00:00Alright, Hi People of Shazer, I'm here to do an unboxing for you guys today of the Dexter's
00:05Laboratory Complete Series DVD set.
00:08Very very happy that a lot of older Cartoon Network shows are being put on DVD, that should
00:17already be on DVD by this point, but just have not gone released.
00:22And yeah, they did Ed, Edd, and Eddy back in 2022 I believe, and then Fosse's Home for
00:30Imaginary Friends, those were for the 30th anniversary of the network.
00:35No idea why they didn't do more that year, oh yeah, they re-released the Powerpuff Girls
00:39Complete Series DVD set this year as well, I need to get that as well.
00:45Then they did this, they re-released Adventure Time at some point in the last several years.
00:54Then I hope that more classic Cartoon Network shows get DVD releases, and even possible
01:03Blu-ray releases if they're in HD.
01:05I would love for all of Adventure Time to get a Complete Series Blu-ray set, and Regular
01:10Show.
01:11Regular Show needs to complete its releases on Blu-ray.
01:17They released the first two seasons in one pack on Blu-ray, then the third season just
01:21got a DVD set for just no reason.
01:24Then they stopped, they released the movie on DVD, not Blu-ray, and I think they released
01:30a couple volumes after that on DVD that had some stray episodes from other seasons, but
01:35yeah.
01:37So yeah, shows I would love to see get DVD releases at the very least would be like Billy
01:42and Mandy, Kids Next Door, just all those classic Cartoon Network shows from 20-30 years
01:52ago would be great to have on DVD.
01:57So yeah.
01:58But yeah, so yeah.
02:00One thing though that is weird about this release compared to Foster's Home for Imaginary
02:05Friends and Ed, Edd n Eddy, this has all the episodes and the Ego Trip movie, however,
02:14they do not have a lot of the episodes in either their original airing order or production
02:23order.
02:24The only, like, the only episodes to be in airing order at the very least are like the
02:29first quarter, I think, of, or roughly a quarter, of season two.
02:35But it's really weird with this, and I'll point out, or I guess we'll talk about it
02:40right now.
02:41So for this set, they have all the episodes from the original run and Ego Trip, like I
02:45said, none of them, or it's not consistently in airing or production order.
02:50You would think airing order would be the default, I would take production order if
02:54they did that, but they didn't.
02:58They just seemed to throw a lot of the episodes in randomly.
03:02I don't understand why, compared to, and I'm assuming that Powerpuff Girls is in broadcast
03:10order because it's just a re-release of an earlier DVD set from like a decade ago.
03:17But then, yeah, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Ed, Edd n Eddy, even though Ed,
03:20Edd n Eddy was missing three of the specials and the movie, they were still in broadcast
03:25order.
03:26So I don't understand at all what the thought process was with this, and I'll show you guys
03:34in a second what I mean.
03:36So yeah, so here we go, with Dexter's Laboratory, The Complete Series, you have Dexter right
03:41here, behind him is like the laboratory tech, Cartoon Network, side, is this fine here?
03:47Oh yeah, Curse of Cowardly Dog also got a DVD release and I did that a while ago.
03:51Cartoon Network, Dexter's Laboratory, The Complete Series, and on the back, which, yeah,
04:00you can see for the episodes, there'll be digital, English, stereo, and Spanish.
04:03I have no idea why they included the Spanish dub on this, considering Foster's and Ed,
04:09Edd n Eddy only got their first, I think, two seasons released originally, like, almost
04:14twenty years ago when they got their original DVD releases, then they just stopped releasing
04:19them on DVD for no reason, then when they re-released those, the episodes, they re-used
04:25the programming data for the first two seasons' DVDs, but from when they originally released
04:32them, the rest of the episodes only had, which had the, like, English and Spanish and French
04:37dubs, but then the rest of the episodes did not feature any alternate language options
04:43besides English, and I don't know why that is.
04:47So here, you have every episode in Spanish, with the audio.
04:51I don't know why.
04:53That confuses me, in, just, a lot.
04:56I don't understand why.
04:58But yeah, um, but in case you do speak Spanish, there you go, and you're more, and you're
05:04more familiar with that dub, there you go, DVDs Region 1, English RCH, Delete Audio,
05:11and all that.
05:12Um, don't get me wrong, I'm, I'm fine with the audio...
05:16With the Spanish audio being on the discs, it's just really inconsistent with how they're
05:19doing these releases, granted.
05:22This entire set is very inconsistent.
05:25So on the front here, we've got the Dexter's Laboratory and the Police Series logo, Dexter
05:29and DeeDee right there.
05:30I don't know if this is art from the original, uh, creator of the show or not?
05:37They look a little off-model, so probably not.
05:40It's probably one of the artists at Cartoon Network or Warner Bros., um, that looked at
05:46their reference sheets for the character models and just did this really quickly.
05:51Cartoon Network... and then, Spine, and then the back.
05:58So yeah, um, pretty much everything is consistent in regards to what's actually typed there
06:05for the description of the series.
06:08Yeah, the one constant in Dexter's Experiment is friction, and some screenshots from episodes.
06:15That might be promo art.
06:16That doesn't look like anything that's from an actual episode, but I could be wrong.
06:20Um, yeah, uh, so we have all that.
06:26So yeah.
06:28And the thing about this is, this is just like Fosters and I think Ed and Eddie, where
06:32the disc holder is for some reason not connected to the spine?
06:37I don't understand that at all.
06:39Okay, so this is the episode guide.
06:42So if you're familiar with the episode order, at least in broadcast order, you know something's
06:48up with Season 1.
06:50Um, but yeah.
06:53One thing that I don't like as well, uh, what was it, I think it's Dexter's Rival.
06:59Yeah, that's one thing I don't understand.
07:00They have Dexter's Rival on here twice, because they have it with the other two episodes that
07:06have Mandark in them, and I don't know why?
07:10Like, for the broadcast, okay.
07:12For the DVDs, I don't understand.
07:14But whatever.
07:15It's not like it really is that much of a blight on humanity, but yeah.
07:21Season 2, if you're familiar with the broadcast order, I believe for the first two discs,
07:25it's fine.
07:26But then, okay, so this is also a thing.
07:30Season 2 was 39 episodes and a movie.
07:33Which was a double-length episode, basically, it was basically just a TV special, but they
07:36call it a movie.
07:38Okay.
07:40But they split it into three different seasons.
07:43Um, so, Dexter's Lab only has four production seasons.
07:50However, it seems they went the route of Futurama and split Season 2 into three different seasons
07:58so that there's two more than there actually was in the production.
08:04But then, you get to the last two seasons, and Ego Trip is presented last.
08:12Ego Trip comes at the end of Season 2.
08:16It's fine that it's, I'm glad that it's on the set, but why is it out of, like wildly
08:22out of order?
08:23The thing about the last two seasons as well, if you remember anything from the production
08:27of the show, if you saw it years ago, or even if you get this set to watch it for the first
08:32time, the last two seasons were animated digitally.
08:38So the first two seasons were animated by hand on cells and shit, which, there's also
08:46a weird thing with the masters for the episodes from the first two seasons, or at least a
08:50handful of them, which is that at least for some of them, there's like fraying on the
08:57bottom of the frames.
08:59For just no reason, like there's a little bit of fraying.
09:01I don't know why, I think that's because they forgot to crop it out when they were
09:06scanning the film reels into their computers to use for these.
09:11But eh, whatever, you know?
09:16But the first two seasons were animated by hand on ink and cells.
09:20That includes Ego Trip.
09:22The last two seasons were animated digitally on, like, computers.
09:28So they look, like, more crisp and more vibrant in regards to colors, but they're inconsistent
09:35with the first two seasons.
09:37So if you're watching through these DVD sets, or through these DVDs, not only are most of
09:44the episodes out of order, but Ego Trip also comes last, even though it's after season
09:50two.
09:51I don't understand what, the thought process with this at all.
09:57But yeah.
09:59So in regards to the discs, disc one and two of season one, one and two of season two,
10:07and then three and four of season two, and six of season two.
10:14This is technically discs one and two of season three, and then discs one and two of season
10:18four.
10:19Yay, Cartoon Network, you're really showing that you, or Warner Bros even, you're really
10:26showing that you respect your her- or, not heritage, but, like, your past.
10:31But yeah, you let, you let Cartoon Network go to shit with Teen Titans Go, I'm constantly
10:37getting reruns, more than it really should, even if people do like the show.
10:43I think even the people who like the show have to admit that them constantly repeating
10:48the show on loop for all, almost all day, every fucking day, for the last ten years,
10:57eleven years actually at this point, has rotted the channel to the ground, and not left much
11:05room for also good, but also better shows to have the limelight on the channel.
11:16The only other shows that were airing at the same time as Teen Titans Go were Steven
11:21Universe and Amazing World of Gumball.
11:22I love Amazing World of Gumball, I also hope that gets a DVD or Blu-ray release.
11:28Steven Universe, no opinions on, because I haven't really watched it, but I hear it's
11:32good.
11:33Uh, Teen Titans Go is not a good enough show to be doing that with, I'm sorry.
11:38It wasn't from the get-go, it didn't really get any better from what I understand, and
11:43it just turned a lot of people away from the network outside of kids.
11:45On top of that, like, the ratings have declined in the last several years, that's actually
11:49a fact, I looked on the Wikipedia page, which has the ratings for each episode, the ratings
11:54have been steadily going down the last, like, what, three or four seasons or so?
11:57And then, like, I don't even think anyone really gives a shit about the show anymore,
12:02so why do you keep it airing?
12:03I don't, I don't know.
12:05Anyways, so, yeah, it's just, sorry, that's just a rant that's for another time.
12:11But yeah, so, yeah, but uh, I do ultimately recommend the set, even though I do have my
12:18problems with it, and there are legitimate problems with the set.
12:22It has all the episodes, regardless if they're in the actual airing order, or even production
12:27order, and, um, they're in good quality, they're there, so yeah, if you guys want them, here
12:36they are.
12:37So yeah.
12:39So really, not much else to say, so links in the description, always share, subscribe
12:42if you want, and I'll see you guys in the next one.
