do this.
04:33I noticed on social media that Marian's love for this role is overwhelming.
04:38We knew that when we were shooting it,
04:40she gave it her all.
04:41But to see people appreciate it is really something else.
04:44Especially in Cinemalaya,
04:45because Cinemalaya crowd is very hard to please.
04:48It's great to feel the vibe of Cinemalaya again,
04:51to see people coming back to the cinema
04:55to enjoy the movies.
04:57And of course, it's an honor
04:59to work with Director Kip
05:02and of course, the one and only, Ms. Marian Rivera.
05:05As for the viewers and full support to Jan,
05:08Mr. Kapuso Primetime King, Ding Dong Dantes.

05:13and of all the actors in the movie

05:20I'm proud of the strength of this movie.
