00:00Thousands of people poured into the streets of Dhaka on Monday after Bangladesh Prime
00:07Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned, the culmination of more than a month of deadly anti-government

00:19Army Chief General Walker Uss Zaman said in a televised address that Hasina had left the
00:24country and that an interim government would be formed.
00:27CNN News 18 reported that 76-year-old Hasina landed in India's northeastern city of Agartala
00:34after fleeing Dhaka, and that India is set to offer a safe passage to her.
00:39Thousands of people also stormed Hasina's official residence.
00:43Crowds were seen in the drawing rooms of the residence, and some could be seen carrying
00:47away televisions, chairs and tables from what was one of the most protected buildings in
00:53the country.
00:55Protesters in Dhaka also climbed atop a large statue of independence leader Sheikh Mujibur
01:01Rahman, Hasina's father, and began chiseling away at the head with an axe.
01:07Bangladesh has been engulfed by protests and violence that began last month after student
01:11groups demanded scrapping of a controversial quota system in government jobs.
01:16That escalated into a campaign to seek the ouster of Hasina, who won a fourth straight
01:21term in January in an election boycotted by the opposition.
