At a Senate Republican press briefing on Tuesday, Sen. John Thune (R-SD) spoke about Vice President Kamala Harris and the southern border.

00:00Well, it's been interesting watching the White House going through the verbal gymnastics
00:08of trying to distance Vice President Harris from her role as the Board of Representatives.
00:15What the White House is now saying is that her responsibility was dealing with the root
00:20causes of the border.
00:23And obviously, three years later, you're going to ask the question, how is that going to
00:27happen?
00:28This is the worst disaster.
00:29Ten million illegals have come into this country since the Biden-Harris presidency, since they
00:34took office.
00:35And if you look at just the number of people who are coming into the country on the terrorist
00:41watchlist that's now approaching 400 people, this is a national security threat, a national
00:47security crisis.
00:49And it has been an absolute, utter, and abysmal failure on behalf of the Biden-Harris administration.
00:58The real important part of leadership is taking responsibility and finding solutions, neither
01:07of which they're willing to do on this issue.
01:10The Vice President is scheduled to go to Texas tomorrow, but I don't have any expectation
01:14that she's going to go down to the southern border and look at the problems that have
01:19been created by their policies.
01:21But the fact of the matter is, this administration and their policies have led us to where we
01:26have a disaster that is unprecedented in American history, made simply by their own
01:32policies.
01:33So I would hope that as she takes on this campaign, that they will own up to the responsibility
01:41that they have for what's happening in our southern border.
01:44And honestly, I have to say, I think that Vice President Harris, when it comes to matters
01:49of national security, and specifically the border, is more dangerous and worse than President
01:55Biden.
01:56And you could see that on display last week in the awkward way that she dealt with President
02:01Prime Minister Netanyahu when he was here.
02:05This is a team and a Vice President who has projected weakness on the global stage, and
02:13we are seeing the results and effects of that all around the world today.
